Chapter 40: Kick Again Next Time: Why So Pink?
Standing at the ward door, Zhou Lin found this scene extremely piercing to the eyes.
Both were injured, yet Tang Xingye only came to see Lin Mo, even nesting in his bed. Throughout the whole time, he didn’t even give a word of greeting, only exchanging a “deserved it.”
Zhou Lin couldn’t articulate the irritation in his heart. Walking into the ward and approaching Tang Xingye, he was met with a pillow thrown at his face. “Get out.”
Zhou Lin caught the pillow. Seeing Tang Xingye now covered in mint pheromones, he pulled the corner of his mouth, his tone still gentle. “I’m not here to see you.”
He had intended to question Lin Mo, not expecting to bump into Tang Xingye and Lin Mo sticking together.
Very good. He hadn’t noticed that the usually indifferent Lin Mo had such thoughts about Tang Xingye.
Zhou Lin looked at the faint pleasure appearing on Lin Mo’s brow and eyes, finding it increasingly unpleasant to look at. His tone was gentle, but unpleasant no matter how one heard it. “Injured so heavily, yet the pheromones are…”
Lin Mo looked up, watching him still holding the pillow, eyes cold. “You look like you’re in good spirits too.”
Zhou Lin looked at Lin Mo with a deep gaze, then suddenly laughed. “Yes, thanks to someone, I should have recovered faster.”
Lin Mo knew what he was talking about and knew he was in a bad mood.
Lin Mo raised his eyelids, gaze sweeping over the veins on the arm holding the pillow. “That shows the injury was still too light.”
Tang Xingye looked at Zhou Lin, then at Lin Mo. What riddles were they speaking in?
He touched his mouth; it was swollen and painful, with even tiny breaks in the skin. Why does it hurt again? Forget it, cursing Zhou Lin, this bastard, is always correct.
He stole a glance at Zhou Lin, moved his mouth soundlessly, and cursed Zhou Lin a few times in a whisper.
Zhou Lin’s heart moved slightly. Tang Xingye thought his small movements of cursing vaguely were very subtle, but they didn’t escape his eyes.
He had seen the grievance of Tang Xingye as a gloomy little mushroom, seen the anger of self-righteousness turning into exasperation, and seen the erotic and decadent arousal. But it was the first time seeing such a vivid expression.
Very cute, but Tang Xingye was probably secretly cursing him again.
Quite fun.
“I’m leaving first.”
Tang Xingye didn’t want to listen to them quarrel; he wanted to go back to school. Tang Xingye jumped off the hospital bed, grabbed his jacket, and was about to leave.
Zhou Lin blocked the door. “I’ll drive you.”
Tang Xingye wanted to refuse—how could he sit in the same car as Zhou Lin? Looking at the pouring rain, the sky was so gloomy it seemed about to crush down. Taxi fares were expensive, surge pricing on rainy days was even more outrageous, and the bus was crowded and slow.
Lin Mo watched Tang Xingye following Zhou Lin and spoke coldly, “I’ll drive him.”
Zhou Lin paused, looked back at Lin Mo, and hooked his lips in a mocking arc. “You?”
Zhou Lin’s gaze swept over Lin Mo’s patient gown, implying, “Someone who can’t even get out of bed, how to drive?”
Lin Mo’s expression remained unchanged. He raised his hand to press the bedside call bell. Tang Xingye stopped his movement with one sentence: “Haven’t been discharged yet; rest well.”
Zhou Lin hooked a smile.
Lin Mo watched silently as Tang Xingye left with Zhou Lin. His expression was faint, but his clenched knuckles revealed the owner’s mood.
When getting into the car, Tang Xingye ignored Zhou Lin opening the passenger door for him and sat directly in the back, treating Zhou Lin as a driver.
Seeing Zhou Lin look at him through the rearview mirror, Tang Xingye rolled his eyes. “Speak if you have something to say; don’t keep staring at me.”
He was most annoyed by people who had something to say but didn’t, just staring at him waiting for him to guess. Of course, he didn’t expect Zhou Lin to say anything nice.
Zhou Lin said softly, “Oh, then going to a hotel?”
Tang Xingye glared angrily: “Are you sick!”
Going to a hotel in broad daylight… apart from that stuff, can his brain hold anything else?!
Zhou Lin glanced at the overreacting Tang Xingye and said meaningfully, “You haven’t eaten yet. Not going to eat something? Or if you want to eat something else, that’s fine too.”
Tang Xingye made a stop gesture: “Stop. That matter is considered over; don’t come to disgust me.”
Zhou Lin smiled, his tone remaining gentle. “Do you know, Little Green Leaf? People who spread rumors online that others are impotent are usually bottoms outside. If your matters were posted online…”
Tang Xingye: “Alright, stop talking. I shouldn’t have talked nonsense anonymously online. That was so long ago; what else do you want?”
Zhou Lin was truly a detestable capitalist.
He had already received retribution, yet Zhou Lin still wanted to claim it back with interest.
“Accompany me to a banquet.”
“No.”
“Then I’ll continue talking about the eating matter.”
