How Did the Promised Yandere Villain Become a Clingy, Obedient Dog? Chapter 9

Chapter 9: It Hurts A Lot

Why doesn’t this dumbass wake up any other time but has to wake up now!

Look, look, look! What are you looking at! Look again and I’ll gouge your eyes out!

Cheng Ge put the fried rice on the table, walked slowly over to Wen Ling, and gently rubbed his head. “Still sleepy?”

Wen Ling actually hugged his waist just like that and nodded slightly.

Why the fuck don’t you die/get lost? Are we close!?

Cheng Ge quietly leaned his body back and pinched Wen Ling’s earlobe. “Do you want to sleep a bit more? Or eat some rice first?”

If you dare snatch my rice, you’re finished!

Wen Ling rubbed his head against Cheng Ge’s cotton shirt. “Can’t sleep anymore.”

…Fine, that means he wants to eat.

Cheng Ge didn’t expect Wen Ling to wake up suddenly, nor did he expect the little lunatic would want to eat, so he had only made enough for one person.

But a man under the eaves has to bow his head. Cheng Ge returned to the kitchen, took a small bowl, and with great reluctance in his heart, scooped a bowl of rice from his plate for Wen Ling.

“Eat,” Cheng Ge’s voice was very gentle. “Don’t eat too fast, or you’ll get indigestion.”

Damn it, hope you choke/eat yourself to death!

Wen Ling looked at the bowl of rice, then at Cheng Ge, and said “Okay.”

[Conquest Value 16.5%]

Cheng Ge was stunned. He glanced at Wen Ling. The little lunatic was lowering his head, eating quietly.

It’s just a small bowl of rice; why did the little lunatic’s conquest value go up?

Although he didn’t get Wen Ling’s point, Cheng Ge felt he could still seize this opportunity.

Selling culinary skills was better than selling his body.

Cheng Ge finished his own rice first to prevent the little lunatic from snatching it, then waited for Wen Ling to finish before asking him, “Was it tasty?”

Wen Ling really had no concept of good or bad; no one had ever told him. So Wen Ling felt Cheng Ge was annoying sometimes, always asking questions he couldn’t answer well.

But thinking that Cheng Ge these past few days made him very happy, he answered Cheng Ge: “I like it.”

“Then shall I make it for you in the future too, okay?” Cheng Ge asked.

Wen Ling thought that was acceptable, so he said okay. But then recalling the matter from a few days ago where Cheng Ge wanted to go out to buy groceries and then run away, he immediately became alert again. “You said you would stay with me forever.”

Cheng Ge found it strange. The little lunatic was clearly fine just a moment ago; how did his face suddenly become so paranoid and gloomy?

He was really afraid Wen Ling would suddenly pull out a sharp knife or some potion from some unknown place again. He hurriedly pulled the person, chair and all, closer, his voice urgent and aggrieved. “Why are you looking at me like that again?”

“Why do you suspect me again?”

“I already said I would stay with you forever; why do you always doubt me?”

Wen Ling looked at Cheng Ge’s suddenly dimmed eyes. He was ninety percent suspicious, but simultaneously, inexplicably, felt ten percent at a loss.

“You…”

“You’ve never trusted me at all!” Cheng Ge interrupted Wen Ling. The little fool wouldn’t understand the principle of striking first. “You locked me up, imprisoned me, and cut me with a knife. My leg still hurts. I didn’t hold any of this against you, and now I want to cook for you, yet you still suspect me?”

Wen Ling’s gaze moved from Cheng Ge’s face to his leg. He reached out and touched Cheng Ge’s injured leg, remaining silent for a long time.

Motherfucker, scared Cheng Ge to death. He thought he had overacted and annoyed Wen Ling, leading to a secondary injury on his leg.

“Does it hurt a lot?” Wen Ling looked up and stared at Cheng Ge. Cheng Ge felt a chill down his spine, afraid Wen Ling meant something else or would suddenly go crazy.

