Chapter 38: “Chatting? Did You Two Crush the Chair Just by Chatting?”
Actually, Lin Huaizhi had kissed Huo Chen four times.
The first was when they first met. He couldn’t control himself upon seeing Huo Chen’s face, and by the time he reacted, he had already pressed forward like a lecher. Huo Chen dodged quickly, so he only touched the corner of his lips.
The second time was when Chu Xiaoran and Fang Mo were jumping around in front of him. Both of them spoke as if he was deeply rooted in love for Chu Xiaoran. Since he couldn’t speak human language with those two, to prove he had no interest in Chu Xiaoran, he directly forced a kiss on Huo Chen.
That time was quite significant.
With so much close contact, going from Huo Chen choking his neck to getting a sliver of a response… he could practically pop champagne at halftime.
The third time followed the second. Because they didn’t complete the designated task, the program team issued a forced kiss punishment.
The last time was now.
Aside from Huo Chen, Lin Huaizhi hadn’t kissed anyone. And forget Huo Chen—even for himself, he had never been this close to anyone. It wasn’t about being pretentious or having some CEO illness; he just… subconsciously resisted. His body would automatically defend itself before being touched.
In over twenty years, this was the first time he liked someone this much. Liked them enough to overcome his physical barriers to touch them.
That was getting off track.
To speak of the present, Lin Huaizhi got his wish and kissed Huo Chen. Even though he had kissed him three times before, and even kissed until the livestream was banned, this time, Lin Huaizhi was exceptionally nervous.
And exceptionally emotional.
Maybe it was because of the mysterious Miao singing, maybe because of the sound of the lusheng and drums, or maybe because today was a day welcoming happiness.
Huo Chen didn’t refuse Lin Huaizhi.
He leaned against the back of the chair, letting Lin Huaizhi press forward inch by inch, letting Lin Huaizhi lick him like a puppy. He seemed indifferent, but in reality, he was enduring with restraint. One hand hung by the side of the chair, while the other… was resting on Lin Huaizhi’s waist.
“Huo Chen, your lips are so soft…”
Lin Huaizhi was getting a bit carried away. He leaned forward again, intending to go a bit further, when suddenly his vision spun. Followed by a loud bang, he and Huo Chen fell directly onto the ground.
No matter how loudly people were singing, this fall that smashed the chair into pieces definitely attracted attention.
Xu Qiao looked up.
In the night, she saw the young man sitting straddled on top of the fallen man, the posture ambiguous and hot.
“Ahhh—!”
Xu Qiao instantly jumped up and screamed, “We’re all on the same side! Why didn’t you call me to watch you make out!!”
A burst of laughter erupted around them.
Frankly speaking, Lin Huaizhi hadn’t kissed enough, but in this situation, kissing more wouldn’t be appropriate. He pulled Huo Chen up and patted Huo Chen’s clothes. “Sorry, I got a little too excited. You weren’t hurt, were you?”
His body wasn’t hurt.
It was just the inside of his lower lip; it seemed Lin Huaizhi had bitten the skin.
Of course, getting kissed until the skin broke wasn’t a mistake Huo Chen felt like discussing openly, so he felt he could do without his face for a moment.
Thus, he just shook his head.
Lin Huaizhi wanted to say more, but Xu Qiao had already run over. The little girl stared at the two with shining eyes, as if trying to stare a hole through their faces.
“What were you guys doing just now?”
Lin Huaizhi shook his head innocently. “Nothing, just chatting.”
Xu Qiao didn’t believe it, not even a single strand of her hair believed it. “Chatting? Did you two crush the chair just by chatting? Their chairs are very sturdy!”
Lin Huaizhi wasn’t that shameless.
Chasing someone required lowering one’s stature, but chasing Huo Chen to the point of pushing him over while kissing, and even smashing the chair into pieces, was truly a bit too embarrassing.
His camera had flown off, but the one on Xu Qiao was still working. If he told the truth, barring any accidents, he would definitely become a laughingstock for the vast number of netizens.
So, a proper lie promotes a beautiful life.
His beautiful life.
“It wasn’t anything big. Just chatting, and I saw what looked like a bug on his hair. I wanted to help, but unexpectedly tripped and pushed him over.”
Xu Qiao looked down at the flat ground. “You tripped on flat ground?”
What flat ground trip? Even on those extremely difficult mountain roads, Lin Huaizhi could run a hundred-meter dash speed. But he offered no defense, only smiled. “My balance isn’t very good.”
Xu Qiao reminded him, “Last time we carried water, you walked on the ridge carrying two buckets like you were flying!”
Lin Huaizhi kept smiling. “You said it yourself, I was carrying water. Water has weight; a bucket on each side naturally helps improve balance.”
Xu Qiao felt there was something very wrong with this statement.
“Isn’t it that you need good balance to carry two buckets of water? I’ve never heard that carrying water improves balance. Aren’t you bluffing me?”
Lin Huaizhi kept a straight face. “Why would I bluff you? It’s just like you playing games; training maintains the feel and improves proficiency, making all operations muscle memory. Carrying water is the same. Do it a few more times, and you exercise your balance.”
Xu Qiao really couldn’t pick out a fault for a moment.
But she wasn’t willing to let it go just like that. Her two eyes rolled back and forth between Lin Huaizhi and Huo Chen, wanting to spot something.
Huo Chen frowned.
Xu Qiao looked too much like she was catching adultery, and he and Lin Huaizhi were the subjects being caught.
A dating variety show was inherently a show for guests to interact and fall in love. Kissing and hugging were common occurrences in romance. Since that was the case, if he and Lin Huaizhi kissed, then they kissed. What was wrong with that?
What was there to hide?
Just as Huo Chen was about to speak, Xu Qiao called a retreat over there. “Alright then, you guys stop chatting too. Let’s go dance together!”
Since it had come to this, Huo Chen ultimately remained silent.
Having coaxed Xu Qiao away, Lin Huaizhi finally breathed a sigh of relief. He turned and invited Huo Chen. “It’s a rare opportunity. Want to dance together?”
Huo Chen lifted his eyelids to look at him.
Lin Huaizhi: “?”
Lin Huaizhi: “We were fine just a moment ago. Why are you suddenly angry? Is it because I forced a kiss on you?”
“No.”
Huo Chen didn’t shirk responsibility.
Lin Huaizhi did force the kiss, but he didn’t refuse, so that kiss counted as their conspiracy.
“Then do you want to go dance together?”
This time Huo Chen refused. “I’m not good at these things. You can go by yourself.”
