Chapter 22
Li Jie drove into the underground parking garage. The mall’s parking lot was brightly lit, so An Le could see clearly, but he still remembered the scene of robbing Lu Heng in his company’s underground parking garage with Xiao Xiao.
He felt silly and clumsy. Thankfully, Lu Heng hadn’t held it against him; instead, he had kissed him, given him a wallet, a watch, and car keys. But even then, he had been terrified and dropped everything on the ground.
An Le recalled this as he followed Lu Heng out of the car. Even with Lu Heng there, the unfamiliar environment still made him nervous and afraid, so he kept his head down, unconsciously tugging at the corner of Lu Heng’s clothes.
Entering the elevator, Lu Heng looked at the little shadow behind him, his finger pressing the floor button paused mid-air. He asked, “Which floor?”
“What?”
An Le came to his senses, realizing Lu Heng was asking which floor they were going to. He didn’t know and nervously asked, “Wh-which floor for buying… clothes?”
Lu Heng: “What kind of clothes?”
An Le thought for a moment, letting go of Lu Heng’s clothes. He noticed he had wrinkled them and quickly smoothed them, whispering, “Like… like Mr. Lu’s clothes, but… but not too expensive.”
If they were too expensive, he wouldn’t have enough money.
Lu Heng nodded, indicating he understood. Li Jie leaned against the door. After hearing their conversation, he silently pressed the sixth floor.
When the elevator doors opened, Lu Heng led An Le out. This floor was the clothing area. Lu Heng directly took him to the formal wear section.
An Le was a little scared, but when they arrived, he surprisingly found that there were no other customers besides them. He became bolder.
While browsing, he thought about which color would suit Xiao Xiao’s complexion. But An Le wasn’t sure if it was his imagination, but he felt that the differences between these suits weren’t very big.
Wine red wasn’t suitable for work. White would be too eye-catching for Xiao Xiao, easily stealing the spotlight, and wasn’t suitable either. Xiao Xiao didn’t like royal blue. And An Le didn’t like gray.
Finally, An Le chose a standard black suit; it was well-tailored and would definitely look good on Xiao Xiao.
In the end, An Le pulled on the corner of the suit and turned to call, “Mr. Lu.”
Lu Heng took a look. Wasn’t this the style he usually wore? Had he bought this to make up for wrinkling his clothes in the elevator?
Lu Heng smirked. “Hmm?”
“I, I want to buy this one, this… how much is it?”
An Le’s face flushed after asking. He had to know the price first; otherwise, it would be embarrassing if he didn’t have enough money to pay.
Lu Heng: “How much money do you have?”
An Le let go of the clothes, lowered his head, pursed his lips, and whispered, “Six thousand yuan.” That was all his savings; he couldn’t afford more.
Lu Heng was stunned before asking, “Your savings?”
An Le, a little embarrassed, nodded. “Yes.”
Then, Lu Heng didn’t say anything else but walked over to look at the price tag. “It’s not expensive. Three thousand yuan.”
“Really?”
An Le was happy. Although 3,000 yuan was expensive for him, the fact that he could afford a suit hanging in this store meant it was cheap.
Seeing the omega so easily satisfied, Lu Heng’s mood brightened. He nodded and called a sales assistant. “Wrap up what he’s chosen.”
The sales assistant immediately came to An Le, asking him for the size. Lu Heng went to the counter, gave the sales assistant a card, paid in advance, and instructed them on a few things.
Li Jie leaned there laughing. “Tsk tsk tsk, Boss is amazing…”
Lu Heng snorted coldly, ignoring him.
An Le asked the sales assistant for Xiao Xiao’s size, got it packaged, and came over with the bag. Happily, he took out his phone and carefully asked, “I don’t have a bank card. Can I pay with my phone?”
“Of course.” The sales assistant smiled and guided An Le to pay. After he paid, the sales assistant suddenly exclaimed, “Congratulations, sir! Today we have a promotion—the 88th customer gets a free matching set. Would you like it, sir? If not, we can give you cash instead.”
The surprise stunned An Le. He never expected such good luck. He rarely went out, but he had seen videos of others winning prizes online. While watching, he felt lucky for them and envious. But when this happened to him, his first reaction was disbelief; he thought it was fake, so he subconsciously looked at Lu Heng.
Lu Heng didn’t say anything but nodded at him.
With Lu Heng’s confirmation, An Le dared to believe it. He blinked his beautiful eyes, hesitating for a long time before saying, “Thank you. Th-then, with the same size, I’ll take… a white one.”
Lu Heng frowned; he didn’t like wearing white. And he had originally wanted An Le to buy him a suit too; why was he still buying for his friend?
Lu Heng wasn’t short of money, but he could understand that An Le, despite being so short of money, had used all his savings to buy clothes for someone else. In his life, everyone wanted to leech off of him. An Le was the first person to wholeheartedly treat him well. He accepted that.
Lu Heng was secretly happy, worried An Le wouldn’t buy anything for him. He quietly instructed the sales assistants, estimating An Le’s size, and asked them to pick out some suitable clothes for him. Not necessarily formal wear, but something fitting for him.
The sales assistants, delighted by the large order, immediately went to put together outfits.
An Le had bought two beautiful suits for three thousand yuan, his smile uncontainable. He followed Lu Heng like a little shadow, wherever he went, he went.
When Li Jie came over with several bags, he saw Lu Heng eagerly take the clothes bags from An Le, and under An Le’s surprised gaze, he reached out and touched them, checking the size.
“Size L!” Lu Heng’s face immediately turned cold. “Who did you buy this for?”
An Le didn’t know why Lu Heng was suddenly angry. Scared, he flinched back, no longer smiling, softly saying, “Fo-for… Xiao Xiao. Xiao Xiao’s birthday is coming up, and I, I bought this for Xiao Xiao.”
Lu Heng: … Damn it!
Lu Heng silently cursed, stuffed the bag back into An Le’s hands, and turned to leave.
“Wh-why… are you angry?” An Le didn’t understand, but when Lu Heng got angry, he became anxious, his heart flustered, tears welling up. He ran after him, “Mr. Lu, Mr. Lu…”
Lu Heng walked extremely fast, not stopping to wait for him. An Le cried and ran, not knowing what he had done wrong, only calling out Lu Heng’s name again and again.
An Le, with a crying voice: “Mr. Lu, Mr. Lu…”
Lu Heng had reached the elevator. As soon as the elevator doors opened, he saw Jiang Mo, whose face was swollen like a pig’s head. Jiang Mo and his father stepped out of the elevator.
Lu Heng suppressed his anger and stopped. An Le ran over, crying pitifully. He didn’t recognize Jiang Mo, whose face was so swollen his own mother wouldn’t recognize him. He only grabbed Lu Heng’s arm, crying and softly asking, “Mr. Lu, wh-why… did you suddenly… get angry?”
