Chapter 57: Difficult to Coax – I Was Wrong…
The night was deep. Only one lamp was lit in the living room, gently enveloping a corner of the sofa. Jiang Yunian was curled up in a pile of cushions, hugging a bulging paper bag tightly in his arms. His head nodded little by little, like a sleepy kitten.
He originally wanted to wait for Jiang Yan to come back and personally give him the scarf he had been knitting for almost a week. But for several nights in a row, Jiang Yan only came back after he had fallen asleep. He could only wait here. Waiting and waiting, his eyelids grew heavier and heavier, unaware that his two white and tender feet were exposed to the cold air.
He didn’t know how much time passed before the extremely light sound of a key came from the entryway. Jiang Yan walked in, bringing the chill of the outside with him. The light left for him in the living room and the curled-up figure on the sofa gradually dispelled the fatigue in his eyes.
He lightened his footsteps and approached, squatting down in front of the sofa.
Under the dim light, Jiang Yunian’s sleeping face was tranquil. He was sunk deep into the sofa, appearing exceptionally thin. Hugging the bag in his arms, he looked like he was guarding a treasure. Two white feet were slightly curled, revealing a trace of pitifulness.
A dryness squeezed his throat; his heart felt as if it were gripped by a small claw.
His gaze landed on those slightly red feet. Jiang Yan’s eyes darkened. Carefully holding one icy foot, he lowered his head and gently pressed against it, meticulously lingering over every spot.
In his dream, Jiang Yunian felt a ticklish sensation on his foot, like being pecked gently by small fish. He curled his toes unconsciously. Opening his eyes in a daze, the scene before him instantly sobered him up by half. “What are you doing?”
Jiang Yan raised his head; the corners of his lips still bore glistening traces. His face showed not a hint of embarrassment at being caught. He pursed his lips, savoring it. “So fragrant…”
Jiang Yunian hurriedly pulled back, blushing as he gave him a kick. Glancing at the wall clock, it was already past midnight. He muttered dissatisfiedly, “So late again…”
Jiang Yan was attracted by the paper bag in his arms. “What is this?”
Only then did he remember the important matter. Somewhat shyly, he pushed the paper bag over. “It’s cold lately… wearing this will be warmer.”
His eyes were bright, carrying expectation and a bit of nervousness. “I might not have knitted it very well…”
“For me?” Jiang Yan took the bag and pulled out a blue and white striped scarf. The stitches weren’t very neat, and the wool texture was ordinary, but one could see the effort put into it. It felt exceptionally thick in his hand.
“Help me put it on.”
Jiang Yunian knelt on the sofa. His slender white arms wrapped around the other’s neck, winding the scarf loop by loop, his fingertips bringing a wave of tingling numbness. Just then, Jiang Yan used the two ends of the scarf to loop around his neck. With a slight pull, the person fell into his embrace. “So warm, I love it to death.”
Before he had time to be happy, Jiang Yunian felt a hand restlessly exploring under the hem of his sweater, pressing on the hollow of his lower back. The voice was bewitching: “I know… there’s an even warmer place.”
“!” Jiang Yunian pressed down on that hand with trembling fingers. “Don’t… it’s very late, you have an 8 AM class tomorrow…”
“Ge doesn’t need to get up early,” Jiang Yan chuckled low, scooping him up in a princess carry. “I don’t need rest.”
…
Jiang Yan proved with his actions that even if he went until the 8 AM class, he needed rest. The next day, Jiang Yunian held his sore waist and climbed out of bed with difficulty. The madness of last night was embarrassing just to recall. Jiang Yan’s stamina was frighteningly good. Even though he had been busy with part-time jobs these past few days, he could still tirelessly torment him until the middle of the night.
He also blamed himself for being weak-willed. Jiang Yan coaxed him with two sentences, and he threw all the “Three Rules” to the back of his mind, aiding the tyrant in his tyranny. Sigh…
He spent nearly an hour in the bathroom cleaning himself up. When he went to class in the afternoon, his legs were still soft. The most fatal thing was that this class was on the fifth floor. Jiang Yunian dragged his sore legs up the stairs. Every step felt like torture. Just as he reached the turning point of the fourth floor, his foot hadn’t found stable footing when he ran headfirst into someone coming down.
He stumbled backward, grabbing the handrail just in time, luckily not falling down the stairs. When he saw clearly who it was, Jiang Yunian’s heart sank abruptly.
Zhang Hao.
Jiang Yunian glanced faintly at the face that hadn’t changed much from before. He tried to bypass him, but the other party deliberately bumped him with his shoulder.
“What’s wrong with your legs?” Zhang Hao’s face was blatantly unkind. He looked maliciously at the hand supporting his waist and the slightly trembling legs. His mouth split into a vicious grin. “Did too many guilty deeds and got karma?”
