Chapter 31: I Have an Endocrine Disorder and Never Go into Heat
Eight out of ten sentences discussed by the Alphas were related to Shou Jiaxun. Although they didn’t reach the level of filth, they were certainly enough to make the person involved very uncomfortable.
For instance, Yong Ming had just complained about his companion having a “loose tongue” and explicitly stated he didn’t want to discuss Shou Jiaxun.
But less than two minutes later, he was singled out and teased alongside Shou Jiaxun.
—”I just don’t get it. Do you guys think Shou Jiaxun is really thirty? Someone like Yong Ming looks thirty and established, but put him next to Shou Jiaxun, who dares to say they are peers?”
—”That’s different. Omegas are nourished by someone. President Ming is a rough Alpha; who nourishes him?”
Yong Ming: “Get lost. Can you speak human language?”
—”Hey, hey, don’t get anxious, just joking. Besides, I haven’t heard of Shou Jiaxun having a boyfriend. I think he’s just a genuine workaholic, very ascetic.”
—”No, no, no. Just because you haven’t seen it doesn’t mean it doesn’t exist. There is no causal relationship between being a workaholic and being ascetic. Besides, do you think it takes time for him to get a boyfriend? He just needs to crook his finger.”
—”He doesn’t even need to crook a finger; hooking with his eyes is enough. Didn’t you see him smile at White today? White immediately gave him the green light and let him speak first.”
—”Mmhmm, I think President Shou was still conservative. He should have asked White to open a special session for him. I think White would have nodded, really.”
—”Right, right. White would definitely say: ‘Okay, come to my office to open it.'”
—”Hey, you’re also being conservative. White should say: ‘No problem, come to my house to open it.'”
Shou Jiaxun suddenly leaned forward, reaching out to press down on Assistant Liang’s fist: “Calm down, eat first.”
Liang Bo’s face was iron-green: “I’m not hungry. It won’t affect my performance.”
“What performance?” Shou Jiaxun stood up directly and switched to sit on the sofa on Liang Bo’s side.
They were originally facing each other, each on a sofa chair, with the aisle on the outside and a partition wall on the inside.
Shou Jiaxun squeezed his assistant inward, blocking the outer side himself so Liang Bo couldn’t move even if he wanted to.
“Heard of freedom of speech? It’s not illegal for people to chat. We eat ours.” Shou Jiaxun poured wine for himself: “At least finish the lobster, otherwise it’s a big loss.”
Liang Bo looked sideways at his young boss, refuting in a low voice: “They aren’t chatting; that’s fantasizing, that’s sexual harassment. Don’t worry, I studied Wing Chun under Ip Man, professional one-vs-ten; I’ll make the move, you call the police. We can’t spoil them.”
Shou Jiaxun scoffed: “Ip Man? The one in the movie?”
Assistant Liang looked indignant: “Doesn’t matter which one, as long as it works.”
Shou Jiaxun pursed his lips: “Did you record it? Even if you did, they didn’t say it to my face. If the police come and you lose the fight, that’s one thing; if you win, they’ll charge you with picking quarrels and provoking trouble, or at best, mediation.
…Sigh, forget it. Don’t waste time.”
President Shou was experienced in this area. He turned his head to glance at the righteous Assistant Liang, frowning and sighing: “How about we stop eating and change places?”
Liang Bo lowered his head dully: “Then I’ll ask the waiter to pack the lobster.” Then he pursed his lips and smiled sheepishly, using pitiful eyes to beg for personal freedom.
Shou Jiaxun then turned sideways to make room, letting his assistant leave the table.
As a result, the second Liang Bo left his seat, he grabbed a glass wine bottle and strode towards the small private room next door with distinct strides.
President Shou instinctively reached out to grab the hem of his clothes, but Liang Bo moved too fast, and he missed.
He hurriedly got up to chase.
The distance between the two tables was only three to five steps in total. In the blink of an eye, the two stood at the door of the small private room.
But before Liang Bo could swing the wine bottle, someone inside the box had already made a move.
—”Told you to shut up! Can’t you understand human language?”
Yong Ming went into a drunken rage unexpectedly, suddenly raising his goblet and splashing red wine all over his tablemate Alpha’s face.
The splashed Alpha jumped up on the spot, also grabbing a wine glass to splash Yong Ming: “Are you f*cking sick?!”
Director Yong’s face was ferocious like a mad dog as he lifted a dinner plate and lunged at the person: “Told you to have a cheap mouth!”
The people at their table hurriedly scrambled to pull them apart and mediate.
At this moment, someone suddenly glimpsed Shou Jiaxun standing at the door with a deep frown and immediately shouted to remind his companions: “President Shou, what a coincidence! Someone just said they wanted to call you to get together.”
