Chapter 15: Why Didn’t You Call Me Gege Just Now?
“Why are you just standing there not moving? You were absent-minded watching the movie just now too. Isn’t this your favorite genre?” Lu Wuxu, who had been following Shen Guanchao’s side, said.
Usually the most active one in team building, this time he was zoning out throughout the movie.
Shen Guanchao smiled: “Nothing.”
He suddenly felt mischievous and commented under Xie Jingchu’s Friends Circle post—
[Why didn’t you call me Gege just now?]
After posting, he turned off his phone and raised an eyebrow at Lu Wuxu: “Go for a drink? Not bringing Zoe.”
“With whom?” Lu Wuxu asked.
“Lihua Na and the others. The old guys from RSG and ASA are all there. Soso said he missed you.”
“Let’s go.”
8 PM, top floor of a certain clubhouse.
In the private room, more than a dozen new and old players who had made names for themselves in the esports circle over the years gathered to drink. In twos and threes, without scruples, they spiritedly talked about how they came all this way over the years.
Soso, who had just returned from Northern Europe not long ago, wailed: “Do you guys know how abstract that team of mine is??”
“Three foreigners and me in the team. I couldn’t speak the language and relied entirely on sign language to communicate during matches, yet I was MVP every game.”
“Those foreign guys even gossiped about me in their native language behind my back when I wasn’t there. I’m the pillar of the team, okay?!!”
“No respect for me at all!”
Shen Guanchao pushed open the door of the private room. Hearing Soso wailing so comically, he laughed: “Broken defense (triggered) again? Pillar Brother.”
“Holy sh*t, Shen Guanchao?” Soso turned his head to see him, his expression changing from gnashing teeth to beaming with joy. “Not bad, good buddy. Not long after I left, you became the Demon King of the region.”
Shen Guanchao said without modesty: “Always have been, okay?”
The Demon King smiled and sat on the sofa, pouring a glass of wine.
Lu Wuxu knew his alcohol tolerance was good and didn’t stop him.
Midway through.
Shen Guanchao, who was bragging with Soso while playing dice, suddenly received two reply messages. He put down the dice cup and opened WeChat.
[Xie Jingchu: Just now, I didn’t deliberately not call you.] [Xie Jingchu: Sorry.] [Flesh: No need to say sorry.] [Flesh: Besides, I didn’t call you either.] [Flesh: Anything else?] [Xie Jingchu: Yes. Is Gege free to play Arena now?] [Xie Jingchu: I can’t beat them.]
As a technical streamer with millions of fans, Xie Jingchu’s cheeks felt slightly hot when saying this.
The other side, however, firmly rejected him for the second time.
[Flesh: Still no time, drinking.] [Flesh: Not deliberately playing you.] [[Image]] [Flesh: Since you just changed class not long ago, I’ll log on and gift you an ‘Angel.’ Consider it accompanying you in the Arena.]
It just so happened that “Jing’s” account was full of Swordsman equipment that Medics couldn’t use, and Xie Jingchu had forgotten to prepare a new set.
Shen Guanchao opened the game client and swiftly logged into his main account. When the progress bar loaded to the end, the little fox fairy just happened to teleport over, descending from the sky again.
He reacted nimbly with a retreat, dodging “Jing.”
The little fox fairy failed to throw himself into his arms for the second time and fell to the ground.
Xie Jingchu climbed up and looked expressionlessly at the mecha man in front of him: “…”
[Player “NAVA·Flesh” initiated a “Gift” invitation to you] [Please choose “Accept” or “Reject”]
Xie Jingchu pressed the reject button in a fit of pique.
[Player “Jing” rejected your invitation.]
??
Shen Guanchao typed in confusion, “What’s wrong?”
[[Private Chat] “Jing”: A gentleman does not accept food handed out in contempt!] [[Private Chat] “Jing”: Take it back!]
Shen Guanchao wanted to laugh: [NAVA·Flesh: Changing faces so fast?]
The little fox fairy hugged his arms aggrievedly and made a “Hate” gesture at him: [You didn’t catch me just now.]
“We’ll see.” Shen Guanchao didn’t coax him. He dropped a set of golden high-attribute [Angel Nine Wings] equipment for him and hurriedly went offline.
