Chapter 33: Addicted to Snatching Things?
Shen Zhouyue spoke unceremoniously, “First come, first served. Does Mr. Wen not understand this principle?”
“Or has Mr. Wen become addicted to snatching other people’s things?”
Shen Zhouyue’s words were pointed.
This was the first time Xu Lingfeng had seen Shen Zhouyue like this.
He cast curious glances back and forth between Shen Zhouyue and Wen Qiusheng.
Wen Qiusheng’s expression turned somewhat gloomy. “What do you mean?”
Shen Zhouyue held the gift box containing the teapot, glanced slightly at Wen Qiusheng, and quickly withdrew his gaze. “Mr. Wen knows very well what I mean.”
“I wonder, after Mr. Wen spent so much effort and did so many things to harm his own biological brother, did you get what you wanted?”
When Shen Zhouyue mentioned harming his biological brother, Wen Qiusheng’s face became even uglier.
His hands hanging by his sides clenched into fists at some point, nails digging deep into the flesh, sending waves of pain from his palms. “I don’t know what you’re talking about.”
“I only came for the teapot today. Mr. Shen, isn’t it inappropriate for you to slander me like this over a teapot?”
Wen Qiusheng tried his best to control his emotions, but his tone still revealed guilt and anger.
Shen Zhouyue had a clear conscience, so he spoke with confidence.
“Whether I am slandering you or not, Mr. Wen knows in his heart.”
“Since the teapot is wrapped, I won’t continue to disturb Mr. Mo. I’ll take my leave!”
Mo Chen nodded, ignoring Wen Qiusheng beside him, and started busying himself.
Wen Qiusheng could see that Mo Chen was doing this on purpose, clearly unwelcome to him.
Wen Qiusheng trembled with anger, but he knew he couldn’t afford to offend the person in front of him. So, he forcefully suppressed the anger in his heart and squeezed out a twisted smile from his face. “I wonder if Mr. Mo has other styles of teapots here?”
Mo Chen didn’t even look up, his tone cold. “No.”
“I only had one teapot, and it’s sold.”
“Take care, I won’t see you out!”
Shen Zhouyue and Xu Lingfeng, who hadn’t walked out of the store yet, saw Mo Chen’s attitude and couldn’t help laughing.
With their laughter, Wen Qiusheng’s emotions spiraled completely out of control.
“Mr. Mo, no matter what dissatisfaction you have with me, right now I am a guest in your store. As the owner, isn’t it inappropriate for you to treat a guest with such an attitude?”
“If you don’t like my attitude, you can leave. I didn’t force you to come here to buy things.”
Mo Chen didn’t even lift his head and continued, “Besides, did you come to my store to truly buy things, or did you want to use this to get close to me and get something from me?”
“Mr. Wen, don’t treat everyone else as fools. It’s not that others can’t see through your tricks; they just don’t want to deal with you.”
Wen Qiusheng couldn’t bear it anymore.
He wanted to rush forward and destroy the ancient book Mo Chen was restoring, but he knew he couldn’t afford to pay for it.
He could only stomp angrily toward the door and slam it as he left.
Shen Zhouyue was even deliberately bumped by him.
If Shen Zhouyue hadn’t been quick to place the teapot on a nearby shelf, he would have been knocked over, and the teapot in his hand would have fallen to the ground.
Even with the packaging box, such a fall would likely cause damage.
“What kind of person is that! Such poor manners!”
Xu Lingfeng frowned, watching Wen Qiusheng storm out. “Mo Chen, what exactly did that guy do last time he came? Why do you hate him so much?”
Mo Chen looked up at Xu Lingfeng. “Do you know who he came with last time?”
Xu Lingfeng shook his head. “If I knew, I wouldn’t be asking you!”
Mo Chen wiped his hands clean. Feeling he probably wouldn’t have time to restore the book today, he put it away in a box nearby.
Then, he moved a small coffee table to the open space in the middle of the shop.
“Last time, he came with Cheng Yu. Their relationship looked very intimate, definitely not ordinary.”
Hearing this, Shen Zhouyue frowned immediately and asked in confusion, “Wasn’t it said that he had a falling out with his family because he was with a college student?”
Why are the stories different?
Shen Zhouyue hadn’t met Cheng Yu before, so he didn’t know who was telling the truth.
“I don’t know the specific details, but when they came last time, their relationship looked very intimate, absolutely not ordinary.”
“And Cheng Yu planned to buy him a very expensive antique. That was the first time Cheng Yu had ever come to my shop!”
Hearing Mo Chen’s words, Xu Lingfeng frowned immediately. “Brother Cheng Yu is going too far.”
“Sister Qingyue is so good to him, yet he messes around behind her back!”
Shen Zhouyue was already very dissatisfied with Wen Qiusheng because of Wen Qiuning’s matter. Hearing Mo Chen’s words now, he felt even more disgust.
“Don’t rush to spread this matter yet. After all, we have no evidence. We don’t want the Cheng family to make a scene.”
