Chapter 37: Little Sister-in-law
Ye Zhile was forced into heat, his whole body unbearably hot. Ji Shuohan placed him in the back seat, but Ye Zhile kept hugging Ji Shuohan tightly, refusing to let go.
Helpless, Ji Shuohan got into the car and held the person in his arms. The person in his embrace burrowed into him unconsciously, seeking a sanctuary, whimpering softly, “So uncomfortable…”
The body in his arms was soft, emitting the sweet fragrance of freesia. Ji Shuohan’s hand wrapped around the soft, slender waist, feeling that a little more force might snap it.
He cupped Ye Zhile’s face, his thumb wiping away the bloodstain on the Omega’s lip. The Omega’s face was flushed, lips slightly parted, like a fine piece of jade embellished with the sunset glow. Ji Shuohan’s pupils tightened. Guided by some strange force, he lowered his head, wanting to touch that softness.
Just as he was about to touch those crimson lips, the person in his arms opened his eyes. A pair of misty eyes looked at him, like a lost, innocent fawn. In the end, Ji Shuohan placed a kiss on Ye Zhile’s forehead.
After giving the Omega a temporary mark, the person in his arms fell into a deep sleep. Ji Shuohan laid him flat on the seat, covered him with his coat, and then drove home.
Ji Shuohan carried the person horizontally upstairs. He didn’t take him to the Omega’s room but carried him directly to his own bedroom.
Afterward, Ji Shuohan took out the medical kit and treated the wound on the Omega’s hand.
Seemingly sensing more of the familiar pheromones, the Omega buried his face into the quilt and slept soundly.
Ye Zhile slept very well, except when he woke up, his whole body was sore and weak. He opened his eyes, and what entered his vision wasn’t his own room. He scrambled up, dumbfounded.
Why was he in My Lord’s room?
Ye Zhile remembered what happened yesterday. He touched the back of his neck; the stinging sensation sobered him up.
Ye Zhile’s face flushed with embarrassment. He tidied himself up and went downstairs, not daring to look at the man with the unpleasant expression at the dining table at all.
Ye Zhile ate breakfast cautiously until Ji Shuohan called his name. Ye Zhile jumped in fright. “Ah?”
Ji Shuohan suspected he might have been too fierce, but he hadn’t spoken that loudly. “Is your body okay?”
Ye Zhile shook his head repeatedly. “I’m fine… Thank you, My Lord.”
“I’ve requested leave from the school for you. Rest at home for the next few days.”
“Okay,” Ye Zhile responded.
Ji Shuohan got up, preparing to go upstairs, but in the end, he couldn’t help but say, “Your taste in making friends is truly a bit poor.”
Ye Zhile buried his head and didn’t make a sound. It wasn’t until Ji Shuohan was about to go upstairs that he heard the sound of the Omega sobbing softly. Ji Shuohan paused, wondering if his words were too excessive.
Ye Zhile had been doted on and protected by his family since childhood. His personality was simple, so naturally, he didn’t have that many schemes when dealing with people. So, speaking to him like that wasn’t very good.
Ji Shuohan sighed. He turned back, walked to the Omega’s side, and gently pulled him into his arms by the shoulder.
Ye Zhile leaned into Ji Shuohan’s embrace, crying his heart out. “Wu…”
By the time the teenager calmed down, breakfast had gone cold. He wiped his tears, looked at the water stains on My Lord’s clothes, and turned beet red.
“Feeling better?” Ji Shuohan asked him.
Ye Zhile nodded. “Mn.”
“How about I take you out to have fun today?”
Ye Zhile looked up. “Is My Lord not going to the Supreme Leader’s Ministry?”
“Resting for a few days.”
“Okay.”
Ye Zhile’s emotions came quickly and left quickly. One second he was in sorrow, but after a good cry, he threw it to the back of his mind. Not going to class, he stayed at home watching the news. When My Lord was working, he obediently didn’t disturb him, chatting with Xiao Ruo and the others. When My Lord was free, he chatted with him about everything under the sun, never letting himself be idle.