But his leg really hurt, and after being tormented by him for so long, he hadn’t lied. What was he afraid of!?

“It hurts a lot. These past two days it almost split open again.” That tone was incredibly righteous and confident; any normal person could hear the grievance mixed within it.

Unfortunately, Wen Ling was probably abnormal. He lowered his eyelashes, thinking about something unknown, and finally gave him an “Mm.”

Mm? Just mm?

Fuck, what does that mean? Won’t you give a promise saying you won’t do it next time!?

Angry as he was, Cheng Ge took advantage of the atmosphere and mentioned: “The electric shock hurt a lot too.”

Wen Ling looked into Cheng Ge’s eyes and gave another “Mm.”

Damn it! Is the little lunatic an ‘Mm’ monster!? Annoying as hell.

[Conquest Value 17.5%]

Cheng Ge: “???”

What is it now? Why is the conquest value so inexplicable today?

But since the conquest value went up, it meant Wen Ling’s mood was currently okay.

Cheng Ge thought of a compromise proposal: “You can ask someone to deliver groceries here, and then I’ll cook. This way I don’t need to go out to buy groceries.” Cheng Ge paused, his tone carrying a bit of feigned anger: “You can be at ease now, right?”

Wen Ling didn’t feel he was being difficult at all and nodded.

The matter was turned over just like that.

When Wen Ling was normal, he was quite efficient. In the evening, someone delivered a large pile of groceries. After simply sorting them, Cheng Ge put them all into the refrigerator.

Since they had eaten “breakfast” not long ago, for dinner, he only made a plate of stir-fried beans with meat to go with rice.

While eating, Cheng Ge noticed Wen Ling’s appetite didn’t seem good. Although he usually didn’t eat much and ate at a tortoise speed, this time he ate too little and too slowly—probably only four mouthfuls.

Also, Wen Ling’s cheeks and nose tip were red. His skin was pale, so even a little bit of color was clearly visible.

However, although Cheng Ge wanted to raise the conquest value quickly, he hadn’t reached the point of licking his boots. He didn’t want to bother with such subtle things. After hesitating, he didn’t ask about Wen Ling’s condition.

It wasn’t until late at night, when Wen Ling went to the bathroom to shower and hadn’t come out after more than half an hour, that Cheng Ge felt something was wrong.

Cheng Ge knocked on the bathroom door. No one answered. He called Wen Ling’s name again, but there was still no reaction from inside—complete silence.

The little lunatic might be deaf, but not that deaf, right?

Cheng Ge had no choice. With a bad premonition, he tried twisting the door handle, and unexpectedly, the door opened immediately.

“Wen Ling?” Cheng Ge called out. Still silence. After hesitating for a moment, he pushed the door open and went in.

The bathroom was filled with steam. There was a sliding red partition in the middle; outside was the shower area and sink, and inside were the bathtub and toilet.

Not even the sound of water. Paired with that red partition, it looked even more eerie.

However, Cheng Ge wasn’t timid. Showing weakness in front of Wen Ling was half because Wen Ling was a psycho and he dared not act rashly, and half because he was pretending.

The partition was open about ten centimeters. Cheng Ge peeked inside and saw Wen Ling lying in the white bathtub, head tilted back. His whole body was red as if boiled, motionless.

No different from being dead.

When this thought popped up, Cheng Ge almost planned to examine the corpse.

Cheng Ge checked Wen Ling’s breathing. It was still there, just scary hot.

Forehead, cheek temperature was also very hot.

Fever? Burned until he passed out?

Then it’s fine.

Cheng Ge prepared to ignore it, let him suffer a bit—fitting revenge for the past few days.

Besides, Cheng Ge analyzed, Wen Ling having a fever was his own business. Cheng Ge had no obligation to care; it wasn’t like he caused it.

But the moment this logic was smoothed out in his mind, another possibility suddenly surfaced in his brain.

No way? Not really?
