Chapter 10: What is There to Dare Not?
Seeing the gates open, the disciples instantly arranged their formation.
They divided into two groups, standing in an inner and outer circle, then alternating so that everyone could have a chance to breathe.
Feng Shi was also arranged to stand in the second circle. After changing his appearance, no one recognized him.
Amidst bursts of roaring, huge demon beasts rushed out one after another, and thick black demonic energy spiraled in the air.
Feng Shi waited in full battle array.
At first, there weren’t too many demon beasts, but as time increased, the demon beasts became denser and denser. The people in front were already struggling.
Just as a demon beast with a huge body—filling almost a quarter of the space—rushed out from the gate, all previous arrangements seemed to become a joke.
The giant beast was clumsy but tyrannical; as soon as it came out, it punched two disciples away.
Everyone fell into disarray and instantly scattered in panic. Feng Shi had never seen such a huge guy either. He was amazed for a moment, then locked his eyes on a familiar figure not far away. He raised his breath and took a few steps over, grabbing the other party’s wrist to hide behind a pile of rubble.
The giant beast’s stone palm fell, smashing a huge deep pit where Feng Shi had just stood.
Feng Shi tightened his grip and poked his head out to check. Seeing the giant beast had changed direction, he breathed a sigh of relief.
Recovering his wits, he turned to look at the person beside him, only to discover in horror that the other party was also staring at him. Furthermore, the look in his eyes was unkind; the cold gaze made Feng Shi’s scalp tighten.
“Uh… I was anxious and just…”
Feng Shi recalled the description in the original work. The Flower of the High Peak didn’t really like others touching him. Even during that kind of time, he rejected intimate contact with the Tops.
Simply put, he seemed to have a bit of germaphobia.
Sure enough, in the next instant, Shen Songhe shook off his hand indifferently, then wiped his hand with a handkerchief while finding time to kill the small demon beasts crowding up.
Feng Shi watched his actions, secretly curling his lips, and looked down at his own clean and fair palms.
After wiping his hands, Shen Songhe didn’t look at him again and flew in another direction.
While dealing with the lingering monsters and ghosts around him with some difficulty, Feng Shi leaned toward Shen Songhe.
What followed was several hours of continuous fighting.
When it ended, Feng Shi’s legs were shaking from exhaustion, but at least he hadn’t died.
The first wave finally passed. They had half an hour to rest.
At this time, some people were already out of the game. Feng Shi found a spot where he could see Shen Songhe and sat down to regulate his breath.
After several hours, Feng Shi had become very bedraggled. His face was dirty, and his clothes and hair were wet, sticking to his skin.
Without the identity of “Feng Shi,” it was much quieter around him; he was completely a transparent person.
He saw Cao Ni seeming to look for him, and in his heart, he began to calculate how to kill the other party later.
Half an hour later, the second wave began.
Feng Shi and a few cultivators beside him tacitly formed a small team. Just like this, they endured for a day and a half, feeling that his account was already ruined from grinding.
After the second wave, everyone entered a period of exhaustion. Even Cao Ni, who always appeared to handle things with ease, was somewhat disheveled.
Feng Shi observed the other party secretly and found that two people who fought with him originally were missing; only two men and one woman remained.
When it started again, Feng Shi chose to follow Cao Ni, sticking very close to him from the start.
Because of this new face, the other party didn’t detect his intention.
Feng Shi waved the broken sword in his hand, squinting at the back in front of him.
When the largest giant beast of this round appeared, Feng Shi deliberately made a noise to attract it, then took the opportunity to hide behind Cao Ni.
The giant bear-shaped demon beast turned at the sound, its sharp heavy claws swinging over and whipping up a strong gale.
Cao Ni was thrown into confusion by the sudden change. He had no time to attend to the culprit behind him and made a move to block.
However, with his stamina severely depleted, he couldn’t possibly take this solid frontal blow.
Cao Ni’s sword turned into powder under the huge fluctuation of spiritual power. He himself couldn’t bear it and vomited blood, retreating a few steps in panic before falling to the ground unable to get up.
Feng Shi took action in time, pulling him out from under the giant beast’s hand and hiding him behind a fake mountain.
Although he escaped a disaster, Cao Ni was seriously injured, leaning against the ground with a very ugly expression.
“Many thanks.” His chest heaved violently as he coughed up blood continuously.
Feng Shi looked down at him condescendingly, hooking the corner of his lips: “No need to be polite, Senior Brother.”
Only then did Cao Ni find time to lift his eyes and look at the person in front of him.
A strange face, dirty like a patterned cat.
It wasn’t someone he knew.
Looking at the expression of the person in front of him, Cao Ni faintly perceived something wrong and couldn’t help frowning to ask: “Why save me?”
Hearing this, Feng Shi smiled even wider, revealing neat teeth. Subsequently, he raised the broken sword in his hand: “Nothing much, I just felt that—letting you die just like that is a bit too easy for you.”
After hearing this, Cao Ni’s pupils shrank abruptly. A trace of sinister ruthlessness appeared on his face as his shaking hand tried to touch his sword, gritting his teeth: “You dare!”
Feng Shi was speechless: “What is there to dare not?”
Cao Ni had long lost the power to fight back; he couldn’t even crawl, let alone draw a sword.
Feng Shi scoffed coldly. The hand holding the sword fell without hesitation, cleanly drawing a beautiful arc.
Same location, same bright red color. Scalding liquid fell into the yellow earth.
Cao Ni’s voice and movements all stopped abruptly, staring at Feng Shi with splitting eyes.
Feng Shi looked at his body, which disappeared not long after, feeling a bit unhappy in his heart.
He had experienced the entire process of death completely, but this guy had it good—he went directly out.
Flicking the blood off the broken sword, Feng Shi opened the System panel.
Very good, the points weren’t counted against me.
And this small farce wasn’t noticed by anyone at all. Everyone was too busy looking after themselves. Even when Feng Shi removed the disguise on his body and joined the battle again with his original appearance, no one noticed anything wrong.
It was just that by this stage, Feng Shi couldn’t hold on anymore. If it weren’t for not wanting to taste the flavor of death again in a short time, he probably wouldn’t have persisted this long.
Shen Songhe had, after all, eaten pills for a hundred years more than them. After two days, apart from somewhat messy hair and clothes and slight injuries, his posture wasn’t too ugly.
Feng Shi complained to Qingqing that Shen Songhe obviously didn’t need his protection at all. Moreover, if something happened here, at most he would just be sent out. Was this mission really this easy?
Qingqing replied: 【Host, you don’t understand this, right? Your life setting is a Tool Man, so the protagonist is the center of your world. From the moment life begins until the mission ends, the Host belongs to the protagonist~ Please be sure to prioritize the protagonist!】
After speaking, it added faintly: 【Detected that the current Side Mission 2 rating is ‘Good’. Please increase interaction with Shen Songhe, Host. Keep up the good work! Otherwise, not only will there be no reward, but points will also be deducted additionally!】
Feng Shi scrunched up his face and rolled up from the ground limply.
He had a premonition that he would definitely die in the next wave.
But even if he died, he had to die with value!
So he got up and rubbed his way slowly to Shen Songhe’s disguised persona.
“Senior Brother Lin Tong…”
Hearing the familiar voice, Shen Songhe paused the wiping motion of his hand and looked up.
The person in front of him was already too dirty to look at, leaving only a pair of eyes looking at him moistly and brightly.
Feng Shi forced a smile. Just as he wanted to sit down beside Shen Songhe, a snow-white sword shadow pressed against his throat.
