Part 4
“Why did Berlin put the sunglasses on Hua Yan? It’s not that sunny.”
“Oh, I actually know this. I’ve seen it on a gossip account before. Hua Yan seems to be naturally allergic to sunlight or has light sensitivity; I don’t quite remember the specifics, but he has something similar, so he often wears sunglasses outdoors and likes to wear long sleeves and long pants. Today it’s not sunny, but it’s daytime, so ultraviolet light is quite uncomfortable for people like him, right?”
“In that case…that’s quite unlucky, the handsome guy is a bit pitiful. But this explanation makes it even sweeter. He remembers that it’s sunny, so he helps by putting the sunglasses on his teammate. I can’t help it, this is kind of cute.”
Initially, they were just using the phone camera to zoom in and watch, but as they chatted together, they couldn’t stop giggling; they finally remembered to press the record button.
Filming hadn’t started yet, and the video was so blurry, so it should be okay to keep it to themselves as a souvenir of this rare moment.
Sadly, they’d just pressed the record button when another member walked over, and when Hua Yan raised his hand as if to touch Berlin’s neck, he grabbed Hua Yan’s arm and pulled him away.
Soon, the three of them went into a tent used for changing clothes, and they were no longer visible.
The most crucial interaction wasn’t recorded, only some insignificant details.
“Oh…who was the member who grabbed Hua Yan?”
“The blond one…let me think…Wu Hengyao? This group’s ships can be freely paired; the same video can have over a hundred and eight interpretations; every couple can be shipped at the same time, haha, envisioning a large-scale chaotic battlefield.”
“Why did he pull him away? I haven’t seen enough.”
“Seriously? You’ve only watched for a little while and you’re already emotionally invested?”
“Don’t say that, I’m kind of hooked; I’m going to check for any shipping threads…”
The reality was vastly different from the passerby’s imagination.
What the video captured was also completely different from what actually happened.
The reason Berlin took the tissues first was that if the staff member took another step forward, they would see Hua Yan’s uncontrolled transformation.
His eyes became more slender, his already high nose bridge became even higher, his sculptural features became increasingly refined, almost unreal, his pale skin hard as rock, and from under his eyes to his temples, cracks like thorns appeared in the sunlight.
His dark, opaque pupils turned a deep, rich burgundy, while his lips were as pale as a midnight ghost.
Hua Yan was trying with all his might to control himself from harming Berlin.
He was suppressing his instinctive bloodlust, so he had sensed the staff member approaching but couldn’t spare the attention to deal with it.
Berlin reacted quickly. After taking the tissues, he thanked the staff member with a smile, and without thinking, pulled Hua Yan’s sunglasses down to cover his eyes, where the changes were most noticeable.
Fortunately, the staff member didn’t come closer, turning to leave.
Hua Yan lowered his eyes, his gaze falling on Berlin’s fair neck.
Long, delicate, with a thin layer of skin, the beating of his blood vessels was clearly visible, almost vibrating in his mind, even accelerating.
The location of the carotid artery.
Human resistance was minimal; their fragile skin only needed a light scratch to cause warm, hot blood to gush out continuously.
Hua Yan gazed intently, and gradually, only the sound of a rapidly beating heart was heard in his mind.
A faint, clear scent of blood lingered in the air, clinging to Berlin more and more intensely as he got closer.
He was fascinated, unable to control himself, extending his hand to feel more clearly.
Vampires were immortal beings who defied decay. They had no heartbeat, no breath, no body temperature.
Hua Yan could feel Berlin’s accelerated breathing from nervousness. His consciousness told him that he was overstepping; he couldn’t do this; Berlin might be afraid of him, and that wasn’t what he wanted.
But he had endured for too long.
Finally, his cool fingertips touched Berlin’s neck, experiencing unprecedented warmth.
He finally felt the rapid heartbeat as blood flowed between his fingers.
But before he could do anything, Wu Hengyao firmly grabbed his arm, silently warning him with his eyes.
Werewolves and vampires were natural enemies; even though they had barely coexisted peacefully for two years, Hua Yan and Wu Hengyao still disliked each other in private.
Hua Yan frowned; Wu Hengyao’s claws broke through his hard skin, sinking into his body.
Normally, Hua Yan would have fought Wu Hengyao without hesitation.
But now, Hua Yan closed his eyes, his voice hoarse and low, barely audible: “…You can let go.”
Wu Hengyao looked at him skeptically, releasing him before Hua Yan’s aura became too violent.
Fearing that the staff would see Hua Yan’s anomaly, Berlin quickly pulled him into the tent.
The three figures disappeared into the tent.
Hua Yan frowned and closed his eyes; a familiar cup suddenly appeared in his hand.
He took several gulps with a speed that Berlin couldn’t see clearly before slowly relaxing his tightly furrowed brows.
The faintly visible fangs quickly receded, the lines at the corners of his eyes faded quickly, and the red in his pupils disappeared like a receding tide.
Wu Hengyao crossed his arms, looking at him: “No one saw, right?”
Hua Yan tried to calm his still agitated mind, turning his head away from Berlin.
He mumbled indifferently: “…Probably.”
Hoping it would help, Berlin found a bandage in his bag and quickly applied it.
But even with his quick movements, time felt excruciatingly slow for Hua Yan.
After a while, Hua Yan stood up first, turning around without a word, fleeing from the tent.
Before leaving, he said one sentence.
“…Don’t get hurt again.”
The staff completed setting up the temporary set, and filming started soon without any delays.
No one noticed a middle-aged man standing on the high steps behind the beach.
He was a paparazzi.
He had received a lucrative job today: filming a very famous top-tier boy group.
At this moment, he was looking at the photos in his camera in astonishment.
What…is this?