Xu Lingfeng nodded. “I know!”
“According to Mr. Mo, Wen Qiusheng and Brother Cheng Yu are very close. Then why did he act like he cared so much about Tingzhou in front of me?”
Neither Xu Lingfeng nor Mo Chen was clear on this, so they were momentarily stunned.
“You mean he expressed his liking for Tingzhou in front of you?”
Shen Zhouyue nodded. “But at that time, he didn’t seem to know about the relationship between Tingzhou and me, nor did he know Tingzhou was married.”
Although he disliked Wen Qiusheng, Shen Zhouyue wouldn’t slander him, so he naturally told the truth.
“Later, we met again at a restaurant. This time he knew Tingzhou and I were married, but he didn’t seem to have any intention of giving up.”
“If he is with the Cheng Yu you mentioned, why would he still try to hook up with Tingzhou?”
Shen Zhouyue’s words confused Xu Lingfeng and Mo Chen as well.
They discussed it for a while but reached no conclusion, so they didn’t dwell on the issue.
After all, some people’s thoughts were simply unfathomable to normal people like them.
“Forget it. No matter what purpose he has, it won’t be achieved.”
“Tingzhou cares about you so much. Even if Wen Qiusheng wants to hook up with him, he won’t succeed. As for Brother Cheng Yu, before the cooperation between the two families ends, Brother Chengfeng won’t let him do anything that affects the reputation of both families.”
“You said Wen Qiusheng is addicted to snatching other people’s things. Do you know some other news?”
Shen Zhouyue smiled but didn’t speak, as this matter concerned Wen Qiuning’s privacy.
Xu Lingfeng wanted to gossip more, but Mo Chen stopped him.
“If you have nothing to do, come help me. You’ve taken quite a few good things from me; you should do something for me in return, right?”
Hearing Mo Chen’s words, Xu Lingfeng immediately let out a wail. “Ah… You know my personality; I can’t sit still at all!”
“With that time, I’d rather go play billiards or go shopping with others than stay here with you repairing those artifacts. It’s too boring!”
Mo Chen’s face went cold, making his temperament seem even more otherworldly.
“Do you think I’m discussing this with you?”
“Auntie specifically asked me to watch over you, to stop you from always going out with shady people, messing around, spending money recklessly, and getting into trouble.”
Xu Lingfeng was naturally unconvinced. Being told his friends were shady, he immediately said unhappily, “Who says my friends are shady? That incident was just an accident. Even if you guys hadn’t discovered it, I wouldn’t have been stupid enough to be cheated.”
Xu Lingfeng unhappily hooked his arm around Mo Chen’s neck. He was half a head shorter than Mo Chen, so the posture wasn’t comfortable for either of them, but Xu Lingfeng refused to let go.
“You have the nerve to say that? Regarding that incident, if Auntie and Brother Lingcheng hadn’t discovered it in time, how could you be so carefree now? You would have been sued and locked up long ago!”
Shen Zhouyue saw Mo Chen’s concern for Xu Lingfeng and asked curiously, “Mr. Mo, are you and Lingfeng a couple?”
At this question, Xu Lingfeng, who was still hooking Mo Chen’s shoulder, let go as if electrocuted and retreated a few steps, looking as if he was afraid Shen Zhouyue would link him with Mo Chen.
“Don’t talk nonsense. I don’t like such an old fogey, and I certainly wouldn’t be with one. Being with him, I probably wouldn’t even be allowed to go to a bar at night. I’d be pressed to learn things I don’t like all day. I won’t do it!”
Xu Lingfeng said all this, but he never actually said he didn’t like Mo Chen.
Shen Zhouyue estimated they probably liked each other, but Xu Lingfeng hadn’t realized his true feelings yet.
Hearing Xu Lingfeng’s words, Mo Chen’s face instantly turned cold.
“If Auntie hadn’t entrusted you to me, do you think I’d be happy to spend so much time managing you?”
Xu Lingfeng froze, sensing Mo Chen was angry.
He carefully scooted closer to Mo Chen, glancing at his face from time to time, looking conflicted, seemingly considering what to say.
“Since you dislike me managing you so much, starting today, I won’t manage you anymore. I’ll make it clear to Auntie. From today on, you’re free. Happy now?”
Xu Lingfeng was used to being managed by Mo Chen. Hearing him say this suddenly, Xu Lingfeng couldn’t react for a moment.
Shen Zhouyue hadn’t expected his casual remark to cause a quarrel between them. He quickly said, “I just said it casually. Don’t take what I just said to heart.”
Mo Chen forced a smile and looked at Shen Zhouyue. “I should thank you!”
“If not for your joke today, I wouldn’t have known Lingfeng had so many complaints about me in his heart!”
“In that case, I will stay far away from you in the future. You don’t need to come looking for me all the time, saving you from being unhappy.”
“It’s getting late; you guys should go!”
Xu Lingfeng opened his mouth several times to say something, but Mo Chen had already turned his back and walked toward another room.
