I Said It Was a Catfish Photo ABO Chapter 21.2

Part 2

Xie Ren said coldly, “Fat chance. Because I’m never going to K9 in this life.”

Xie Chengfeng flew into a rage. “What do you mean? You want to work in the Falcon Regiment forever? Your missions have too high a danger index. You have to move to the second line after forty. I’m telling you, don’t be stubborn…”

Xie Ren interrupted him impatiently. “Did you call just for this?”

Xie Chengfeng regained his reason and said grumpily, “Of course not. Anyway, don’t be obstinate with me. When you reach the age, come to K9. I’ve already paved the way for you. Rising to my position within three years won’t be hard. Alright, enough of that. I’m looking for you about the Gun Expo. Old Tang said you’re in charge of security. Patrol well. Afterward, come on stage to present awards with me. TV stations want photos.”

“Speaking of this, I have a favor to ask you,” Xie Ren said seriously. “Dad, can you pretend not to know me then?”

Xie Chengfeng: “…What did you say?”

A few seconds later, Xie Ren held the communicator away from his ear.

From the other end came a torrent of abuse: “Fuck! I… &*%ï¿¥ unfilial son! Your father I… %ï¿¥#@&…”

Too dirty.

Xie Ren hung up expressionlessly.

He opened StarChat and messaged Xie Chengfeng, asking him to calm down, and proposed again that he pretend not to know him, as going up to present awards would easily expose his identity.

If Yu Shi discovered he wasn’t poor, he probably wouldn’t pay attention to him anymore.

He hit send, only to find he had been blocked by his father.

Great. No need to present awards then.

A notification popped up at the top.

Pink Cannonball: 【Your intimate friend “Little Yu Doesn’t Eat Fish” is online.】

Xie Ren glanced at it and almost dropped his communicator.

The old man was sneaking online to chat again. The intimacy score was skyrocketing—there was even an online notification now.

He opened Pink Cannonball irritably. Seeing the other party’s nickname hadn’t changed, he felt even more disgusted.

[Little Yu Doesn’t Eat Fish: What for?]

[Thank You Whole Family: Fee to change your name. Change your nickname.]

Yu Shi scrolled through the screen in confusion. The person on the other end seemed like a different person—arrogant, rude, and supercilious.

—Or perhaps not a different person, but after chatting for so long, the true face was finally revealed.

[Little Yu Doesn’t Eat Fish: Why should I change?]

[Thank You Whole Family: I have a friend named Yu. I don’t want to see others using his surname.]

Yu Shi frowned deeply.

He felt the person opposite was sick in the head.

Enduring his anger, he typed to extract more information: [Boy/Girlfriend?]

[Thank You Whole Family: Not exactly. Just someone I’ve admired for a long time. Are you changing it or not?]

Yu Shi thought for a moment and found an excuse: [I changed it once before. It’s still in the cooldown period. What does your friend do?]

[Thank You Whole Family: Similar to you.]

[Thank You Whole Family: What is your position at the Third Institute?]

[Little Yu Doesn’t Eat Fish: Researcher.]

[Thank You Whole Family: So vague. Do you know where the Third Institute’s gate opens?]

[Little Yu Doesn’t Eat Fish: ?]

[Thank You Whole Family: Just asking casually. Don’t mind /hehe/]

[Little Yu Doesn’t Eat Fish: You’re a grad student at NDU, right.]

[Thank You Whole Family: So?]

[Little Yu Doesn’t Eat Fish: Do you know where the NDU gate opens?]

[Thank You Whole Family: …]

The chat box was filled with the smell of gunpowder. Both sides realized the other was difficult to deal with, their expressions uglier than the next.

Yu Shi simply closed the app, his avatar turning gray.

A few minutes later, StarChat notified of a new message.

[Bard: Feeling any better?]

Yu Shi replied to Xie Ren: [Much better. Thanks for caring.]

[Bard: I should thank you for helping me apply for the subsidy. Are you free this weekend? I want to treat you to a meal.]

[Bard: My allowance came in. I know a nice restaurant.]

[Bard: Their mango mousse cake is especially delicious.]

Yu Shi saw the last sentence and wavered. Remembering Li Yang said there was a class gathering on the weekend, he readily agreed: [Okay.]

Xie Ren sighed in relief. His nervousness gradually subsided, only for his heart to start pounding wildly again.