Jiang Yunian was shaken again by the bump. He gripped the handrail tightly, disgust in his heart. “Who did the guilty deeds, the school announcement made very clear.”
Announcement? Zhang Hao raised an eyebrow, and immediately kicked toward his knee!
“Ah!” Pain shot through him. Jiang Yunian fell from the last two steps, a dull pain radiating from his tailbone.
“Let’s see how long you can be glorious.” Zhang Hao looked down at him from above, his eyes cold and gloomy, then strutted away.
Jiang Yunian sucked in a breath from the pain, gritting his teeth to stand up. A warm and powerful hand supported his arm in time.
“Yunian?” Lu Yuanbai appeared beside him at some point, lending a hand. Jiang Yunian borrowed the strength to stand up, patting the dust off his body.
Lu Yuanbai looked at the footprint on his knee, his brows furrowing slightly. “Was it Zhang Hao?”
Jiang Yunian forced a pale smile, shaking his head helplessly. He didn’t want to mention it much. Fortunately, falling from the last two steps didn’t cause serious injury. When he looked up, he noticed the wool hat the senior was wearing was exactly the one he asked Hao Meng to send. At the time, he didn’t know what style to choose, so seeing stripes similar to the scarf, he just bought it.
He didn’t expect the senior to wear it today.
“It’s very warm, I like it very much,” Lu Yuanbai touched it and said.
What he sent naturally couldn’t compare to expensive things from others. Jiang Yunian was a bit embarrassed. “As long as you like it.”
Lu Yuanbai smiled. His gaze swept over the fresh red mark slightly revealed on his neck. His eyes darkened, but he didn’t ask more. He just said he’d help him to the classroom and instructed that if he felt uncomfortable, he didn’t need to go to the meeting today.
But he went anyway.
After the meeting adjourned, he was packing his things when he saw Lu Yuanbai organizing documents. Remembering the topic the group members discussed earlier, he walked over.
“Does Xuezhang plan to accept the guaranteed postgraduate spot at X University?”
Lu Yuanbai looked up. “Mn, if nothing unexpected happens.”
X University was in the neighboring Pingjing City, one of the top elite institutions in the country. Being as excellent as he was, it certainly wouldn’t be a problem.
Lu Yuanbai closed the file folder and looked at his watch. “Eat together?”
“He has an appointment.”
Before Jiang Yunian could reply, he was interrupted by a cold voice. His heart jumped, and he turned around. Jiang Yan was indeed standing behind him, his face obviously unkind.
Jiang Yan’s gaze first landed on him, then was captured by that extremely familiar hat on Lu Yuanbai’s head. His face darkened steeply. At the same time, Lu Yuanbai also saw the striped scarf on Jiang Yan’s neck that was the same style as his own, and his brows furrowed slightly.
Sandwiched between the low pressure constantly radiating from the two, the back of Jiang Yunian’s neck felt cold.
…
“Slow, slow down…” Jiang Yunian was dragged into a stumble, almost bumping into a passerby.
Wait until that person disappeared down the corridor, Jiang Yan stopped suddenly. His tall figure loomed over him, his voice cold enough to freeze. “Do you have nothing to confess?”
Jiang Yunian was confused. Confess? What?
Jiang Yan didn’t speak, but his eyes grew darker. He dragged him to continue walking forward. The two walked in tandem; the silence in the air was eerie. Just when Jiang Yunian thought it was over, he was suddenly dragged into an empty classroom nearby.
“Bang!” Before Jiang Yunian could react, he was ruthlessly pressed against the wall, enduring an angry kiss.
This kiss was heavy, carrying some ferocity to punish his disobedience. Restless hands lit fires everywhere, not letting him have it easy.
“Mmph don’t…” Jiang Yunian was both shocked and scared. His waist was still sore, how could they… and in this kind of place.
However, Jiang Yan refused to let him go. The kiss filled with anger intensified, causing chaos ceaselessly, quickly dismantling his insignificant struggles. Gradually, Jiang Yunian’s eyes became misty, giving up all resistance.
Just as he thoroughly lost his reason, the weight on his body vanished. Jiang Yan suddenly withdrew, leaving him only a cold back view.
“Bang!”
The door was slammed shut ruthlessly. In the empty, cold classroom, only Jiang Yunian remained, leaning blankly against the wall, clothes disheveled. Like a discarded rag doll, he was drowned by massive loss. He didn’t even have time to feel aggrieved. Trembling, he chased out, only catching a glimpse of a cold, decisive back.
Only at this moment did he clearly realize how angry Jiang Yan was.
Was it because he thought he said too much to the senior?
But intuition told him it seemed to be more than that.
It wasn’t until he saw the scarf inadvertently blown up by the wind that Jiang Yunian suddenly realized he had committed such a low-level mistake.
He covered his face in annoyance. I’m done for.
