Chapter 44: Not Allowed to Deny
Gu Huaiye came out too hurriedly, wearing only a thin white sweater, making his skin look very white, and his ears were red from the cold.
“Did you come specially to find me?”
Xie Miaohan took his hand, breathing warm air onto it, frowning. “Why are you wearing so little?”
Gu Huaiye was a bit uncomfortable and pulled his hand back.
Afraid Xie Miaohan would hold his hand again, he stuffed both hands into his pants pockets.
“Came out relatively urgently.” Gu Huaiye changed the subject. “You’re going to class?”
“En, have an 8 AM class.” Xie Miaohan nodded, looked him up and down, then suddenly took off his own coat and draped it over Gu Huaiye. “Did you drink? Remember to eat something to sober up.”
“No need.”
Gu Huaiye wanted to take it off and return it, but Xie Miaohan pressed down on his arm.
“There’s heating in the classroom. It’s just a few minutes walk for me. You wear it.” Xie Miaohan looked at him with gentle eyes. “It’s so cold; don’t catch a cold.”
Gu Huaiye pouted and didn’t insist on taking off the coat.
Xie Miaohan looked at his watch. “I’m going to class. Are you free this afternoon? Let’s have a meal together; my treat.”
“Should be free.”
Xie Miaohan suddenly raised his hand and touched Gu Huaiye’s lips.
Gu Huaiye subconsciously dodged. Xie Miaohan’s raised hand paused, then touched his lips again.
Gu Huaiye was a bit angry, wanting to ask what he was doing. The next second, Xie Miaohan’s thumb rubbed the corner of his mouth.
“Stained with blood.”
Gu Huaiye then remembered he had bitten Xie Miaohan’s lip just now. When they kissed, both mouths got a bit of blood on them.
“Alright, fingers are dirty.” Gu Huaiye slapped his hand away.
“Sorry, I’ll keep a handkerchief ready in the future.”
Gu Huaiye glared at him.
Saying it as if he would kiss Xie Miaohan anytime and anywhere.
“I’m going to class.” Xie Miaohan looked at Gu Huaiye reluctantly for a while, then said, “I’ll find you downstairs at your dorm this afternoon.”
“En.” Gu Huaiye pretended to be aloof.
Xie Miaohan’s eyes curved, and finally, he walked around him and left.
Gu Huaiye turned around, staring at Xie Miaohan’s back, his hand unconsciously stroking Xie Miaohan’s coat.
Very rough fabric, and not very warm.
He remembered Xie Miaohan was quite afraid of the cold.
Wonder how he survived the past winters.
Gu Huaiye returned to the dorm to catch up on sleep.
The phone on the pillow rang, waking Gu Huaiye up.
His face darkened slightly. Without looking at the caller, he answered the phone, his tone extremely impatient.
“Not eating anymore. Let’s talk about our matters tomorrow.”
“Ah? Brother Gu, what are you saying? What matters do we have to discuss?”
Gu Huaiye opened his eyes and looked at the phone screen; it was Chen Zirui’s name.
He thought it was Xie Miaohan.
“I slept confused.” Gu Huaiye rolled over, his voice lazy. “What’s up?”
“You left me in the hotel, and you ask me what’s up?” Chen Zirui said angrily. “Do you know how devastated I was when I woke up and found myself in a hotel?”
“Devastated about what?”
“Laozi thought I got drunk and muddle-headedly slept with someone.” Chen Zirui was a bit excited, his voice raising a few pitches. “I don’t reject this kind of thing, but I can’t sleep with inexplicable people. If I provoke someone difficult to deal with, my dad will definitely beat me.”
“Relax, you don’t have that ability.”
Chen Zirui: “…”
“I’m sleeping; don’t disturb me again.”
“Sleep what sleep, come out and continue playing.” Chen Zirui still wanted more. “I know a newly opened nightclub. heard the waiters inside…”
Gu Huaiye interrupted him. “I’ll just indulge for one night. If you want to drink, drink yourself.”
“You’re too much. Use and toss; so I’m your tool, right?”
“Don’t say it so ambiguously. If your brother hears…”
Gu Huaiye suddenly shut his mouth, sobering up a lot.
He and Chen Xialin still had an engagement, but he kissed Xie Miaohan.
Alcohol really ruins things.
He messed things up again.