He opened the browser and searched: What to wear for a first date with an Omega.

He deleted the text. Wait, does this count as a date?

He searched again: What to wear for a first meal with an Omega.

Zhao Yi was playing games on the opposite bed and shouted, “Brother Ren, what are you doing? Come carry me, I can’t pass this level.”

Xie Ren startled awake. Shit, what am I doing?

Searching for such useless stuff. It’s just a meal; wear whatever.

He quickly closed the webpage. “Coming. Let’s play a couple of rounds.”

They played heartily until lights out.

Zhao Yi yawned and lay down. Just as he was about to enter dreamland, piercing light came from the opposite bed. He opened his eyes groggily.

Xie Ren clung to the edge of the bed. “Yi-zi, send me the contact for your stylist friend.”

“Huh? Okay.”

“Also, lend me that car of yours for the weekend.”

“Which one?”

“The Land Rover you posted on your feed. The one Instructor Yu liked.”

Xie Ren tossed a key over. “Swap driving. This one’s yours.”

Zhao Yi was stunned by the Koenigsegg key. His eyes widened as he woke up fully. “Holy shit! Dad! Godfather! My Land Rover is yours!”

On Friday after training, Li Yang reminded him, “Instructor Yu, don’t forget the gathering tomorrow.”

He sent a schedule: visit the Interstellar Museum during the day, handmade weapon crafting in the afternoon, and dinner on Zhongxing Road in the evening.

“Trust me, after a whole day, you’ll definitely break the ice and infiltrate their ranks,” Li Yang said with high morale.

Yu Shi scanned the schedule. “Are you sure they’ll like this?”

“Of course. It has knowledge popularization and teacher-student interaction. We can play some fun mini-games during dinner. Based on my teaching experience, the distance will shorten a lot after a day.”

Yu Shi nodded. “See you tomorrow then.”

“Tomorrow… I’m not going.”

“Do you have other matters?”

“No, I…” Li Yang mumbled. “You guys have fun. I won’t participate.”

Yu Shi understood. He said to him, “Don’t worry, Han Po doesn’t dare do anything to you. Besides, you have to coexist for a year. If he does anything excessive, report it to the school or the Ministry of Education.”

He sent a contact card to Li Yang. “This is the Editor-in-Chief of the Skysundial Daily. If Han Po acts rudely again, you can contact him for exposure. Say I sent you.”

Li Yang’s eyes widened. “N-No need… Instructor Yu, you’re so amazing, knowing such a big shot. Skysundial Daily is national media… I mean, you’re amazing yourself. Anyway, thank you!”

“Come with us tomorrow.”

“…Okay!” Li Yang nodded gratefully.

The next day, the shuttle bus parked at the school gate.

The Interstellar Museum was in Zone 3, requiring an interstellar train ride.

Blue Star’s composition was unique. Zones 1 to 3 were on the same planet. Zones 4 to 6 were on the First Companion Star, and Zones 7 to 9 on the Second Companion Star. Travel on the same planet required a train; different planets required a starship.

Zones 1 and 2 belonged to the Sundial Republic. Zone 3 belonged to the neighbor, Desai Republic. The two countries were once one.

The students were all in casual wear. When Yu Shi walked out with his backpack, Alphas poked their heads out of the car windows one after another.

He wore casual clothes suitable for outdoors: a navy blue T-shirt and trousers, with a baseball cap hanging on his bag. It accentuated his red lips and white teeth; his features were picturesque.

The Alphas stared in unison for a few seconds, then lowered their heads in tacit understanding. Xu Ze bumped Ye Bingyang’s leg, and Ye Bingyang bumped him back, revealing a meaningful expression.

“What are you looking at? Careful someone peels you.”

“Didn’t you look too? Fuck.”

Just as Yu Shi was about to board, a honk sounded nearby. A black Land Rover drove out from off-campus and stopped beside him.

Now the Alphas in the bus poked their heads out again.

“Wow, that Range Rover is cool.”

“Looks familiar. Feel like I’ve seen it somewhere.”

“It’s Yi-zi’s car. For a parking spot, our Young Master Yi even bought a house nearby.”

“Damn, filthy rich.”

The window rolled down, revealing a face handsome enough to incite anger. Few people could be so handsome it made others mad; Xie Ren was the first.
