Chapter 30: Green Light
“Still not waking up?” Cheng Ge’s tone sounded genuinely confused. “Then I can only go eat breakfast myself.”
“The early bird gets the worm.”
Cheng Ge’s footsteps went da da da to the door, closing it.
Wen Ling heard the soft click, seemingly patting his heart along with it, a bit disappointed.
He thought Cheng Ge leaning so close was to kiss him.
Just like on TV when he was little, Dad would give Mom a good morning kiss, although he didn’t know why he thought like that.
Wen Ling rolled over, forehead pressing against the pillow, arching his back, stopping for two seconds before getting up.
He originally had no spirit, but suddenly glimpsed that at the closed door, there was not only a door but also a person standing in front of it.
Instantly something exploded in his heart.
Cheng Ge watched Wen Ling’s figure stiffen for half a second, his smile deepening: “Why up suddenly?”
“Want to eat the worm?”
Wen Ling collided with Cheng Ge’s curved eyes. Probably because Cheng Ge’s smile was too infectious, he unconsciously raised a smile too.
[Conquest Value +1%]
Cheng Ge was stunned. This conquest value rose so unexpectedly. He really didn’t get it, asking: “You’re very happy?”
Wen Ling felt his heartbeat was a bit fast. He liked this feeling, so he nodded: “Happy.”
Cheng Ge walked over, stooping, “Why so happy?”
“Don’t know.” After speaking, Wen Ling suddenly kissed Cheng Ge on the face.
Cheng Ge’s figure paused, eyes darting left and right, just not landing on Wen Ling.
What’s wrong with the little lunatic now!?
Eating breakfast, Cheng Ge asked: “Shall we rest a bit after breakfast then go out?”
Wen Ling didn’t even lift his head, waiting for Cheng Ge to want to ask again before giving a “Good.” Listening to it, one knew he had no enthusiasm, but Cheng Ge really couldn’t care so much anymore. Being locked up any longer, the one to go crazy first would be him.
After eating, Cheng Ge washed the dishes, tidied up the living room, and prepared to go back to the walk-in closet to change clothes. As a result, just as he opened the door, he saw a Wen Ling wrapped up tight.
Black large brim hat covering Wen Ling’s eyes, white mask covering most of his face, long clothes long pants, looking particularly stuffy.
Cheng Ge felt it strange and funny, lifting Wen Ling’s hat brim: “Are you going to rob someone?”
“Don’t move.” Wen Ling slapped away Cheng Ge’s hand grumpily, looking fierce.
Suddenly being scolded, Cheng Ge withdrew his hand awkwardly: “Isn’t it hot in this summer?”
Wasn’t Wen Ling afraid of heat?
Wen Ling ignored him, or maybe he did, just shaking his head very slightly.
Cheng Ge bent down, “Can you see the road?”
“Can.”
Fine, Cheng Ge felt he was possessed by an old father blindly worrying for the little lunatic.
Cheng Ge randomly picked a T-shirt and jeans in the closet, took a crossbody bag, and to make Wen Ling appear less weird, he also found a hat for himself to match.
Usually wearing pajamas or very simple T-shirts, shorts, and slippers, suddenly changing into jeans and wearing sneakers, Cheng Ge was a bit unaccustomed.
He looked down at his outfit, feeling it looked quite good. Actually, Cheng Ge didn’t know if these clothes were the original host’s own or bought by Wen Ling. Preliminary observation suggested the latter.
Because there were many types of clothes, very new, and all looked good.
Had to say, although Wen Ling’s thinking cognition had a little problem, his aesthetics were really quite good. Even the tightly wrapped outfit just now was good-looking, just incorrect for the season.
Going out, initially worried Wen Ling was afraid of the sun, wanting to use an umbrella to show off a bit, but looking at the tightly wrapped person, seemed absolutely no need for sun protection.
The location of this villa was really remote, feeling like being in the mountains, not even half a neighbor. Ordinary people definitely couldn’t figure out how a house could be built here.
Called a taxi. Cheng Ge heard the navigation say “The whole journey takes about one hour and twenty-seven minutes,” and was dumbfounded, momentarily feeling sorry for the delivery guy who came before.
Cheng Ge gazed at the scenery outside the window, somewhat trance-like. Having not come out to breathe fresh air for so long, previously unremarkable flowers, grass, and trees in his eyes now seemed interesting.
The driver was probably very introverted, not chatting with Cheng Ge and Wen Ling. The car was quiet, softly playing soothing old-school music.
Cheng Ge’s arm sank. Turning his head, he found Wen Ling’s head resting on his arm, already asleep.
The distance between the two wasn’t close. Wen Ling’s body slanted over mostly; Cheng Ge felt uncomfortable just looking at it. So he carefully moved closer to Wen Ling, adjusting Wen Ling’s head.
Unknown if watching Wen Ling sleep soundly, Cheng Ge unconsciously yawned, also a bit sleepy, so he closed his eyes and rested for a while.
Getting off the car, looking at the surging crowd on the street, Cheng Ge felt unaccustomed. Lowering his eyes to glance at Wen Ling behind him, he found the little thief turned into a timid little quail, even more unaccustomed than him.
“Where to stroll first?” Actually, the villa didn’t lack things for school starting. Even the original host’s luggage was there, counting as complete. Cheng Ge’s main purpose for coming out was strolling, relaxing, so he didn’t list a shopping list.
Wen Ling looked at him, speaking truth: “Don’t know, you wanted to come out yourself.”
Unknown why, Cheng Ge tasted a meaning of speechlessness yet indulgence in that glance.
“Then let’s stroll in the pharmacy.” Various medicines were necessities Cheng Ge could think of immediately.
Entering the pharmacy, cold medicine, Ibuprofen, painkillers, fever cooling patches, styptic plasters, alcohol, and iodine, all taken by Cheng Ge once, then scanned code, paid.
The original host’s account had ten thousand or so. Yesterday Cheng Ge exchanged the payment password with 001 for 0.3 points.
Actually, he was curious where the original host went, or if it was just a novel setting, not truly existing, but 001 said he had no authority to know.
“Doesn’t the medicine chest have these already?”
“Prepare more. Aren’t you always sick,” Cheng Ge stated, “Always having problems here and there.”
Wen Ling looked up at him. Cheng Ge thought the little lunatic misunderstood something again, hurriedly explaining: “Didn’t mean you’re not normal, just afraid you’ll feel bad when sick without medicine to relieve it.”
Wen Ling’s eyelids lowered, nodding thoughtfully.
Exiting the pharmacy, Cheng Ge saw a daily necessities supermarket across the road. Going inside, he could naturally know what to buy, so he immediately decided on the next destination.
“Go see that supermarket across.” Cheng Ge walked to the short zebra crossing at the street corner, waiting for the red light to turn green.
Traffic stopped, green light.
“Go,” Cheng Ge walked forward two steps, but realized Wen Ling still stopped in place. The little quail stayed in place for two seconds before hurrying to keep up.
Two people walking one after another. Cheng Ge looked at Wen Ling, then at the green light, suddenly remembering that sorrowful and despairing dream.
Remembered that child falling on the ground sobbing and crying pain.
Cheng Ge’s gaze darkened. Footsteps didn’t stop, reaching out to hold Wen Ling’s fist-clenched hand, using some strength to pull the person, “Stay closer.”
Wen Ling didn’t expect Cheng Ge would hold his hand. More accurately, he didn’t know shopping could be done like this, crossing traffic lights could be done holding hands.