Tang Xingye sighed. “When is the banquet?”
“In a week.”
Tang Xingye suspected his brain was damaged from the beating. Unexpectedly, Zhou Lin didn’t say anything nasty but handed over a towel. “Wipe yourself.”
There was some distance from the hospital to the garage, and both of them got a bit wet. The clothes Tang Xingye wore were washed somewhat white; after getting wet, they became a bit transparent, faintly revealing beautiful lines and even light colors.
How can it be so pink.
Zhou Lin felt it was a bit scorching to the eyes, so he gave the only remaining new towel in the car to Tang Xingye.
Tang Xingye was stunned. He took it and wrapped his head. “Don’t always speak ambiguously. Can we clarify things once and for all?”
Zhou Lin looked at the small cat face revealed by Tang Xingye. inexplicably seeing cat ears formed by the towel, his Adam’s apple moved slightly. “I said it; I want to date you.”
???? Mental illness! Who wants to date you!
Tang Xingye’s eyes widened. He leaned forward, lying on the back of the seat, and said viciously, “Don’t even think about it. Don’t even think about it in this lifetime.”
Zhou Lin gave an “Oh” and said, “I remember the money tree at my house was watered to death. It was quite expensive, about this amount.” Saying that, he made a gesture.
Tang Xingye didn’t believe it. He just poured a little hot water; how did it die? And what broken tree is that expensive?!
As a result, Zhou Lin showed him a video. After being watered with hot water, the tree wilted and was no different from dead. He also showed him the transaction record from the auction.
Tang Xingye suspiciously checked three times, confirming it was real and not photoshopped. He slowly sat back, his expression calm, but his soul had already left for a while.
How can a person cause such a big disaster? How can a person be so unlucky?
They say a person cannot step into the same river twice, yet he fell for this refined scum Zhou Lin twice.
Zhou Lin looked at Tang Xingye leisurely, waiting for his sophistry. Unexpectedly, the other shifted his gaze out the window.
He spoke slowly: “Fasten your seatbelt.”
Tang Xingye glared at him, realizing that peaceful negotiation with Zhou Lin was unlikely. His brain was already thinking about what color sack to use tonight, where to ambush Zhou Lin, and send him back to the hospital.
Tang Xingye watched the surrounding trees retreat rapidly as the car sped along. He suddenly suspected Zhou Lin wouldn’t sell him off, right? Although a Beta wasn’t much to sell, not worth much money. A salary of five thousand with weekends off and full benefits could already trick many Beta college students.
“Where to?”
“Back to school.”
L: [Where are you? You’re not back in the dorm again.]
L: [You wouldn’t have gone out to play with other men behind my back, right?]
Tang Xingye looked through the messages and found Lu Zhi had messaged him yesterday. Lu Zhi sent too many messages; sometimes he saw them and thought he’d reply later, then forgot, thinking he had replied when he actually hadn’t.
He replied: [I was in class. Don’t send messages to disturb me.]
L: [Sorry.]
Just after class, Lu Zhi leaned over. “Why didn’t you reply to my messages last night?”
“Those wild men, can they satisfy you?”
Zhou Lin and Lin Mo weren’t in the dorm, and there was a Pei Lian whose whereabouts were unknown. Once Tang Xingye disappeared, he suspected they had abducted Tang Xingye. Maybe Tang Xingye was just in the lab, but Lu Zhi was like an incompetent husband always suspecting his beautiful wife of cheating.
He leaned close to Tang Xingye, sniffing the pheromones on him. There were actually scents of smoke and mint. He couldn’t help gritting his teeth, his tone sarcastic. “You went to see those two patients again? Can they do it? Won’t their wounds tear?”
Tang Xingye didn’t understand what filth Lu Zhi was talking about and slapped his head. “Don’t act crazy.”
Familiar slap, familiar tone.
Lu Zhi felt he might be born a bit cheap. Tang Xingye didn’t come back to scold him all night, and he felt something was wrong. Now it felt right.
But his taste had been spoiled. Trying to dismiss him with a mere slap? He wasn’t such a cheap man.
“They are all patients; they don’t have my stamina.”
Lu Zhi grabbed Tang Xingye’s wrist, Adam’s apple rolling, staring at Tang Xingye’s lips. “Go out and play with me.”
Tang Xingye was blank for a moment, then reacted, face cold. “You think I went to play with them? You forgot what we agreed on.”
Lu Zhi received the cold face and felt extremely comfortable. He didn’t want to push Tang Xingye too hard lest he make him angry, so he immediately said softly, “I remember. Waiting until you’re done is fine too. When you’re tired of studying, we go out again, okay?”
Tang Xingye responded to coaxing but not coercion. Lu Zhi had asked him out several times, asking about various interesting exhibitions.
“That works too.”
Lu Zhi got this sentence, and his mood instantly became beautiful. Sure enough, an Alpha must be magnanimous; don’t ask about Wifey’s affairs, don’t ask too much.
Tang Xingye didn’t want to look at Lu Zhi anymore, so he went to find Ji Chen for training.
