Chapter 16: Teacher Liang Praised Me
Liang Yuhang lowered his eyes and applied the ointment.
His fingers had developed a layer of calluses from frequent firearms training or holding scalpels. Upon contact, it felt very rough and tingly.
Mu Feng gripped the edge of the desk with both hands. To avoid making any undignified noises, his knuckles turned white.
“Hurts?” Liang Yuhang asked.
“A little.” Mu Feng didn’t mean what he said. Actually, it was too tingling. It was clearly just a simple application of medicine, but his legs went soft, and he wanted to kneel.
“Doesn’t look serious.” Liang Yuhang was very focused, pressing around to check. No fractures.
But because a tall person’s fingers are also long, inevitably, there was a sense of measurement.
A slight span, and one palm could almost encircle the distance.
It really was thin.
Mu Feng could hardly hear what he was saying anymore. All his senses were being pulled, time turning into a torture that was both agonizing and blissful.
He murmured, “Probably… twisted it, so there’s no bruising.”
Liang Yuhang reminded him, “Remember to apply the medicine on time. Only known you for a few days, and you’ve been injured twice, Mu Feng.”
Hearing his name called, Mu Feng became very nervous. “Sorry.”
He seemed to have failed to measure the propriety properly and annoyed the other party.
“Why apologize?” Liang Yuhang asked.
“Because of the injuries, I troubled you twice.” Mu Feng’s voice was lighter.
Liang Yuhang couldn’t see his expression, but he could hear the dejection and self-blame. “Is it your fault?”
“It is my fault.” Mu Feng thought, Both times count as intentional on my part. If getting injured caused trouble for him, it is my problem.
Liang Yuhang reached out and pulled down the hem of the shirt that had been lifted, covering that scenery.
“Turn around. Look at me.”
Mu Feng obeyed the command and raised his head, fingers still gripping the edge of the desk. He couldn’t gauge what the other was thinking and lost the ease he had when trying to hook him earlier.
“What is my profession?”
“Military doctor.”
“Doctors treating illnesses—is it justified by heaven and earth?”
“Yes.”
“Then where is your fault?”
With this back-and-forth dialogue, Mu Feng was stumped, not knowing how to answer. He was just used to attributing all problems to himself, regardless of whether the consequences were active or passive.
And, he indeed harbored some selfish motives; he wasn’t honorable, nor was he decent.
Liang Yuhang looked at him and spoke slowly, “Say it again. Is it your fault that you got injured and let me treat you?”
Mu Feng moved his lips, his voice very soft. “No, Teacher Liang.”
The corner of Liang Yuhang’s lips lifted very slightly as he evaluated, “Teachable, not too stupid.”
This was simply the best evaluation Mu Feng had ever heard. He was so excited he wanted to run three laps downstairs.
This was praise, right? Heavens, he could actually hear words of praise from Liang Yuhang’s mouth one day.
Mu Feng tilted his head. “You’re praising me, right?”
Liang Yuhang gave an affirmative answer. “Yes, you didn’t hear wrong.”
Mu Feng’s beautiful eyes curved again, looking very easy to coax. He turned his head to share with 0717, “Teacher Liang praised me!”
“Heard it, heard it. I have a recording here. Want me to loop it for you?” 0717 operated simultaneously as it spoke.
The room echoed with “Teachable, not too stupid,” over and over again.
Mu Feng: “……………”
There was really no need for that. It was so awkward his toes could dig out a new base.
He reached out, grabbed his notebook, hugged it to his chest, didn’t forget to take the ointment, and left in a hurry. “Teacher Liang, see you tomorrow.”
Liang Yuhang turned his head to scold, “Why did you tease him?”
0717 looked innocent. “Didn’t he want to listen to it a few more times?”
Mu Feng returned to the dorm happily, feeling like he was floating on air. As soon as he opened the door, he was scared half to death by Jiang Yuan standing at the entrance.
“Summoning spirits? Standing here acting like the Black and White Guards?” Mu Feng frowned.
“I was waiting for you. Waited for you for a full hour. You stayed in his room for a full hour.”
Jiang Yuan narrowed his eyes, looking him up and down. “Clothes intact, mouth intact. Looks like you haven’t had time to do anything yet.”
Mu Feng felt a bit guilty. “Of course. Just had a lot of questions to do, stayed a bit longer.”
Jiang Yuan was a master of changing faces. He immediately pulled a shopping bag from behind his back. “That’s my Mu Bao. Bought you a limited edition watch to prostrate myself in apology for accidentally beating you up last night.”
“Didn’t swipe my card to buy it, right?” Mu Feng teased him.
“Of course not.” Jiang Yuan gritted his teeth. “Put it on my tab with my brother. It cost me two chances to go out and play.”
Mu Feng smiled, opened it, and put it on without any psychological burden. “Then your grounding time has been extended again.”
Zhou Tiantian in the next bed was confused. “When did you beat him up?”
Jiang Yuan had automatically accepted it as fact. “Last night, I sleepwalked.”
“I didn’t sleep all night. How come I didn’t see it?” Zhou Tiantian looked up from his book.
Mu Feng had forgotten about this master of staying up all night. “Maybe you were too immersed in the ocean of learning and didn’t know what was happening in the world anymore.”
“That’s possible.” Zhou Tiantian was thirsty for knowledge. “Can you show me the questions Teacher Liang gave you too?”
Mu Feng handed them over generously. “I find it strange. You love learning so much, how come you only scored sixty-something?”