Everything back to square one.
” let him hear. See if he has the ability to be jealous of me, his brother.”
Gu Huaiye wasn’t in the mood to chat anymore. After perfunctorily saying a few words, he hung up the phone.
He couldn’t sleep anymore, and his stomach felt terrible.
Gu Huaiye simply got out of bed, washed up, and went straight to the nearby convenience store.
In the convenience store, he met an unexpected person.
Wen Xuyue entered the convenience store with a friend to buy milk. Noticing Gu Huaiye’s gaze, he looked up and their eyes met.
This eye contact was something else. Wen Xuyue’s cheeks immediately flushed red. He quickly looked away, pulling his friend to hide behind the shelf.
Gu Huaiye: “…”
Was Wen Xuyue’s liking so obvious?
He was truly blinded by jealousy back then to actually treat such a person as a love rival.
Gu Huaiye paid the bill. When he walked out of the convenience store, he was blocked by Wen Xuyue.
The friend beside Wen Xuyue pushed his shoulder, seeming to encourage him.
Wen Xuyue bit his lip, not daring to look at Gu Huaiye, his voice trembling. “H… hello… can I add… add your WeChat?”
“No.”
Wen Xuyue froze, asking unwillingly, “Why?”
“I’m engaged.”
Wen Xuyue’s face looked a bit ugly. Unable to step down for a moment, he stood helplessly in front of him.
But Gu Huaiye didn’t care at all, walking around him to leave.
After seeing his “love rival” from his previous life, Gu Huaiye became even calmer.
Maybe his rebirth changed many things. Xie Miaohan’s tool for creating scandals suddenly became Xiang Wanxing.
This morning he saw Xie Miaohan and said not to be with him.
He didn’t specify who this person was, but Xie Miaohan nodded and agreed without thinking, as if waiting for his words long ago.
But Gu Huaiye didn’t understand.
What exactly was Xie Miaohan after?
Xiang Wanxing clearly had a better family background, was an Omega, and looked quite well-behaved.
If he really wanted to be a rich man’s son-in-law, Xiang Wanxing was obviously the best choice.
Besides, Xiang Wanxing wasn’t an ordinary person who could be used casually. Even if he was an Omega, the family power behind him was there, making people dread him a bit.
If one day Xiang Wanxing knew Xie Miaohan was using him, he would probably skin Xie Miaohan alive.
Gu Huaiye got more confused the more he thought about it, even suspecting Xie Miaohan planned to place multiple bets to get into one of the wealthy families.
Whether in the previous life or this one, he couldn’t see through Xie Miaohan.
And was a bit… afraid of Xie Miaohan.
Back downstairs at the dorm, he met Xie Miaohan standing at the door.
Xie Miaohan waved at him and strode over.
“I thought you were sleeping in the dorm.” Xie Miaohan looked at the shopping bag in his hand. “You went to the convenience store?”
“En, hungry.”
“Eating these isn’t nutritious. I’ll take you out for a meal.” Xie Miaohan took out his phone and smiled. “I booked a popular restaurant; the reviews are quite good.”
“Forget it, I don’t want to leave the school. Very tired.”
Xie Miaohan was slightly stunned, then nodded. “Okay, there are good restaurants in the school too…”
Gu Huaiye interrupted him. “Let’s just deal with it at the cafeteria.”
“There’s not much food in the cafeteria at this time. Let’s go to a restaurant, the one closest to your dorm.”
No matter how much of a buzzkill Gu Huaiye was, Xie Miaohan still had a smile on his face, seeming like he wouldn’t get angry no matter how he was tossed around.
This made Gu Huaiye extremely depressed, always feeling that Xie Miaohan was wearing a mask, hiding insidiousness and indifference under the false appearance.
“Fine, let’s not eat. Let’s just talk about our matters directly.”
The smile on Xie Miaohan’s face faded a bit, and he carefully held Gu Huaiye’s hand.
“Are you unhappy?” Xie Miaohan said patiently. “Can I ask the reason?”
“That kiss this morning…”
Xie Miaohan quickly interrupted him. “Not allowed to deny.”
Gu Huaiye frowned. “I didn’t say I wouldn’t admit it.”
The tense muscles on Xie Miaohan’s face relaxed a bit, until Gu Huaiye said the next sentence.
“Be my lover. I want to keep you.”
