Chapter 110: Confrontation with the Queen / A Shocking Reversal
The man behind him didn’t speak.
He merely released a little more soothing pheromones.
Shen Zhuo fought back the urge to cry, his chest feeling heavily oppressed.
This was the longest they had been apart.
And the time that worried him the most.
Only in front of Du Xun did Shen Zhuo realize that his self-control, which he took pride in, couldn’t even hold back his tears.
A warm touch landed on his cheek; the Alpha gently wiped away the tears spilling from the boy’s eyes.
No blame, no questions.
The moment Du Xun saw the boy, he actually hadn’t thought of anything.
Du Xun placed Shen Zhuo’s hand over his heart and tapped the back of his hand.
Shen Zhuo immediately understood and activated [Listening Heart].
[This is a trap. Leave quickly.]
The light was very dim. Du Xun saw the boy’s hazy silhouette turn his head and shake it.
Du Xun knew his Omega was always stubborn.
Unable to sway him, he sighed helplessly.
[Then use the least amount of time to find her.]
[She is in the innermost room. She is about to give birth.]
Shen Zhuo looked toward the place Du Xun mentioned. It was pitch black.
There was only a faint smell of blood.
Shen Zhuo made a hand gesture, asking for a safe route.
Du Xun raised his hand and summoned a virtual sand table; the faint blue light was particularly distinct in the room.
The two quietly moved along the route.
They arrived safely at the door of the room.
Shen Zhuo took out his lock-picking tools and fiddled with them quietly a few times.
With a click, the lock opened.
But just as Shen Zhuo wanted to open the door, his wrist was grabbed.
This was the second time Shen Zhuo had been subjected to the suppression pheromones of an S5.
His body couldn’t react in time and was instantly pinned to the spot, unable to move.
Shen Zhuo’s pupils contracted sharply as he watched Du Xun stand up, raise his hand.
And open the door.
Inside the room was light so bright it was blindingly white.
It was the gun muzzles of Chu Bai Xian and other military personnel, who had been waiting for a long time.
And…
“…Du Xun!!!”
After the Alpha was hit in the heart, his body fell backward.
Shen Zhuo struggled desperately against the pheromone suppression to grab the man.
His fingertips were only a few centimeters away from Du Xun’s blood-stained shirt.
Shen Zhuo’s lips trembled a few times.
For a few seconds, he felt his heart stop.
What kind of feeling was that?
Probably ten times more painful than having his glands cut out alive in his previous life.
Like a sharp blade made of salt stabbing into his heart, cut by cut.
It wouldn’t cause immediate death, but it was more agonizing than death by a thousand cuts.
His body began to tremble involuntarily.
That shot was fired by Chu Bai Xian.
Chu Bai Xian’s short, sharp hair could no longer hide the coldness in his eyes.
He lowered his gun, pointing it at Shen Zhuo’s forehead, expressionless.
“I said, you would get him killed,” a female voice came from the stairwell.
All the lights in the room were turned on, making it as bright as day in an instant.
“Look, how pitiful Du Xun is, taking a bullet for you.”
It was Feng Mu Ya’s voice. She sneered and tutted a few times.
Coming from the staircase entrance.
Behind her followed the Queen, who was clapping.
“Dying for a lover, how foolishly pathetic.”
When the Queen passed the man’s body lying on the ground, she only cast a fleeting glance.
Then she looked at Shen Zhuo, who was trembling all over, his face as pale as paper.
“Jie Zhen.”
The Queen called out loudly, a hint of a smile in her voice.
Laughing at Shen Zhuo’s presumed cleverness.
Laughing at Shen Zhuo’s overestimation of his own abilities.
A long-haired man walked out from a hidden door on the other side.
Behind him, three people were being escorted.
They were Fu Qi Shang, Ai Li, and An.
“I advise you not to use rank suppression.”
Jie Zhen held a syringe between his fingers—one that had already been emptied.
“Otherwise, your pheromones won’t avoid your companions anymore. It might even cause them to die first.”
Jie Zhen still looked like a refined gentleman.
Suit, long hair, gold-rimmed glasses, amiable smile.
Only, with those excessively thin lips, his smile revealed nothing but coldness.
Controlled by others, with concerns on many fronts.
Shen Zhuo lowered his brows. The pheromones he had intended to use were forcibly suppressed after Jie Zhen’s remark.
Fu Qi Shang and Ai Li looked apologetic.
