Chapter 2: A Little Wild Dog with a Bad Record Needs a Good Lesson
Hearing this voice, Qin Wan’s body couldn’t help but shrink back.
Only then did he discover that not far to his left, on the sofa, sat a man, silent and still.
His features were deep, his appearance breathtakingly beautiful.
His long legs were crossed, his expression indifferent.
It was the very “President Gu” who had ordered him to be locked up earlier.
Qin Wan had heard colleagues chat, saying that the Old Master of the wealthy Gu family had seven grandchildren, all of whom were presidents of various levels within the Gu Corporation’s Huiyao Group.
So he didn’t know which “President Gu” was in front of him.
As long as it wasn’t the boss of this Grand Island Blue Bay Hotel, Gu Xinglan.
Because he had heard from colleagues about the formidable nature of that Seventh Master Gu.
Young, black-bellied, and ruthless; he never left room for negotiation and could destroy people while laughing and chatting.
Qin Wan shrank into the corner of the wall, looking timidly at the man opposite him.
Although there was no obvious anger on that face with its god-tier looks, the pressure he exuded seemed to spill out from his very bones.
Qin Wan prepared to bring out 120% sincerity to beg for forgiveness.
He wanted to leave here immediately.
Because right now, he had a very bad feeling.
“S-Sir…” He shifted his body, lowering his head slightly.
“I really know I was wrong. I just stole those few things, and they all fell out earlier.”
“I didn’t mean to bump into your family’s Old Master either.”
“Please don’t hold it against me. Could you untie me? Could you be lenient and spare me?”
His voice was low, sounding pitiful.
His beautiful fox eyes drooped slightly, not daring to look directly into the man’s gaze.
This time, he wasn’t acting.
He truly feared this man who radiated a cold and hostile aura.
“Lenient?” Gu Xinglan spoke methodically. “It’s not impossible.”
Qin Wan instinctively looked up.
He hadn’t expected this man, who looked so gloomy and cold, to be so reasonable.
Gu Xinglan’s brow raised almost imperceptibly.
“Answer one question for me. If the answer satisfies me, perhaps I will consider letting you off.”
Qin Wan nodded hurriedly. “Okay, Sir, please ask!”
Gu Xinglan spoke slowly: “Qin Wan, do you still remember me?”
Hearing this question, Qin Wan’s clear black eyes widened, filled with confusion.
“Sir, you…”
Gu Xinglan’s voice wasn’t loud; he reminded him almost gently, “Think carefully before you answer.”
Qin Wan’s handsome brows furrowed.
His brain searched frantically through his memories.
But to no avail.
He couldn’t recall ever having any interaction with someone from the wealthy Gu family.
“Sir, I really, really can’t remember…” he said in a low voice, somewhat terrified. “Did I offend you before? Could you… give me a hint?”
Gu Xinglan let out a scoffing laugh.
Heh, he doesn’t remember a thing!
It was no wonder.
That was already seven years ago.
It was just a brief encounter, and under such unsavory circumstances.
Only he himself had never forgotten, remaining entangled in the deepest part of his heart for so many years.
It was like a soft thorn; although it wouldn’t make him bleed profusely, it would throb with pain whenever it was touched.
At that time, Gu Xinglan was fifteen.
That day, his father, Gu Feng, went to the neighboring Jiang City to discuss business and took him along.
On the road, he met a beautiful boy of about eleven or twelve.
The boy had a frail figure and red-rimmed eyes. There was a faint scar on his right eyelid.
He looked pitiable.
The boy told him he had been separated from his family.
He wanted to borrow his phone to contact them.
Seeing the boy so simple and delicate, his clear eyes filled with aggrieved expressions, Gu Xinglan didn’t have his guard up at all and handed the phone over.
But the child took the phone, and while he was off guard, turned and dove into a winding back alley.
By the time he tried to chase, the person was long gone.
At the time, Gu Feng stood by, watching the whole process coldly.
After returning home, Gu Feng made him kneel in the reflection room for a full seven hours.
He made him reflect on how stupid his “womanly benevolence” was.
The phone wasn’t worth any money, but the kindness and soft-heartedness in his bones made Gu Feng extremely displeased.
During those seven hours, that boy’s shadow constantly flickered before Gu Xinglan’s eyes.
The fair, delicate, handsome face; the beautiful eyes that invited pity.
He looked so obedient, yet he was a black-hearted little liar.
Seven hours strangled the last remnants of kindness and compassion in his nature.