Fighting with Ji Chen inevitably meant getting some injuries. This time Ji Chen seemed exceptionally excited, his attacks more ruthless than before. Forced into a corner, Tang Xingye subconsciously grabbed the equipment next to him to counterattack. Ji Chen dodged the attack, but a bloody scratch appeared on his forehead, seeping blood beads.
Tang Xingye let go of the equipment, insincerely: “Sorry.”
He knew Ji Chen’s eccentricity—addicted to fighting yet surprisingly caring about his own injuries, treating the slightest wound with caution.
However, unexpectedly, the person involved didn’t care much, waving his hand. “It’s fine.” It was just that his expression still carried undissipated excitement, seeming unsatisfied.
Ji Chen rubbed his neck and suddenly asked, “Did you bring suppressants?”
Tang Xingye raised an eyebrow: “Your susceptible period?”
Ji Chen: “Yeah, coming soon.”
Tang Xingye’s nose twitched slightly. The smell of cedar he smelled wasn’t strong. Ji Chen’s ability to control pheromones was indeed admirable; it actually didn’t spill out.
He suddenly found it a bit funny. “You’re asking me, a Beta, for suppressants?”
“I thought you would keep some spares,” Ji Chen glanced at the Beta’s clear, beautiful face. Now, after exercise, Tang Xingye’s cold white face was flushed, breathing slightly hurried, eyes red-rimmed. Those usually indifferent eyes now floated with rippling water light, showing a bit of eroticism.
He paused and continued, “After all, you always encounter trouble. In case you encounter an Alpha in susceptible period, always good to have a backup.”
Tang Xingye didn’t take this conversation topic, but stared silently at the wound on Ji Chen’s forehead, blood beads still seeping out. “Aren’t you going to treat the wound now?”
Ji Chen gave a nonchalant “Oh”: “That punch you gave me on the chest actually hurt quite a bit. I’ll go to the infirmary to find some medicine later. By the way, are you injured?”
Tang Xingye: “I’m fine.”
Ji Chen moved his shoulders, eyes shining. “Then I’m leaving first, going to find a few restless Alphas.”
Tang Xingye looked at the bloody scratch on his forehead, his brow frowning unconsciously.
The air in the meeting room solidified.
Tang Xingye’s fingertips tapped the table boredly. He only came to convey the teacher’s notice, but got involved in a confrontation between two upperclassmen Alphas.
“Equipment loss is of course your Logistics Department’s dereliction of duty! We counted clearly during handover!”
“Bullshit! Surveillance shows the last ones to use the equipment were your people!”
“Ahem.” A Beta tried to mediate. “Seniors, should we first…”
Before he could finish, he was pulled back by a companion who whispered, “Don’t meddle.”
“Beta, shut up.” The red-haired Alpha didn’t even look at him, snorting coldly: “This is a problem between Alphas.”
Tang Xingye scratched the table for a while.
He wasn’t part of this club and didn’t want to stick his neck out. Advise them and get held a grudge by two Alphas—really not worth it.
The two Alphas had comparable family backgrounds; neither liked the other. As they argued, tempers rose. The small space filled with strong alcohol-scented pheromones and turpentine-scented pheromones clashing against each other.
The concentration of Alpha pheromones was high enough to cause visible distortion. The burning sensation of strong liquor intertwined with the suffocating feeling of turpentine.
Omegas curled up in the corner, faces pale, fingers digging into the inhibitor patches on the back of their necks. Betas couldn’t smell pheromones but were equally uncomfortable under the pressure of spiritual power.
The rhythm of Tang Xingye’s fingertips scratching the table got faster, almost digging into his palm.
Finally, at a certain critical point—
Bang!!!
He slammed his palm on the table violently.
The loud noise made everyone tremble.
Before the red-haired Alpha could react, his collar was grabbed, and his whole body was dragged toward the door.
“You f*cking—!”
Tang Xingye raised his foot and kicked. The red-haired Alpha flew out directly, knocking over the trash can in the corridor.
The black-haired Alpha was just about to speak when Tang Xingye backhanded him across the face with a file folder—Smack—grabbed his collar, and dragged him out the door. “You get out too.”
Dead silence in the meeting room. Omegas and Betas widened their eyes, staring at him blankly.
Tang Xingye was used to fearful gazes and turned to leave.
After Tang Xingye left, the Omegas and Betas in the meeting room were still immersed in the shock just now.
“Did he just… frown?” An Omega asked in a whisper, fingers unconsciously rubbing the back of their own neck.
“When he kicked people, the way his waistline tightened… so hot.” Another Omega rested their chin on their hand, eyes glazed.
“Do you think he’s this fierce during his susceptible period? Or…” Someone lowered their voice, “Does he become super clingy, rubbing against the neck asking for hugs?”
Several Omegas huddled together, blushing and heart racing, minds full of fantasies of Tang Xingye beating people with a cold face, yet possibly revealing a fragile side at some moment.
Meanwhile, Tang Xingye walked to the corner, hissed, and shook his reddened palm.
“Next time, better use my foot to kick…”
Hearing footsteps behind him, Tang Xingye instantly put his hands behind his back, straightened his back, and his face returned to calm.
