Chapter 31: Let’s Make a Deal: Mark Me part 1
Lu Zhi, having been given the cold shoulder by his “wife” again, was in a foul mood. He had kindly reminded Tang Xingye to eat, yet the other hadn’t even bothered to lift his eyes, radiating an aura of “don’t disturb my work.”
Late at night, Lu Zhi logged into the anonymous campus forum and was suddenly drawn to a hot post on the homepage. It was a piece of fan art depicting Tang Xingye in the dimly lit training room.
In the image, he was drenched, his shirt clinging to him and outlining a slender waist. A flush of red floated on his cold, pale face, adding a touch of thickness to his indifferent expression, while his black hair stuck messily to his forehead.
When the corners of his eyes curved up, that tear mole was almost searing.
“Scared now?” The Tang Xingye in the drawing tilted his chin slightly, a hint of mockery playing on his lips.
“Weren’t you quite capable just now?” The text in the speech bubble seemed to carry sound; Lu Zhi could almost hear Tang Xingyeās unique, cold, and textured voice ringing in his ears.
The comic strip ended on a final frame:
A drop of sweat happened to slide from the tip of his nose, hanging precariously on the bead of his slightly upturned lip. He unconsciously licked his lips lightlyāa subtle movement that made his already full lips glisten with an even more inviting sheen.
The fan art was top-tier, vividly capturing Tang Xingyeās abstinent yet seductive temperament. Unfortunately, the comments below were filthy.
[Screenshot taken. This is my new wallpaper. That lip bead is practically begging for a kiss; I want to grind it gently with my canines.]
[Who gets it? Heās all wet, like I messed up Wifey until he was muddy and couldn’t be put away. I want to press him against the wall and make him even dirtier.]
[Prpr Wifeyās waist… itās really so thin, I could choke it with one hand.]
[Wifey even said “Is that it?” Why is it so thrilling coming from my Wifeyās mouth? Iām already hard to the point of pain. I can’t take it; I have to make Wifey cry in front of everyone today.]
[Wifey, curse me! Look down on me with those cold eyes! Better yet, step on my face and call me “trash”!]
[I want to marinate Wifey in my pheromones so everyone can smell my scent on him.]
Dark environments always breed dark thoughts. Lu Zhi instantly became hyper-aroused, his breathing turning scorching hot.
The explicit comments in the section automatically converted into images in his mind: in the humid air of the training room, Tang Xingye pressed against the mirror, his cold white skin flushing pink, that tear mole trembling…
Lu Zhi abruptly locked his screen and slammed the phone face down on the desk.
“Don’t think about it.” Lu Zhi rubbed his face forcefully, the gland at the back of his neck faintly burning. He quickly saved the image, then reported the explicit comments one by one. His movements were nearly violent, as if punishing himself for his delusions just moments ago.
After reporting the last one, Lu Zhi stared blankly at the black screen. The dorm was quiet enough to hear his own heartbeat, yet that wave of heat refused to recede.
He needed a cold shower.
The next day, Tang Xingye carried an unusually cold attitude. Although he spoke little as usual, Pei Lian could inexplicably sense that he was extremely irritable.
Tang Xingye currently had the scent of an Alphaās pheromones on him. It wasn’t Lu Zhiās; Pei Lian didn’t know which dogās it was, and he didn’t know how to describe the feeling.
Pei Lian saw Tang Xingye looking at him with impatience, his eyes saying: If you have something to say, say it; if not, get lost. Pei Lian opened his mouth but ultimately took a step back and left resentfully.
In fact, Tang Xingyeās bad mood had nothing to do with Lu Zhi. This time, he finished his work at maximum hand speed and left the laboratory early.
“You’re finally here; I was planning to go find you!” Shen Qing waved at him with a happy smile, then looked puzzled, reaching out to touch his forehead. “Why is your face so red? Is the air conditioning not on in the lab?”
At this moment, Tang Xingye was incredibly grateful that Shen Qing was a Beta. Betas couldn’t smell pheromones, except for extremely rare casesālike him.
He subconsciously took half a step back, his Adam’s apple rolling. The gland at the back of his neck was burning.