Seeing Du Xun lying on the ground with a blood-soaked chest, their eyes widened in unison, but the drug prevented them from speaking.
“Shen Zhuo, catching you really took a lot of trouble.”
The Queen’s red lips curved slightly:
“How is it? The feeling of betting everything only to lose it all… does it hurt?”
Shen Zhuo clenched his jaw tight, his eyes severely bloodshot.
“Feng Ming… that was your doing too.”
The Queen’s smile deepened: “Him? He was just a pawn I finished using long ago. I don’t care if he lives or dies.”
“You really are heartless… to your own children,” Shen Zhuo said, enunciating every word, his pitch-black pupils sharp and deep.
“Just some useless waste, why waste feelings on them?”
She suddenly remembered something and pointed at Du Xun.
“He had some use, but he wouldn’t listen to me, so he had to die.”
Life and death in her mouth seemed as simple as discussing what to eat for dinner or whether to buy something.
The essence of that glamorous and aggressive beauty was a bloodthirsty demon soaked in power and ambition.
“The stakes I traded with you back then were too small. If I didn’t catch everyone you care about in one net, how could you possibly agree to my deal?”
The Queen gathered her long hair and looked at Chu Bai Xian:
“You did very well. I am relieved to hand over the position of Commander-in-Chief of the Military to you.”
Chu Bai Xian lowered his head and did not speak.
Shen Zhuo, however, sensed the implication.
“What did you do to my fathers!!”
Shen Xu Yin and Jiang Yue Ning were both on the battlefield, far beyond his reach.
He had never told them about the Queen and the Zerg.
Once the Queen used his life as a threat, Shen Xu Yin and Jiang Yue Ning would definitely compromise…
The Queen raised an eyebrow: “Instead of caring about others, you should care about yourself.”
“Tomorrow is the ceremony. Are you ready?”
In Shen Zhuo’s pupils, the Queen’s smile grew increasingly grotesque.
“To become the Emperor of humanity, and the Mother of the Zerg… that is a supreme honor.”
Shen Zhuo’s face was cold.
But from the Queen’s wording, he detected a piece of information.
Becoming the Insect Mother required him to be willing.
Otherwise, the Queen could have just kept him in that cage from the beginning and forced him to accept it; his body was so weak back then.
If she used chains and drugs, he wouldn’t have had a chance to escape.
There would have been no need for such a massive operation.
A glint flashed in Shen Zhuo’s eyes as he thought rapidly.
But the Queen obviously caught this little thought of his.
“Five seconds.” She signaled Feng Mu Ya, who aimed her gun at Fu Qi Shang. “If you don’t agree, I kill one.”
“You have fifteen seconds to consider, child.”
“Don’t waste my patience.”
Feng Mu Ya took out that small pistol, stood by the Queen’s side, and clicked off the safety.
Fu Qi Shang, however, showed no fear. He just looked at Shen Zhuo and shook his head desperately.
Don’t agree, absolutely don’t!
He didn’t know what becoming the Insect Mother meant, but he knew it definitely wasn’t anything good.
It was very likely to threaten the future of humanity.
That was no longer just about personal honor.
It was a race; it was all of them.
He could die.
Humanity could not.
Shen Zhuo met Fu Qi Shang’s gaze and slowly closed his eyes.
The Queen calmly counted down:
“Five, four, three, two…”
She was somewhat surprised. She was about to count to one, and Shen Zhuo still hadn’t reacted.
“Qi Shang, it seems he doesn’t care about you.”
The Queen tilted her head, signaling Feng Mu Ya:
“Shoot.”
But in the next second, the Queen’s composed smile froze on her face.
That exquisite lady’s pistol was pressed against the back of her head.
“Feng Mu Ya, what are you doing?”
The Queen’s shocked expression lasted only for an instant before recovering. She shouted: “Guards!”
Immediately, palace guards with tattoos on their necks rushed in from entrances on all sides, surrounding everyone in an instant.
Everyone held guns, vigilantly pointing them at everyone except the Queen.
“Ya, this is not the time for jokes,” the Queen said with a cold, heavy face. “You won’t listen to Mother’s orders anymore?”
Feng Mu Ya, however, completely changed her expression.
That air of arrogance and dominance faded entirely.
What remained was only calmness.
In a trance, she bore a resemblance to Du Xun.
Feng Mu Ya took out a syringe from her bosom and injected it into the side of her neck.
