Chapter 43: Meeting
Shen Yanjin bought a ticket from Dongshan Airlines.
Usually, flights from this airline were delayed—delayed takeoffs, delayed landings. Rarely did they take off on time.
When Shen Yanjin was competing for HG, he often needed to fly everywhere. Once delayed, the entire schedule had to be tightened. Yet every time he took a flight from this airline, it was bound to be delayed, leading to a mess of frustrating situations. Consequently, he held quite a grudge against it.
However, the situation was different today. Not only did Shen Yanjin hope it would be delayed, but he also hoped the delay would be a bit longer. Facts proved that Dongshan Airlines was indeed targeting him. A flight that usually delayed at least half an hour took off punctually today.
He checked his luggage and sat in his seat, his face gray, looking as if he had given up on everything.
A dead pig isn’t afraid of boiling water; things having come to this, struggling was useless. Shen Yanjin asked the flight attendant for a blanket, slumped in his seat, and closed his eyes to rest.
There was only one thing he couldn’t figure out: it would be one thing if Duan Mingyue exposed him as a man, but how did he know he was YanGold?
More importantly, did he just find out last night, or did he know long ago?
Furthermore, did Duan Mingyue know that he was actually Sliver?
The more Shen Yanjin thought, the more panicked he became, so he simply stopped thinking.
After emptying his mind, drowsiness quickly swept over him. When he opened his eyes again, Shen Yanjin was already in the sky above Cloud City.
The plane was descending. He rubbed his eyes, looking at the city beneath the clouds, and thought: I’m back again.
Persuaded to retire by a small team that never made it to the Worlds, leaving in disgrace; now invited by the World Champion team, returning in glory.
But Shen Yanjin didn’t feel much excitement in his heart. He got off the plane and walked out of the security checkpoint with the resolve of facing death.
Since Duan Mingyue said he would come to pick him up and instructed him not to run around, as soon as Shen Yanjin exited the security checkpoint, his eyes carefully scanned the crowd. He looked at those messy signs, but no one looked like Duan Mingyue, nor did any sign have his name written on it.
He was confused by the sea of people in the arrival hall for a moment before remembering to take his phone out of his backpack.
He had turned it off when the plane took off and forgot to turn it on after landing.
As soon as he turned it on, three missed calls popped up, all from Duan Mingyue.
Shen Yanjin was a bit surprised. Checking the time, the plane wasn’t delayed or late; only ten minutes had passed.
Ten minutes, three calls.
Undoubtedly, the other side must be very worried about him.
But Shen Yanjin had no mind to think about this now. He only felt that Duan Mingyue was so anxious because he wanted to come over and beat him up quickly.
After all, if someone deceived him like this, Shen Yanjin would definitely want to beat them up too.
He shrank his shoulders, closed his eyes, and tapped callback.
Duan Mingyue picked up very quickly, not even letting him hear the ringtone.
Shen Yanjin braced himself and brought the phone to his ear: “Hello? Moon God…”
“Khaki coat, white scarf, bright yellow backpack.” Duan Mingyue reported a long list of features as soon as he spoke. “Is that you?”
Shen Yanjin was stunned. Subconsciously looking down at himself, he replied blankly, “Yes.”
“Wait for me.”
After saying these three words, Duan Mingyue hung up the phone.
At this moment, Shen Yanjin finally felt the reality that he would meet Duan Mingyue soon. His heart pounded restlessly in his chest. The excitement and joy within made his whole body tremble slightly, leaving all previous worries behind.
He stood stiffly in place, daring not move, his fingers uncontrollably clutching the backpack straps due to anxiety.
Waiting was always tormenting. Even if it was just a few dozen seconds or a few minutes, Shen Yanjin felt it was exceptionally long.
Finally, a large hand reached from behind and patted his shoulder lightly.
Shen Yanjin turned around.
Probably afraid of being spotted by sharp-eyed fans and media, Duan Mingyue wore a baseball cap and sunglasses. The brim was pulled low, making the exposed lower half of his face look exceptionally handsome and cool.
He was very close, so Shen Yanjin could see his slightly surprised expression through the sunglasses.
Now, Shen Yanjin understood.
Duan Mingyue only knew he was YanGold, but didn’t know he was Sliver.
He only knew that the support who was ruthlessly rejected five years ago had changed his ID and cheekily approached him again five years later. But he didn’t know that this person had secretly followed him in the professional circle for five long years.
Shen Yanjin managed a forced smile and called out awkwardly, “Moon God.”
After all, he was someone who had seen big scenes. Duan Mingyue quickly calmed down. He gave Shen Yanjin a deep look and said, “Let’s go. We’ll talk in the car.”