“Xingye, are you okay?” Shen Qing leaned closer. Hearing Tang Xingyeās slightly heavy breathing, she frowned and grabbed his wrist without explanation. The skin she touched was frighteningly hot.
Tang Xingye wanted to pull his hand back but found he couldn’t break free. He managed a strained smile: “I’m fine, maybe the lab was too stuffy.”
Shen Qing held his arm firmly: “Go sit on the bench over there first.”
Tang Xingye shook his head slightly. He knew Shen Qing was busy, and his own coursework was heavy. It was rare to find time to grab a meal together, and he didn’t want boring, unexpected factors to disrupt the plan.
“Do you still have the strength to talk? Do you have a fever?” Shen Qing observed his complexion, hesitating slightly. She could feel Tang Xingyeās abnormal body temperature.
“It’s nothing, I’ll be fine after drinking some water.” Shen Qing couldn’t guess that Tang Xingye was feverish due to pheromones.
He had thought it wasn’t a big deal, so he hadn’t injected a soothing agent.
Shen Qing: “I’ll carry you to the infirmary to check your temperature.”
“Really, no need. I’ll rest for a moment, go back to the lab, and then we can go eat.” Tang Xingye wanted to recover his usual state; he had looked forward to treating his friend to a meal for a long time.
Shen Qing frowned slightly. “If you really feel uncomfortable, go to the infirmary. Don’t force yourselfā”
“Really, it’s fine, Senior Sister. I’m very good.”
“Are you in your heat period?” Shen Qing looked serious, her tone soft.
Although the words sounded absurdāBetas didn’t have pheromones, so how could they have a heat period?āTang Xingyeās current state really resembled an Omega whose heat had arrived early.
Tang Xingye: “……”
“Xingye.” Shen Qing called him again, her tone stern.
He didn’t want to see those gentle eyes, so he averted his gaze, looking at the vibrant greenery behind Shen Qing. “I’ll be fine with a shot of soothing agent. If you’re worried, I’ll bring two more shots, and we can still go out according to the original plan.”
Shen Qing didn’t answer. The air suddenly solidified for a moment.
“Xingye,” Shen Qing spoke suddenly, her tone very light, soft enough to be a sigh. “If I hadn’t noticed, how did you plan to go out with me? What if there was danger? I wouldn’t know your condition, and if an accident happened, I would be very sad.”
Tang Xingye looked at the worry between her brows. “…I’m sorry.”
Shen Qing suddenly smiled. “No need to apologize. Rather, I should be the one apologizing for not noticing your condition soonerā”
Tang Xingye felt a bit guilty. He pursed his lips, his voice carrying a hint of frustration: “The plan is ruined. It’s not good for me to go to the cafeteria now; I can only order takeout.”
Shen Qing patted his shoulder gently, comforting him. “That’s also good. I’ve been ordering takeout lately; I kind of miss it.” She blinked. “What’s happy is eating with a friend, not where we eat.”
Tang Xingye gave a hum of agreement. The pheromone issue couldn’t be dragged out; it had to be resolved quickly.
Tang Xingye looked at the data on the report, his fingertips curling slightly.
The doctor pushed up his glasses, the gaze behind the lenses holding professional concern as he clasped his hands. “Tell me, how did your condition get worse again?”
Tang Xingye looked displeased: “Recently, Alphas are always releasing pheromones on me.”
For a moment, he suspected Zhou Lin had deliberately spread the news of his sensitivity to pheromones. But learning that Zhou Lin had been ambushed and injured even more severely by an unknown person in the hospital, he temporarily dismissed that suspicion.
Zhou Lin should be busy/dizzy trying to find out who ambushed him right now and hadn’t harassed him.
The doctor sighed, the sound of flipping through the medical record exceptionally clear in the quiet consulting room. “Your gland has been exposed to pheromones for a long time. If this continues…”
“I know the consequences,” Tang Xingye interrupted.
Tang Xingye was sensitive to pheromones. If it was just breathing, he could barely endure it, but active release was different.
His gland felt sticky, as if liquid would flow out every second, winding down his skin.
The sensation of being hit with pheromones was nauseating. If he were bitten and injected with pheromones, that warm feeling would only remain in his body.
His mind was clear, but his body heated up on its own, wanting to press his consciousness into deep, empty water, craving the world’s most violent thrusts.