At the same time, Gu Feng took away his only companion, the Golden Retriever he had raised since childhood, and cruelly disposed of it.
As punishment for him not maintaining his “wolf nature.”
“Sir…” A low call from Qin Wan pulled Gu Xinglan’s thoughts back.
He stood up.
He walked slowly toward Qin Wan.
“I said, if the answer satisfied me, I would consider sparing you.”
“But clearly, I am not satisfied.”
His voice was peaceful, yet it made Qin Wan shiver uncontrollably.
He walked up to him, standing tall with one hand in his trouser pocket.
The dark grey high-end luxury suit accentuated his handsome figure, making him look even more heroic and imposing.
He lowered his eyes slightly, staring down coldly at him from above.
“Sir!” Qin Wan cried out. “I really can’t remember.”
The oppression this man gave off was too strong, causing his heart to palpitate in waves.
“If… if I offended you before, I apologize for that too, is that okay?” He tilted his head back, blinking his eyes as he looked at him.
The corners of Gu Xinglan’s lips hooked up. “That is not the attitude of someone begging.”
“Are you going to talk to me sitting down?”
Qin Wan’s small face turned bitter. “But, I can’t stand up!”
Gu Xinglan leaned down slightly, his voice soft, but the temperature spilling from it was extremely cold. “Then kneel properly.”
Qin Wan’s breathing instantly became more rapid.
He was both afraid and annoyed.
Why did he have to kneel?
Did he violate some heavenly law?
He didn’t want to kneel!
But right now, the situation was forcing him.
If he angered this guy, he didn’t know how he would be dealt with.
He might get beaten up. or sent to the police station, which would be even more troublesome.
Qin Wan gritted his teeth.
He understood how to seek advantages and avoid harm best.
Obediently, he used his hands to support himself on the ground, rising to kneel properly.
He lowered his head.
Gu Xinglan reached out, his long fingers lifting Qin Wan’s chin.
His gaze fell on that exquisitely featured face.
“Qin Wan, born with such a face, why do you always keep your head down?” he asked.
Qin Wan didn’t meet his eyes, pressing his lips tightly together.
He felt like this man was deliberately toying with him.
“I made a mistake; I have no face to meet anyone,” he muttered, feeling somewhat stifled but daring not to show it too obviously.
Gu Xinglan scoffed. “Heh, you’ve made mistakes more than just this once, but you don’t seem to want to change at all.”
Hearing the hidden meaning in his words, Qin Wan was confused and lifted his eyelids.
“Since you know you were wrong, you should receive some punishment, don’t you think?”
As Gu Xinglan spoke, he reached his hand toward him.
The moment the dark shadow loomed over him, Qin Wan instinctively raised his right arm to protect his head.
Gu Xinglan’s eyes narrowed abruptly.
He was caught slightly off guard by Qin Wan’s subconscious self-protective movement.
But it was only for a split second.
Gu Xinglan seamlessly clamped onto his right wrist, grasping it firmly in his palm.
Qin Wan looked up in astonishment.
He saw Gu Xinglan methodically remove the wine-red high-end casual tie from his neck.
One end of the tie wound around his wrist.
“Wh-What are you doing?” Qin Wan panicked inside, trying to pull his hand back, but he couldn’t withdraw it.
He reached out his left hand to tear at it.
But Gu Xinglan easily grasped his left hand as well.
Gu Xinglan’s fingers were long and powerful; with just one hand, he effortlessly controlled both of Qin Wan’s hands.
His movements were elegant and unhurried as he bound the wrists together, circle by circle.
Qin Wan was terrified.
His feet were shackled; if his hands were tied too, it meant he would lose all ability to resist.
He struggled with all his might, trying to break free from the man’s grip.
But this man, who looked refined and noble, had such immense strength in his hands.
“Let go! What right do you have to tie me up!”
Qin Wan shouted, but no matter what, his hands couldn’t break free from Gu Xinglan’s restraints.
“Let go! What the f*ck do you want to do!”
Desperate, he opened his mouth and bit down on Gu Xinglan’s forearm.
But Gu Xinglan seemed to have anticipated this. He was faster, grabbing Qin Wan’s jaw.
He forced him to look up and meet his gaze.
“Heh, a little wild dog with a criminal record. Your record is blotchy; you need a good lesson,” he said, leaning down and bringing his head close to Qin Wan’s ear, lowering his voice.
Softly and slowly: “Don’t rush. I will slowly grind down your claws and your sharp teeth.”
