Streaming Earth Cuisine In The Interstellar to Raise Star Cubs chapter 42.3

Part 3

But it was all too late.

Zong Ling stared dead at Mu Jiayi. “I will break off the engagement with you.”

He would never marry someone who killed Ning Yunyi.

After speaking, he strode out.

Mu Jiayi was furious. How dare he? “You can try. Although our Mu family is inferior to the Zong family, the Zong family relies entirely on Marshal Zong alone. Now that something has happened to Marshal Zong, do you think the Zong family can sit securely as one of the three major families without the Mu family’s support? The other two families have plenty of thoughts about swallowing the Zong family, and those below also want to… replace you.”

Zong Ling turned back abruptly. “You!”

Mu Jiayi sneered. Since they had torn off all pretenses, he might as well smash the pot. “If you break the engagement, I can tell you plainly that the Mu family will support another Zong family descendant for marriage. Do you really think you smoothly succeeded as the Zong family head because of your father? If the entire Mu family hadn’t supported you for the sake of the marriage alliance, the other branches of the Zong family wouldn’t have agreed so easily.”

Zong Ling’s face changed completely.

Mu Jiayi let out a long breath. “Think clearly. Either you break the engagement, the Mu family switches support, and continues to ally with the Zong family; or you act as your Zong family head properly, and the title of Zong family head’s spouse can only be mine. Since I can’t marry your Little Uncle, I want this title of Mrs. Zong.”

Zong Ling’s face slowly darkened. He stared dead at Mu Jiayi, as if looking at a venomous snake.

A venomous snake disguised as a simple, harmless rabbit, ready to bite you when you least expect it.

Mu Jiayi watched as Zong Ling gave him a look of utter ridicule and disgust, then turned abruptly and strode away, as if looking at him one second longer was nauseating.

Mu Jiayi waited until Zong Ling’s figure completely disappeared before collapsing to the ground in frustration, trembling with rage.

Damn it, he was already at a disadvantage agreeing to be engaged to him. Why did he have the right to disdain him?

In what way was he inferior to Ning Yunyi?

How dare he look at him with those eyes! Ning Yunyi! It’s all his fault!

If he died, he should have died cleanly. Why did he have to ruin his predestined path? Zong Ling was so happy just a moment ago about inheriting the position. They could have played the role of a loving couple.

Now it was all ruined. Even if Zong Ling truly took power, he feared he wouldn’t have a good end.

No, he had to go inform his father about this immediately. He couldn’t let Zong Ling easily escape the Mu family’s control.

On the other side, Ning Yunyi looked at Young Master Bai, who was lying flat with his belly bulging, unable to move. “Elias has already gone to the braised pork shop. You’re not going this afternoon?”

Young Master Bai grinned. “I’m the store manager, after all. I can skip it.”

Ning Yunyi saw that he probably couldn’t eat anything else, so he ignored him and went upstairs to get the newly arrived wristband for Ning’s Big Brother.

The fake identity ID hadn’t arrived yet, but a wristband had to be rebought anyway.

Just as Ning Yunyi came out with the wristband, his vision was dazzled by something stark white.

He looked down, and when he saw clearly what it was, his expression froze.

He saw a chubby, round rabbit dragging its clothes, trying hard to wriggle out. One front paw was resting on the doorframe, while the other was tugging at its collar. It looked up, baring two shiny buck teeth at Ning Yunyi in an exceptionally ingratiating manner: “Ji!” Uncle!

Then came a fierce rabbit cute-attack: “Ji ji?” Uncle, do you think I’m cute? So, Uncle, are you short of a pet rabbit?

The corner of Ning Yunyi’s mouth couldn’t help but twitch.

Seeing no reaction from his uncle, Young Master Bai rolled his black beady eyes. He switched paws, leaning against the other side of the doorframe, while the other paw pulled the clothes off his shoulder a little more: “Ji ji?” I can even perform talents! It’s a great deal!

With that, he looked ready to perform a fat rabbit tap dance.

Just as Ning Yunyi twitched his eye at the wiggle and was about to press him down, something suddenly fell to the ground with a bang.

Ning Yunyi looked up and saw Big Brother Ning standing at the top of the stairs holding Ning Xiao Miao. The thing that had fallen was the rattan ball Ning Xiao Miao had been holding.

Ning Xiao Miao’s eyes were wide and round. “Co-Cousin?”

Well, the little cub was scared into changing his tone.

Young Master Bai turned his head and saw them. With a ji, he darted into Ning Yunyi’s room, burrowed under the quilt, and covered his head: Sob, my dignity! Was it easy for me to beg for a bite to eat?

Young Master Bai left with mixed feelings of sorrow and joy.

Sorrow because he had completely lost face in front of his cousin; Joy because his uncle said he could come over to freeload lunch in the future.

Big Brother Ning went out again in the afternoon to gather information. Ning Yunyi took Ning Xiao Miao to the study to cultivate.

The Big Cat didn’t go in. It returned to its room on the first floor, curled up in its nest, thinking about what had happened not long ago.

Clearly, the Zong family thought it had met with an accident, so they planned to let Zong Ling inherit the position of family head ahead of time.

Taking advantage of the time before the news of its accident was confirmed, they wanted to use its identity as Marshal to gain more for the Zong family.

The Big Cat lowered its head, feeling for the first time that it wasn’t that important to the Zong family members.

As soon as the news of its accident came out, they didn’t even hesitate to make the best choice.

Choosing a new family head… perhaps even while it was still alive, Zong Ling had already been selected as the heir.

It had indeed heard rumors, thinking it was just talk from the outside world. Plus, Zong Ling seemed like a decent junior in its eyes, so it hadn’t refuted it.

But now, facing the fact that the Zong family had chosen the next head without notifying him, the current head…

And adding what it just heard—Ning Yunyi and Mu Jiayi were at odds, and Mu Jiayi had even tried to harm him.

If Zong Ling and Mu Jiayi really succeeded, once their power expanded, would they let Ning Yunyi go after he embarrassed them today?

So, Zong Ling could not become the Zong family head.

The Big Cat came out of the room again. It glanced at the attic study. Usually, Ning Yunyi would take the little guy to cultivate there for two hours.

Because that place was different; it was shielded from the surroundings the whole time.

Once the Big Cat made its decision, it moved extremely fast. Its wristband and everything that could prove its identity weren’t with it.

But having been a Marshal for so many years, it still had a few trustworthy confidants.

The Big Cat had been thinking about how to contact its confidants while avoiding Ning Yunyi.

Firstly, to keep its father’s final entrustment; secondly, it couldn’t imagine its identity being exposed in front of Ning Yunyi… thinking of this, its face felt hot.

The method the Big Cat thought of was the wristband Ning Yunyi gave to Ning Xiao Miao before coming to the First Star.

It contained an identity ID, but since Ning Xiao Miao didn’t use it, it was always left casually in the cub’s room.

It had seen it many times while babysitting the little guy.

The Big Cat entered Ning Xiao Miao’s room, saw the wristband lying around, hooked it with its paw, and operated the [Bai Xiao Miao] account to send a friend request.

Because it added a special ID, the other side quickly approved and sent a question mark.

[Code 151: ?]

[Bai Xiao Miao: I am Zong Hao.]

[Code 151: ??]

Soon the other side sent another sentence.

[Code 151: Little friend, stop joking. You are only six years old. Who told you this ID? Who is your parent?]

Zong Hao quickly typed a special code, a chat method known only to a few of Zong Hao’s confidants.