That evening, the atmosphere at home dropped to freezing point. Jiang Yan ate expressionlessly, not even looking at him once. Jiang Yunian ate small mouthfuls of rice, secretly sizing him up. Every time he wanted to speak, his mouth was stuffed with a chopstick-full of vegetables.
A meal spent sitting on pins and needles.
Before sleeping, Jiang Yunian dawdled through washing up. Looking at a certain someone leaning against the headboard looking at his phone, he mustered his courage to scoot to his side. Gritting his teeth, he straddled his lap. Jiang Yan’s hand holding the phone paused, but he gave no reaction.
Jiang Yunian pursed his lips, held his face, and kissed him, carefully sticking out the tip of his tongue to lick clean the wet mark he left.
This small action finally got a reaction out of Jiang Yan. He raised an eyebrow, his gaze moving from the phone to his face.
Jiang Yunian opened his watery big eyes, clear and filled with pleading, looking at him obediently.
This appearance made one’s heart soften. However, the wicked Big Bad Wolf still felt it wasn’t enough; he wanted to see what other skills he had.
“Why are you so difficult to coax…” Jiang Yunian buried himself in his neck in defeat, his entire soft body pressing against him, fingers unconsciously poking his cheek.
“…”
“What do you want?”
Jiang Yan caught a glimpse of his wet eyes. His Adam’s apple rolled; he suppressed his voice and looked away: “Figure it out yourself.”
Figure it out himself? Jiang Yunian was stunned; he had done everything he could. Just then, Jiang Yan suddenly grabbed his waist, lifted him off his lap and set him aside, getting out of bed.
Jiang Yunian thought he was so angry he didn’t want to sleep with him, asking aggrievedly, “Where are you going?”
Jiang Yan guessed what he was thinking without even turning his head, dropping a sentence “Shower” before entering the bathroom.
That’s more like it…
While he was gone, Jiang Yunian leaned against the headboard and secretly messaged Hao Meng for help, euphemistically expressing that his boyfriend seemed angry, how to coax him?
Hearing this, Hao Meng mocked him for delivering himself to the door, teasing him until he almost turned off his phone before getting serious.
Actually, not too serious.
【Hao Meng: Well, try washing yourself clean, prepare two small toys, or sexy lingerie. Be proactive, guaranteed to cool his anger by tomorrow morning (evil smile)】
This long string of text made Jiang Yunian’s face heat up. Rubbing his still sore waist, he thought of the camisole in the closet he bought but never wore…
No, absolutely not!
He swore long ago he would absolutely never wear it again, even to coax someone.
Jiang Yan came out drying his hair and saw a long bulge under the quilt, motionless. He raised an eyebrow.
Went to sleep without finishing the coaxing?
Jiang Yan laughed in anger. Little ingrate.
He strode over and threw off the quilt. The scene before him instantly made his breath hitch.
His Ge was lying there properly, wearing a small black camisole. The soft white body was wrapped in thin fabric, outlining beautiful lines. Underneath the hem, two long, thin, white legs were exposed. Jiang Yunian’s face was already thoroughly red, eyes darting around, hands helplessly pulling down the hem of the skirt. The exposed skin shivered with tiny tremors due to the cool air.
Jiang Yan’s Adam’s apple bobbed. He leaned over darkly, oppressive moisture approaching, and pinched his chin. “Such a big sacrifice?”
Jiang Yunian’s eyelashes trembled, his eyes filled with brimming water carrying shyness. “Then you… can you not be angry?”
The other party stared at him for a few seconds, then suddenly straightened up, leaning lazily half-against the headboard. He patted his own thigh, eyes full of absolute control: “Depends on Ge‘s performance.”
Wicked.
Jiang Yunian bit his lip, ultimately submitting, and slowly crawled toward him.
…
The night was cool as water; a thin mist permeated the air, half-bright and half-obscure. Jiang Yan suddenly pressed down on his shoulder, interrogating him with a hoarse voice: “Dare to make me wear a green hat again?”
Jiang Yunian shook his head instinctively. “What green hat… I didn’t…”
“You didn’t?” Jiang Yan’s fingers rubbed dangerously at the back of his neck, forcing him to look up, their nose tips touching.
“That was just a birthday gift bought randomly online…”
“Bought randomly?” Jiang Yan wasn’t satisfied, the hand on his neck applying slight force. “Same stripes as mine? Is that also random?”
“No no,” Jiang Yunian closed his eyes, finally collapsing in defeat. “I was wrong…”
Moonlight slipped in through the curtain gap, reflecting broken echoes in the silence. Jiang Yan looked at the exhausted person in his arms, the jealousy in his eyes replaced by a deeper satisfaction. He leaned down to kiss away the tear at the corner of Jiang Yunian’s eye, carrying a trace of pity.
“Remember whose person you are.”
Note: The famous “Green Hat” means being cheated on. Jiang Yan is possessive to the max here. And the “camisole” scene… well, let’s just say Yunian knows how to survive.