She closed her eyes briefly and opened them again.
The color of her eyes had changed.
From the brownish-tan identical to Feng Ming’s.
They turned into the gray-blue she was born with.
“What kind of mother are you?”
Feng Mu Ya’s voice, usually high-pitched and shrill, returned to normal at this moment—a very clear and pleasant tone.
“Handing me over to Feng Ming’s mother, letting her teach me every day that I can have whatever I want, turning me into a lawless princess.”
“You wanted to ruin me. What kind of mother are you?”
Feng Mu Ya’s eyes were slightly red, but her voice was very calm:
“Did you think I didn’t know Du Xun is my biological brother?”
“Or rather, did you think I never knew that my mother was actually Queen Minya?”
Shen Zhuo took a breath.
So the catalyst for Du Xun finding the Insect Mother in this life was discovering that Feng Mu Ya was his biological sister.
“When did you find out?” the Queen asked. “Good acting. Even I didn’t notice.”
Feng Mu Ya closed her eyes, took a deep breath, and slowly exhaled:
“From the very beginning.”
Although Feng Mu Ya had revealed her hand, the Queen remained calm, looking at Chu Bai Xian.
“Kill those who aren’t useful.”
Whether son or daughter, they could all become her discarded pawns.
An ambitious man-eating flower cared nothing for anyone’s life or death.
Chu Bai Xian obediently reloaded with one hand and clicked the safety.
In the next second, he raised his hand, and the person the gun pointed at…
Was also the Queen.
“Even you…” The Queen sneered repeatedly. “Aren’t you afraid your Omega—”
“He isn’t afraid.” Chu Bai Xian interrupted the Queen. “My Omega is a hundred times stronger than you imagine.”
“Of course, so am I.”
The Queen’s breathing quickened, her eyes dark and ruthless.
Untrustworthy… indeed, none of them were trustworthy!
“Military! Guards! Treason deserves death! Kill them all! Leave no one alive except Shen Zhuo!!”
Chu Bai Xian, however, turned his head and waved to the military personnel behind him. Everyone took a step back and lowered their guns.
The man’s voice rang out, laced with sarcasm: “The military is not your place to give orders, Your Majesty.”
“Do you think anyone still listens to you?” The girl beside her suddenly spoke, her face revealing a touch of pity.
“Everyone, return to the first floor and control those insect soldiers.”
As the girl’s indifferent voice sounded, none of the palace guards hesitated:
“Yes! Princess!”
This time, the Queen’s expression couldn’t hold up.
The smile that was always calm and unhurried shattered like crushed glass.
On that face, it looked hideous.
“When?!”
Feng Mu Ya pressed the gun against the back of her head: “While you were letting me cause trouble everywhere, while you were letting me become even more unreasonable.”
“While you were blind to me.”
The corners of the girl’s mouth slowly curved into a smile.
It was strikingly similar to Du Xun’s.
“There are too many things you don’t know, Mother.”
Her hand pressed toward the back of her neck.
She pulled a thin, long device hidden by her hair out of her gland.
Instantly, the scent of Red Roses filled the entire room.
Such familiar high-level pheromone fluctuations surprised even Shen Zhuo.
It was an S5.
Feng Mu Ya was actually an S5 Omega.
Hiding her light and biding her time, pretending to be spoiled for so many years.
Just for today.
To overthrow her own kingdom.
The Queen’s expression changed several times, becoming increasingly hideous and ugly.
She shouted at Jie Zhen to kill the hostages.
But even Jie Zhen didn’t move.
Of everyone present, only the Queen was in a frenzy.
“Don’t you understand yet?”
A familiar voice rang out.
Shen Zhuo sensed movement beside him; his heart rate sped up as he looked over.
Du Xun stood up from the ground, methodically dusting off the bulletproof vest underneath his shirt.
He turned his head, smiled, and extended his hand to Shen Zhuo.
Tentatively, the boy grasped the Alpha’s palm.
It was warm.
Du Xun cast a “be at ease” look at him, then looked at the terrified and panicked Queen.
Everything had flipped; the poles had reversed.
From a dead end to taking the lead.
All gun muzzles were aimed at the Queen.
Even Jie Zhen stood by watching, releasing the restraints on the three hostages, his bewitching face behind the lenses unusually bland.
Du Xun looked down from above, his gray-blue eyes cold and ruthless:
“You lose.”
