Chapter 37: Let Me Kiss You
Huo Chen blurted out those words, but as soon as they left his mouth, he felt he had been too impulsive.
Even though impulsiveness was an emotion that shouldn’t appear in him.
Seeing the confusion emerge on Lin Huaizhi’s face, Huo Chen loosely clenched his fist and took a step back first. “Forget it.”
Having finally seen Huo Chen’s attitude soften a little, how could Lin Huaizhi let it go so easily? He snapped back to reality and grabbed Huo Chen’s hand.
“What do you mean ‘forget it’?”
“How can you just say ‘forget it’?”
“No, don’t ‘forget it’!”
Three consecutive questions fully demonstrated Lin Huaizhi’s mood at this moment. He looked at Huo Chen eagerly, wanting to pry something more out of his mouth.
“Did you just say you wanted to give me money?”
Huo Chen wasn’t one to bury his head in the sand. He had never been afraid of the unknown, and once he made a move, he wouldn’t regret it. Since he had already said it, there was no reason to retreat.
“Yes.”
Joy instantly climbed up Lin Huaizhi’s brows.
He thought for a moment and decided to probe how much trust Huo Chen currently had in him. “The civilian guests indeed have their own strengths, but if you want to give me money to cover the penalty fees for Chu Xiaoran’s advertisements, endorsements, movies, and TV dramas… It’s not that I question you, but do you know how much money that requires?”
Huo Chen scoffed.
He crossed his legs, and the aura of a superior naturally emanated from him. “How much is needed?”
Lin Huaizhi told the truth. “The breach of contract for advertisements and endorsements is estimated to be several hundred million. Adding movies and TV dramas, three or four hundred million is required.”
Huo Chen: “Specifically how much?”
Lin Huaizhi: “Starting at one billion.”
“Fine. As long as you are willing to ban Chu Xiaoran.”
Huo Chen didn’t hesitate. He had countless financial management assets under his name, plus personal investment returns. One billion was just pocket change to him.
[What is Lin Huaizhi saying to Huo Chen? The drums and singing are too loud, I can’t hear a thing.]
[Hehehe, what else can a young couple say? Sweet nothings, of course!]
[Not necessarily sweet nothings. Looking at his lip shape, Huo Chen seems to be talking about banning Chu Xiaoran. Tsk, Huo Chen looks deep and reserved, but he goes for the throat when he strikes!]
[Who does Huo Chen think he is, daring to talk about banning? Just him? He’s not even fit to carry my brother’s shoes!]
The cameras dutifully recorded everything, but a moment later, they were finally trampled by the people holding hands, spinning, and dancing.
[Eh! Why did it go black!]
[What else could it be? Those two must have done something intimate again. This livestream spends more time blacked out than on. I’m used to it. I’m going to Pretty’s livestream to watch her dance!]
“Where did you get so much money?”
Facing Lin Huaizhi’s further questioning, Huo Chen didn’t answer directly. “Don’t worry about that. Just tell me, can you ban Chu Xiaoran?”
Lin Huaizhi suddenly smiled.
“I get it. You’re jealous of Chu Xiaoran. Did he just tell you that I like him especially much, and that I like you just to provoke him?”
Huo Chen frowned.
“Don’t change the subject. Answer me directly.”
Huo Chen looked very difficult to get along with when his face was cold, especially with a frown. At times like this, even his assistant would be afraid, let alone strangers.
Lin Huaizhi wasn’t afraid of him at all.
Biting dogs don’t bark. Although this description wasn’t entirely accurate, from the time he had spent with Huo Chen, he knew that Huo Chen was a man of his word.
simply put, if he really wanted to do something to you, he would just do it. He wouldn’t keep a cold face and make you guess.
“My answer is no.”
Before Huo Chen could speak, Lin Huaizhi suddenly leaned forward and sat directly on Huo Chen’s lap. He reached out to cover Huo Chen’s mouth, his posture ambiguous and dangerous.
“Do you know how to tame a biting dog?”
“All dog taming methods are pretty much the same: give a sweet date, give a stick. But there are some dogs that, no matter how you tame them, will still bite. What should you do then?”
Lin Huaizhi was too close, and the skin pressing against his legs had a very strong presence. Huo Chen was a little tense, but only a little.
He removed Lin Huaizhi’s hand.
“If a dog bites, just kill it.”
Lin Huaizhi wasn’t surprised by this result. In the novel, Huo Chen became a villain partly because of emotional deficiency, and partly because Fang Mo constantly drew out the evil in his heart.
He liked Huo Chen.
He wouldn’t let Huo Chen really become a villain.
“Incorrect. This is a society under the rule of law. Although there are no laws explicitly prohibiting killing dogs, if a dog barks too loudly, the dog killer will also be morally condemned. I love cleanliness; I don’t want to get blood on myself.”
“There is a better solution.”
Huo Chen quickly gave a second plan: “Then pull out its teeth.”
Lin Huaizhi smiled brightly, not stingy with his praise. “Baby is so smart. If a dog bites, then pull out its teeth. So before pulling out all its teeth, we have to keep it in sight to prevent it from biting again.”
Huo Chen understood the implied meaning in Lin Huaizhi’s words.
He just felt that rather than going through the trouble of pulling teeth, it was better to eliminate the problem forever.
But he respected Lin Huaizhi. Everyone had their own style of doing things, and he wouldn’t teach Lin Huaizhi how to act.
However…
“‘Baby is so smart’… are you coaxing a child?”
Lin Huaizhi was stunned for a moment before realizing he was bringing up old scores. Of course, this score wasn’t very old; only ten seconds or so had passed.
“Of course not.”
“I am coaxing my future boyfriend.”
To be honest, Huo Chen had seen many confident people, but nine out of ten were left with only fear when standing in front of him. Lin Huaizhi, however, maintained his demeanor.
Not only was he not afraid, but he was also even more confident.
Huo Chen didn’t dislike this feeling, but it didn’t stop him from contradicting Lin Huaizhi. “You’re that confident that I’ll definitely be your boyfriend in the future?”
“What do you mean? We’ve slept together, hugged, and kissed. Are you planning not to acknowledge it now?”
“Slept…” Huo Chen decided to give up reasoning and skipped to the last point. “When did we kiss?”
Lin Huaizhi helped him recall. “When we first met. Didn’t I kiss you then? Although I only kissed the corner of your lips, you still have to blame yourself. If you hadn’t dodged, wouldn’t I have kissed you properly?”
Huo Chen was laughed into anger by his shameless behavior. “I didn’t hold it against you, yet you turn around and blame me? Do you know that for that kind of behavior, I could directly sue you for sexual harassment?”
Lin Huaizhi acted like a dead pig unafraid of boiling water. “But you didn’t sue, did you?”
Huo Chen sneered. “It seems that being able to build Huameng meant taking shamelessness to the extreme.”
“Can’t be helped. Children without umbrellas can only run hard in the rain.”
Seeing Lin Huaizhi admit it frankly, Huo Chen fell into silence for a moment. Fortunately, Lin Huaizhi still had something to say. He leaned forward a bit more. “Since we’ve talked to this point, how about letting me fulfill a dream?”
Huo Chen had a bad premonition.
“What dream?”
Lin Huaizhi leaned closer and closer until the tips of their noses touched. His voice softened, his eyes full of tenderness. “Just a tiny dream, very small. Small enough that letting me kiss you once will do.”
“Not on the side of the mouth…”
The folk songs were loud and clear, the bonfire flickered, and shadows moved around them. The young man kept his eyes open and pressed his lips against the man’s.
“Just kiss in the middle.”
