“Didn’t you say you only wanted to be responsible for him?” Chen Zirui stared at his side profile, probing cautiously. “I think financial aid is quite good. The relationship stays clean, there’s no excessive entanglement, and it’ll be easier to cut ties later.”

Gu Huaiye remained silent, his long eyelashes concealing the emotions in his eyes, his thoughts unreadable.

“Unless…” Chen Zirui paused. “Unless you never planned to cut ties with him cleanly. The longer this drags on, the deeper you’ll fall.”

Gu Huaiye finally spoke, “I won’t fall for him.”

Chen Zirui didn’t believe him for a second. “If you didn’t care, how could you be willing to offend my dad for him? Brother Gu, you really need to wake up. I’m not saying this for my brother’s sake. Even if you don’t marry my brother in the end and choose another Omega with high compatibility, I would still give you my blessings.”

Gu Huaiye knew Chen Zirui was sincere.

On this day, heavy snow was falling outside. Traffic was inconvenient, so Gu Huaiye chose to work from home.

The phone on the table suddenly vibrated.

Thinking it was his Little Uncle, he answered without looking.

“Hello?”

The wind on the other end was loud, making it hard to hear clearly.

Gu Huaiye frowned, looked at the screen, and saw Xie Miaohan’s name.

“Is it Xie Miaohan? What’s wrong?”

“I’m downstairs at your apartment. Can you come down and pick me up?” Xie Miaohan’s voice trembled slightly. “I have nowhere else to go.”

Gu Huaiye stood up immediately and walked to the window to look down.

In the vast expanse of white snow, Xie Miaohan’s figure looked tiny and lifeless, as if he could be buried by the drifting snow at any moment, erasing any trace of his existence.

Gu Huaiye’s heart twitched with pain. He immediately threw on an overcoat.

When he reached the door, he turned back, took the warmest jacket from the walk-in closet, and rushed out of the apartment.

Arriving at the main gate, he saw Xie Miaohan squatting on the ground, his face terrifyingly pale. Anger surged out of nowhere.

“Are you an idiot? Couldn’t you find a warmer place to wait for me?”

While scolding, Gu Huaiye draped the jacket over Xie Miaohan.

Xie Miaohan stood up, hugged Gu Huaiye’s waist, and buried his face in his neck.

A chill hit him, and Gu Huaiye couldn’t help but shiver.

“You’re so warm.” Xie Miaohan whispered, “I have nowhere to go. Can you take me in?”
