Part 2
Saying so, he led Lu Yuanbai to the master bedroom, found clean sheets and duvet covers for both of them, and specially laid out two quilts, one on each side, so they wouldn’t interfere with each other.
“Senior will have to suffer a bit tonight.”
Lu Yuanbai came from a wealthy background but had no airs. Hearing this, he just smiled gently. “What suffering? The conditions when I was a volunteer teacher were much harder than this. This is quite good.”
His gaze swept over the room, carrying a tolerant calmness.
“That’s good. Senior, rest early.”
Walking out of the room, Jiang Yunian ingratiatingly squeezed Jiang Yan’s hand hanging by his side, blinking to ask him to endure it and not make things difficult for him. Jiang Yan huffed a cold breath through his nose, brushed past him, and backhandedly slammed the door shut with a bang.
In the master bedroom, the old-fashioned light bulb emitted a dim yellow light, washing over the mottled white walls.
Jiang Yan and Lu Yuanbai each occupied one side of the bed, staring at each other. After a few seconds, they tacitly turned over, back to back, with zero communication throughout.
At first, Lu Yuanbai tried to say something to ease the atmosphere, but the other party clearly had no intention of accepting him. He was indeed tired, so he simply stopped talking, closed his eyes, and slowly fell asleep.
As he said, his sleeping posture was excellentâproper and well-behaved, no snoring, no blanket stealing, not even moving an inch. He slept very deeply.
In the darkness, Jiang Yan slowly opened his eyes, a cold gloom in their depths. He sat up, swept a look of disgust at the person beside him, suppressed the urge to kick him off, lifted the quilt, and left.
He skillfully found the door handle of the secondary bedroom. It wasn’t locked this time; a gentle twist opened it. He slipped inside. By the faint light coming through the window, he accurately found the bedside and burrowed in, carrying the chill of the night with him, scooping the soundly sleeping person entirely into his arms, his hoop around the waist extremely tight.
Jiang Yunian wasn’t sleeping peacefully. He felt like he was being bound by a very thick rope, strangling him. In a daze, he touched something hardâclearly a chest muscle that only a person would have. He woke with a start, thinking a thief had entered, and immediately began to struggle.
“You… Mmph!”
A palm with thin calluses covered his mouth in time. The palm was warm and dry, pressed tightly against his lips.
“Ge, it’s me.”
Jiang Yunian froze. Jiang Yan? He hammered him in annoyance. “Scaring people like that! I thought he came again…”
“Again?” Jiang Yan paused, grabbed his soft hand, and pressed it against his chest. His movements weren’t as tense as his words: “Did he bully you?”
Held tightly in his arms, the grievance and lingering fear Jiang Yunian had suppressed surged up again, mixed with a trace of indescribable shame.
“Mn.”
“Why didn’t you tell me? Where did he bully you?”
“…” Jiang Yunian pursed his lips, which had been wiped repeatedly, and mumbled something in his ear, his voice so low it was almost inaudible.
In the dim night, Jiang Yan’s eyes were bright as snow. He extended a finger to slowly pry open his sealed lips. “You mean he kissed here?”
“…”
“How did he kiss? Did he use his tongue?”
“Stop talking…” Jiang Yunian squeezed his eyes shut in shame. As his lips moved, he unconsciously bit that finger, his ears burning hot.
Jiang Yan suppressed the corner of his mouth that was hooking up. “I haven’t even openly and honestly…”
He swallowed the rest of the sentence, the trailing tone full of disappointment.
Jiang Yunian buried his head lower, trying to hide the heat on his face.
“Ge, don’t be afraid.” Jiang Yan tightened his arm around him, encircling him more densely, comforting him, “I’m already investigating. We’ll drag him out soon, don’t worry.”
Jiang Yunian nodded gently, muffled in his embrace. With him by his side, his nerves relaxed slightly.
Jiang Yan lowered his eyes. Through the dim light, he watched the person in his arms quietly snuggling against him. There was a thin flush on the fair face, carrying a fragility and dependence from the shock. He didn’t know if he forgot to push him away because of fear or something else… Jiang Yan’s dry throat rolled. His gaze uncontrollably traced those soft lips. An inexplicable heat surged up, and he couldn’t help but pester him, asking what it felt like.
Drowsiness hit Jiang Yunian again. He muddledly let out a “Hmm?” without processing it.
“Being kissed by a man…” Jiang Yan’s gaze remained glued to those lips, almost morbid. “What did it feel like?”
