Chapter 3: The Feeling of Being in Love with the Supreme Leader!
The next day, Ye Zhile was woken up by a servant. Perhaps he had been too excited the night before, but he had woken up intermittently and hadn’t slept well, resulting in two faint dark circles under his eyes.
The young man hadn’t fully come to his senses and thought he was still at home. He went downstairs in his pajamas, only realizing his mistake when he sat at the dining table and saw Ji Shuohan already neatly dressed.
Ye Zhile rushed back up to change clothes, finally coming down in a white hoodie and jeans. He smiled awkwardly and stayed quiet.
Ji Shuohan glanced at him and said, “You don’t need to get up so early. You can sleep in.”
“What about you?” Ye Zhile asked him.
“I have to go to the Ministry,” Ji Shuohan said.
“Are you this busy every day?” Ye Zhile looked at him with expectant eyes. “Then what time will you come back tonight?”
Ye Zhile harbored his own little thoughts. After all, the person he had admired for so long was now his husband. He wanted more time to be close to him. But then he heard Ji Shuohan say, “There are many matters at the Ministry, so my time is uncertain. Do you need something from me?”
Ye Zhile shook his head, but his little emotions were written all over his face. “Nothing, I was just asking.”
Seeing the disappointment on the little Omega’s face, Ji Shuohan assumed he was bored. After all, he was a pampered young master with nothing to do but play. He said, “You can do whatever you want. If you are bored, the wives and daughters of the dukes hold tea parties. You can interact with them.”
“But…” Before Ye Zhile could finish, he saw Ji Shuohan put down his knife and fork, wipe his hands, get up, and leave. “Eh! I…”
Ye Zhile watched his back gradually disappear out the main door before muttering to himself, “But I don’t like those gatherings…”
Although Ye Zhile was the youngest son of the Military Minister, only those close to his father knew this. Most people only knew the Minister had two sons, both Alphas. Very few knew of Ye Zhile’s existence, which was also a form of protection for him.
Ye Zhile propped his chin up, eating and playing like a child.
“Madam, eating like this will cause poor digestion,” Uncle Xu said cheerfully as he walked over.
Ye Zhile felt embarrassed. He sat up properly. After finishing breakfast, everyone in the huge manor went about their business. Ye Zhile wandered around for a while before finally lying on the sofa in boredom.
“So bored~” Ye Zhile mumbled. He still had half a month before school started. Usually, at home, he would either follow his Dad to the Political Ministry to study, go out to eat and play with friends, or occasionally study at the library. Now he wanted to go out and play too, but here at the Leader’s Manor, someone would follow him wherever he went.
Just then, Xiao Ruo walked over. “If Madam is really bored, you can come with us to the garden to trim the flowers and plants.”
“Okay!” Ye Zhile immediately scrambled up. The servant handed him a pair of shears, put a sun hat on him, and urged, “Madam must be careful. Please don’t hurt yourself.”
“Okay.” Ye Zhile agreed.
The garden was quite large, with a pavilion in the middle. The stone path leading to the pavilion was lined with yellow roses on both sides. Ye Zhile’s gloomy mood improved significantly, but he really wasn’t cut out for this work; quite a few flowers were destroyed by his hands.
Ye Zhile looked at the “corpses” of the flowers, then at Xiao Ruo’s expression—one of struggling to find words but not daring to speak. Ye Zhile gave a dry laugh. “Sorry…”
“It-It’s okay.” Xiao Ruo pretended to casually take the shears and small hoe from his hands. “It’s normal for Madam not to know how to do these things. You can just watch us do it.”
In fact, everyone felt that the new master of the manor had a very likable personality. He put on no airs, wasn’t arrogant, was beautiful and cute, and smiled often. He looked like a young master who had been doted on by his family but wasn’t spoiled rotten.
Ye Zhile ended up sitting in a rocking chair, watching them trim.
Ye Zhile ate dinner alone. It wasn’t until eleven o’clock that Ji Shuohan returned.
Ji Shuohan had intended to go straight upstairs, but out of the corner of his eye, he glimpsed the thin figure on the sofa. He turned and walked over.
Ye Zhile was sleeping soundly, covered by a small blanket pulled up to his chin, looking charmingly naive and young. Just as Ji Shuohan prepared to bend down and carry him upstairs, Ye Zhile groggily woke up. Ji Shuohan froze, and the two stared at each other, extremely awkward.
Ye Zhile sat up hurriedly, almost bumping into him. “The Leader is back.”
“Mn.” Ji Shuohan nodded. “Why are you sleeping here?”
“I was waiting for you,” Ye Zhile said, wrapping the small blanket tighter around himself. “The manor is too boring. Can you accompany me and chat with me?”
Ye Zhile had just turned eighteen, still too young. Having left home for the first time, the only person he could rely on was his nominal husband. But the age gap between the two was significant—a full twelve years—creating a generational gap in communication.
Ji Shuohan didn’t know how to answer. Marrying the Omega before him was truly a matter of necessity. The Military was the main force of the Empire, and both of Ye Zhile’s brothers were frontline corps commanders. This time, the conflict between the Federation and the Empire threatened the citizens, requiring Ye Junting and Wen Yumo to go negotiate. If the talks succeeded, a war would be avoided; if not, the entire Empire would be shaken.
Therefore, to ensure Ye Zhile had the strongest sanctuary, Ye Junting had proposed the requirement that Ji Shuohan marry Ye Zhile.
“I heard you got into Imperial Star University?” Ji Shuohan took the opportunity to sit down beside him and asked.
“Yes!” The little excitement in Ye Zhile’s eyes was unmistakable. “Aren’t I amazing? I heard the Leader also graduated from Imperial Star University! I got into the Leader’s alma mater!”
Of course, Ye Zhile hadn’t just “heard”—he had been paying attention to Ji Shuohan all along. Knowing that Ji Shuohan’s alma mater was one of the top military academies in the Empire, he had studied hard in high school, hoping to one day graduate from the same school as the person he liked.
“Imperial Star University specializes in mech design and development. What major did you choose?” Ji Shuohan asked him.
“Journalism and Communication,” Ye Zhile said.
“That’s good.” Ji Shuohan said nothing more. “Go to sleep early. It’s already very late.”
With that, Ji Shuohan took the lead to go upstairs.
“Oh.” Ye Zhile wrapped his little blanket around himself and followed behind Ji Shuohan. When they reached the top of the stairs, Ji Shuohan suddenly turned around. Ye Zhile was startled; losing his footing, he was about to fall, but luckily, Ji Shuohan had quick hands and eyes. He grabbed Ye Zhile’s waist with one hand and pulled him back.
Ye Zhile lay against his chest, turning as red as a cooked crab. His heart went thump-thump, and the Enigma’s cold pheromones made him dizzy. He didn’t even dare to lift his head, staring blankly at Ji Shuohan’s collar.
The Omega’s simple thoughts were all displayed on his face. His eyes were watery, like an ignorant little deer falling into a sweet trap—beautiful and dangerous.
Ji Shuohan frowned slightly, released him, and stepped back. “Be careful.”
“Okay.” Ye Zhile nodded frantically. He looked up at Ji Shuohan once, then quickly looked away and hurried off, his limbs slightly uncoordinated. When he reached his room door, he turned around. “Goodnight, Leader.”
“Mn.” Ji Shuohan nodded. After watching the little Omega return to his room, he walked toward his own bedroom.
Back in his room, Ye Zhile cupped his hot face, giggling foolishly. He had never been in love, but he had seen others in love. That sweet, happy feeling was exactly what he was feeling now.