“Ah, because I played hero at the start of the term and saved a kid from a car accident. Lay in the hospital for three months and missed a lot of classes.” Zhou Tiantian reached out. “Quick, quick, quick. I need to cram.”
Jiang Yuan’s expression changed again and again, crashing as he spoke, “You mean, you missed classes for three months and still passed?”
Zhou Tiantian said lightly, “Yeah. How could anyone with a brain who attends class properly only score those few points? Right, Passing-Grade Bro?”
Jiang Yuan: “………………”
Insult not great, but damage extreme.
He sucked in a breath of cold air, then slowly exhaled. “It’s okay, it’s okay. I still have Mu Bao to cushion the bottom for me. It’s okay.”
Mu Feng smiled kindly but decided to give him some mental preparation. “I’ve been cramming recently too.”
Jiang Yuan comforted himself. “We are the Crouching Dragon and Phoenix Chick. I know you, Mu Bao; self-awareness is precious. We’d definitely be presentable among ordinary students, but here… wash up and sleep.”
“Mn, you’re right.” Mu Feng went along with him. “Then I’ll wash up and sleep.”
He went into the bathroom. He had just applied medicine to his lower back—Liang Yuhang applied it—he couldn’t bear to wash it off, so he carefully avoided that spot and showered with difficulty.
When he came out again, Jiang Yuan was already sleeping soundly with his mouth open.
“What a pig.” Zhou Tiantian clicked his tongue. “Wouldn’t know if someone dragged him out and killed him in the middle of the night.”
“Forget it. Even if Little Jiang does nothing, he has endless money to spend and endless family property to inherit. Don’t worry about him,” Mu Feng said.
Zhou Tiantian gritted his teeth. “I’m going to fight you rich second generations.”
Mu Feng smiled, but the smile didn’t reach his eyes.
He lay on the bed, put the handful of candies into the tin box he carried with him, and placed it under his pillow.
In the morning, he was woken up by knocking. Zhou Tiantian ran to open the door and stared wide-eyed at the visitor. “Junior Mentor, so early?”
“Came to deliver breakfast for you guys.” Liang Jingyi shook the bag in his hand. It was from a restaurant not open to the public. “Chef’s special cuisine.”
Jiang Yuan was woken up, very dissatisfied, muttering softly, “Acting like no one’s ever eaten before. Hick.”
But he was cowardly and didn’t dare scold too loudly.
Mu Feng was also annoyed, his face written with ‘do not disturb.’ “You, an Alpha, running to the Omega dorm early in the morning—aren’t you afraid of being sued for harassment?”
Liang Jingyi: “………”
Sharp-tongued; truly exciting.
If he were an Alpha, it would be even better; easier to provoke the desire to conquer.
He hung the bag on Mu Feng’s wrist. “Just delivering breakfast. Leaving now. See you in the study room.”
Mu Feng didn’t intend to hide it from anyone. Right in front of him, he threw it into the trash can next to him. “Sorry, been wanting to vomit lately, can’t eat.”
Liang Jingyi found it quite strange. Mu Feng’s hostility toward him was heavy, beyond the ordinary, but he was certain they hadn’t had any interaction before.
He raised an eyebrow slightly. “Did I offend you?”
Mu Feng smiled without humor. “Not really. Just feel that stealing someone else’s student isn’t very authentic. Seems like something a beast would do.”
Jiang Yuan sucked in a breath of cold air; his sleepiness vanished.
Mu Bao’s attack power today was boundless.
No matter what, the other party was a young officer in the Research Institute. Being so blunt—wasn’t he afraid of being given tight shoes to wear?
He opened his mouth and winked at Zhou Tiantian, mouthing: Green Hair, go.
Zhou Tiantian rarely united with him, but he dug the bag of food out of the trash can. “It’s fine. It has packaging, it’s clean. I’m hungry, I’ll eat.”
Jiang Yuan slapped his forehead and closed his eyes in despair.
Bro, no need to go that far.
Liang Jingyi turned his head. “Zhou Tiantian, go to the study room yourself this morning. The military has a meeting; I don’t have time to manage you.”
Mu Feng looked at him coldly until the person left.
The three finished breakfast and sat back in the study room. He thought for a moment and messaged Liang Yuhang.
[M]: Liang Jingyi came to harass me early in the morning.
The other side replied with a question mark.
[M]: He just barged straight into the Omega dorm!!! Scared us to death!!! Jiang Yuan cried like a pear blossom bathed in rain. Are you going to manage this matter?
Mu Feng didn’t actually expect Liang Yuhang to do anything; he just wanted an excuse to chat.
Being able to say a couple of words to him made him happy.
“This Liang Jingyi is a true idiot.” Jiang Yuan was still indignant. “He definitely wants to pick you up. My eyes are a ruler.”
Just as Mu Feng was about to say something, his phone vibrated.
Liang Yuhang sent a picture. It was the public meeting minutes of the military department, with one line of text underlined.
[Biochemical Inspection Chief Lieutenant Colonel Liang Jingyi, trespassed into Omega student dormitory, causing adverse effects. Recorded one demerit.]
Then came a voice message. Clicking it open, one could hear the background noise of someone calling him “Colonel Liang, this way please.” Surgery, research, meetings—he must be really busy.
Mu Feng carefully placed it by his ear, clicking it open again and again to play.
“Criticized. He won’t dare do it again.”