After hearing it clearly, Jiang Yunian’s chaotic brain sobered up a bit. His small face wrinkled slightly, carrying obvious resistance and embarrassment. He didn’t want to recall it, let alone answer, especially thinking of his body’s uncontrollable reaction at the time. He only hated himself for being disappointing.
“What feeling can there be with a man?” He turned his face away. “Disgusting.”
Dis… gusting?
Jiang Yan’s eyes darkened. The romantic atmosphere quietly faded. The arm around Jiang Yunian’s waist tightened instantly, his voice urgent: “Then what if it was me…”
“Hss… hurts…”
Jiang Yunian couldn’t help but gasp, pushing against his chest with both hands. The moment the other let go, he took the opportunity to break free from the embrace, hugging the quilt and moving away.
Looking face to face, Jiang Yunian remembered an oversight. “Weren’t you sleeping with Senior?”
Hearing this name made Jiang Yan unhappy. “Ge knows I don’t like outsiders, yet you forced him on me.”
Then, disregarding everything, he pulled the person back and started filing a black complaint (snitching/lying). “He’s not honest when sleeping. He likes to kick people. Not only did he kick me off the bed, but he also stole the quilt…”
“How could that be?” Jiang Yunian didn’t quite believe it. “Senior clearly said his sleeping posture is very good. Is it that you… Ah!”
The soft flesh on his side was suddenly pinched hard. It was itchy and numb, exciting him like a stranded fish, twisting his body to dodge.
“You haven’t slept with him, how would you know?”
“…”
Jiang Yan pinned his waist in front of him, allowing no resistance. “Don’t let me see you bring another man home again.”
Unknown from when it started, Jiang Yunian felt his title of “Older Brother” existed in name only. Clearly, he was called ‘Ge’, but he was controlled by Jiang Yan everywhere. He felt his status as head of the household was in imminent danger. A rebellious psychology popped up, and his little mouth blabbered on, emphasizing that Senior was just a Senior; he had helped him a lot, so what was wrong with bringing him home for a night? It was his home; he could bring whoever he wanted!
“Ah! Don’t… Ah Yan! Stop! Hah… Itchy!”
As expected, Jiang Yan relied on his great strength to pin him directly onto the bed. His hands found the ticklish flesh at his waist and scratched without mercy. Jiang Yunian instantly lost his momentum, laughing until tears almost came out, twisting into a ball on the bed with no power to resist.
“In my bed,” Jiang Yan suddenly stopped his hand, leaning down until their nose tips touched. One hand still pressed on his side, but the other slid downwards full of threat, “You aren’t allowed to mention other men’s names.”
He paused deliberately, emphasizing his tone, “Senior isn’t allowed either.”
The flush on Jiang Yunian’s face hadn’t faded. He hurriedly grabbed Jiang Yan’s mischievous hand, nodding repeatedly saying he wouldn’t mention it, completely behaving himself.
Jiang Yan’s expression softened. He withdrew his hand, intending to hug the person for a good sleep, when the door was knocked on unhurriedly from the outside.
“Yunian, Little Brother seems to be missing,” Lu Yuanbai’s calm voice came through the door panel. “Did something happen?”
Jiang Yan pressed his eyebrows down, his look sinister.
This man clearly knew he was here and was deliberately disrupting the situation. Everyone was a thousand-year-old fox; what kind of good heart was he pretending to have?
Jiang Yunian wasn’t a fox, nor of the same species. Hearing the voice, he quickly responded, then struggled out from under the devil’s claws, kicked him off the bed, and pushed and shoved him toward the door.
Pushing while coaxing, asking him to endure a bit longer, guaranteeing that Senior definitely wouldn’t kick him again this time. Jiang Yan was pushed to the door but stood there immobile, a face full of unwillingness. His brother had glossed over the kiss last time; this time he had to collect some interest no matter what. He pointed to his cheek, the hint obvious.
The person at the door was still waiting, while the person inside wasn’t anxious at all. Jiang Yunian looked at Jiang Yan’s rascally “I won’t leave unless you kiss me” appearance and felt helpless. Brainwashing himself that it was just a kissâit wasn’t like they hadn’t kissed beforeâhe decided to end the battle quickly. He stood on tiptoes and quickly printed a shallow kiss on his cheek.
Jiang Yan didn’t even taste the flavor, but the door had already been pulled open by him. He could only be pushed out unwillingly.
Turning around, he met Lu Yuanbai’s still calm expression, as if he had insight into everything.
He sneered coldly, brushed past him, and walked straight back to the master bedroom.