The full set of [Angel Nine Wings] was the must-have PVP iron trio for top medic players. The drop rate was extremely low, and the price on the free market remained high.
The set Shen Guanchao gave Xie Jingchu was already fitted with twenty-fourth-tier purple accessories, worth thousands of Alliance Credit Points. It was originally prepared for Zoe.
Ever since Xie Jingchu hooked up with Shen Guanchao, the biggest victim became Zoe. Not only did he lose the badass captain to carry him up the ranks, but he also lost the fragrant gold-tier equipment.
“F*ck…” Mu Xinyue, standing by the side, looked at the [Angel Nine Wings] on Xie Jingchu’s phone, his eyes straightening. “Your idol gives out thousands of bucks just like that. Two rich brothers are indeed a match made in heaven.”
“His signing fee this year was tens of millions or something. If you two get together, wouldn’t I not have to worry about food and drink? At the very least, your male god holds a few hundred million in his hands.”
“And I heard your male god’s family background isn’t ordinary either. You’ll be marrying in to be a wealthy young grandmother in the future, brother.”
“Scram…” Xie Jingchu pushed his head away in disgust. He added an item lock to the “Angel Wings” and put on the new equipment. The character image in the game instantly became glittering gold.
The enchanting and affectionate little fox fairy was plated with a layer of holy light. Pure white wings slowly unfolded, half fairy half demon, becoming a bit sluttier.
He looked a few more times at the new equipment on him. This thing had god-tier attributes and maxed-out accessories; it could easily sell for a sky-high price. It was a big gift, but for Shen Guanchao, perhaps it was just a small gadget he could give away casually.
“What should I give in return?” Xie Jingchu asked.
He didn’t intend to take people’s things for free and consulted the strategist.
Mu Xinyue: “Give your pure and hot body in return.”
Xie Jingchu: “…”
“Scram to your sister.”
With the new equipment, Mu Xinyue and Xie Jingchu won all night in the Arena. In the last game, their hidden MMR was too high, and they matched against NAVA people.
It was Zoe and Lu Wuxu.
Lu Wuxu didn’t like drinking much. He sat quietly next to Shen Guanchao playing games while listening to the old players in the private room tell little stories of the esports circle from over the years.
When the game was loading, he recognized the familiar ID “Jing” on the opposite side. Was it that little fan pestering Shen Guanchao recently?
The little fox fairy leisurely followed behind Mu Xinyue’s game character “Crimson.” Four minutes into the game, they ran head-on into Zoe and Lu Wuxu.
“Opposite is a dual-pro comp, play cautiously,” Xie Jingchu said.
Mu Xinyue: “Understood.”
Relying on his understanding of the sniper class and the game map, Xie Jingchu quietly flanked around to dismantle all the traps and observer eyes Lu Wuxu placed, while carefully avoiding the poison serums Zoe hid near these things.
Mu Xinyue’s awareness and mechanics couldn’t compare to pro players. Fighting alone had a high probability of failure. He sounded the signal, called other teammates, and planned a 4v2 building rush.
The sniper fired cold shots from a distance. The sub-attacker with the most health rushed up first, followed closely by Mu Xinyue, catching Zoe and Lu Wuxu off guard.
Xie Jingchu took advantage of their exchange of fire to break through the window from the rear, stabbing a dagger into Lu Wuxu’s back, and throwing down a serum diffuser with his left hand, causing large-area poison damage.
But with the top-tier medic Zoe in the team, Lu Wuxu’s health bar remained in a safe range, and he even counter-killed the sub-attacker next to Mu Xinyue.
Fortunately, his own sniper fired several cold shots from a distance and took out Zoe. Losing the medic, Lu Wuxu deliberately downed Xie Jingchu before dying, pulling off a two-for-two exchange. Not a loss.
Facing the encirclement of a main attacker and a sub-attacker, plus a violence-type medic sneak-attacking through the window, Lu Wuxu, clinging to his last breath, could still pull off such god-tier operations. This was exactly why Shen Guanchao had picked him out at a glance in the secondary league back then.
A quick-handed and sharp-eyed sniper can shine anywhere, becoming that red beacon fire on the arena.
Pity that in his life of a hundred hits out of a hundred shots, the only shot he missed deviated from Shen Guanchao’s heart.