In the afternoon, because they were going out to play, Ye Zhile carefully selected his outfit. He dallied in the cloakroom for a long time, finally choosing a soft, beige loose shirt and a pair of khaki casual pants.
The teenager already looked soft, and coupled with this soft material, he looked like he was sunken in clouds, all fluffy. He ran downstairs, afraid My Lord would be waiting anxiously.
Ji Shuohan wasn’t in a hurry, but seeing the Young Master rushing, he frowned. “Run slower.”
“Oh.” Ye Zhile radiated joy. This was his first time going out with My Lord!
“Let’s go!” Ye Zhile stood beside him. Ji Shuohan looked him up and down. “Nice.”
Ye Zhile gave a “hehe” laugh and followed behind Ji Shuohan.
It wasn’t until they arrived at a Chinese restaurant that Ye Zhile realized they were out to meet My Lord’s friends today!
This restaurant had very few people, so it was quiet. The environment was elegant and classical, exuding a majestic atmosphere. The waiter led them to a private room and left.
Ji Shuohan opened the door. Three people were sitting inside. Seeing the two arrive, the three stood up joyfully.
“Shuohan! You guys finally came.” Xiao Yuanqing walked over. He saw the little Omega behind Ji Shuohan. “This must be…?”
“Ye Zhile, my spouse.” Ji Shuohan pulled Ye Zhile to the front. Ye Zhile gave a shallow bow. “Hello, I am Ye Zhile.”
Hearing such a polite and soft greeting, the three immediately became flustered. Ming Xi said, “Aiyoyoyo! Can’t have that, can’t have that! How can it be Little Sister-in-law greeting us? It should be us greeting Little Sister-in-law.”
Ye Zhile blushed at being called “Little Sister-in-law.” He smiled shyly. Ji Shuohan pulled him along. “Sit.”
“How old is Little Sister-in-law this year? He looks so young.” Ming Xi was a lively one; he started finding topics as soon as he sat down.
“Eleven years younger than you,” Ji Shuohan replied.
“Eleven years younger…?” Ming Xi couldn’t believe it. He looked at Ji Shuohan with shock. “Wocao, Brother Shuohan! You two are twelve years apart?”
“So?” Ji Shuohan raised an eyebrow slightly, his gaze unkind, seemingly warning Ming Xi that one more word and he would ‘die’.
Ming Xi obediently shut his mouth and dropped the topic. “I’m a few years older than Little Sister-in-law. How about this? We’ll each address each other our own way. I’ll call you Little Sister-in-law, and you call me Brother, how about that?”
“Sure.” Ye Zhile had absolutely no objections. Whatever others said, he agreed. His whole face had “I am easily tricked” written on it.
“Aiyo, really obedient.” Ming Xi looked at him like he was looking at his own child. “If I had such a younger brother, how happy would I be.”
Ji Shuohan glanced at him sideways. “Go ask Vice Minister Ye. He’d probably be very happy to answer that question for you.”
“Need you ask?” At this moment, Pei Ziyu chimed in from the side. “I heard from Gu Yueming that his Major spends all day in the military camp talking about nothing but ‘my little brother this, my little brother that,’ haha…”
Ye Zhile smiled without speaking.
The waiter served the dishes. Several people chatted while eating. Ye Zhile ate properly and listened to their conversation. Sometimes they talked about matters concerning the Federation and the Empire. Ye Zhile didn’t understand much, but he could roughly make out that someone in the Federation had become distracted, harboring wild ambitions to annex the Empire’s frontier territory, even using the Empire’s frontier citizens as a threat.
He wondered how the situation was with Dad and Father over there.
Translator’s Note: Ming Xi calls Ye Zhile “Little Sister-in-law” (小嫂嫂 – Xiao Saosao). Even though Ye Zhile is male, “Sister-in-law” (Saosao) is commonly used in Danmei (BL) novels for the partner of an older brother/friend, regardless of gender. The “Little” is added because Ye Zhile is significantly younger than them. Also, regarding the Enigma’s “Rut” (or Susceptibility Period), typically Enigmas are portrayed as the top of the hierarchy, able to mark Alphas, and are usually immune to pheromones unless they find their destined partner—hence the drama!