Yong Ming turned back in surprise, and the “Gossip King” he had beaten also fell silent abruptly.
Of the dozen people in the room, only two or three could still mobilize their EQ at this moment, smiling awkwardly and waving to greet Shou Jiaxun.
Actually, everyone here was an acquaintance, a room full of peers from Beijing.
Although Shou Jiaxun didn’t have much interaction with these people, they weren’t strangers.
President Shou forced his lips into a line, pulled the corner of his mouth, stood in place, fished his ID from his pocket, and held it out flat for everyone to see: “Indeed thirty-something.”
He retracted the ID and continued to dispel rumors about himself: “Single, workaholic, only know how to write PPTs.
Don’t know White.
Interested in making money, not interested in Alphas.
Endocrine disorder, wear tape all year round, never go into ‘heat’.”
As he spoke, he turned sideways to introduce Liang Bo to everyone: “My new assistant is a Beta, no workplace unspoken rules.
Everyone, curiosity is normal. If you want to know anything, ask me directly. I have no privacy, ask and I’ll answer.”
The group of Alphas in the room smiled awkwardly: “Sorry, President Shou. Everyone drank too much and talked nonsense just now, don’t take it to heart.
…Look, we almost started fighting. We have no malicious intent, purely alcohol causing trouble.”
Shou Jiaxun smiled and nodded, his smile seemingly deeper this time: “Understood, clear. Then you guys continue, I’ll go first.”
He turned and snatched the wine bottle from Liang Bo’s hand: “You go pack the lobster. Don’t want the wine anymore; drinking too much causes trouble.”
“Okay.” Liang Bo nodded obediently, but after turning and walking two steps with Shou Jiaxun, he looked back and swept a glance into the private room. His face was like an iceberg and his eyes were cold; he didn’t look like a good person.
The Alphas in the room felt their hair stand on end from his glare. It took half a day before someone spoke up to smooth things over and continue the topic: “Why does that Assistant Liang look a bit familiar? Do you guys have an impression?”
His companion smiled awkwardly: “What kind of talk is that? If he looks familiar to you, you have to think about it yourself! How could we have an impression?”
The topic leader from earlier frowned and pondered for a moment, then asked: “Have you seen Liang Guorui’s grandson? I remember that kid was quite tall from a young age.”
—”I haven’t even seen Liang Guorui, where would I see his grandson?”
—”Liang Guorui’s grandson would work for someone else?”
—”Wait, how old are Liang Guorui’s two sons? Could they produce such a big grandson?”
The topic leader waved his hand, patiently explaining to everyone: “Before Liang Guorui’s current two sons, there was a short-lived eldest son who died in his early thirties.
That short-lived son’s son should be about this big.”
His companion pursued: “You’ve seen him?”
“Mmhmm.” The gossip-monger nodded: “When I first started working, ‘Fanrong Technology’s’ new headquarters was completed. Our boss was invited to visit, and my department supervisor and I went along.
When visiting the CEO’s office area on the top floor, we bumped into a kid playing inside by himself.
Looking at his face then, he was about ten years old… but his height was already similar to an adult.
The kid was wearing a mourning band on his arm. I heard people whispering nearby, saying he was the son of Liang Guorui’s recently deceased eldest son, the eldest grandson of Old President Liang.
Liang Guorui’s short-lived eldest son was more than ten years older than the two younger brothers who followed. He was truly Liang Guorui’s right-hand man in building the business and the undisputed Crown Prince of ‘Fanrong’.
But just as their new headquarters was completed, this Crown Prince passed away from a heart attack.
When chatting with us, the boss guessed casually that he might have died from overwork… anyway, quite a pity.
I have a friend working at ‘Fanrong’ headquarters. He said it seems because of this matter, Liang Guorui rarely goes to the new headquarters to work. He probably can’t let go of the eldest in his heart and is afraid of being hurt by the scenery.”
—”That’s even more impossible! The old man can’t let go of his son, yet he’d throw his grandson out to fend for himself?”
—”Maybe he was thrown out specifically for training?”
—”Nonsense. With so many branches and subsidiaries in ‘Fanrong’, where couldn’t he train? Did he have to come out and slave away for an outsider?
If you told me he came for Shou Jiaxun, wanting to take advantage of his position to secure this endocrine-disordered Omega, I’d find that reason slightly more sufficient.”
—”Eh? Why do you guys think President Shou has an endocrine disorder at such a young age?”
—”Nonsense, of course because there’s no Alpha to tune him.”
Yong Ming, who had already sat down, suddenly stood up again. His movement was so big that he knocked over the chair he was sitting on, causing a loud clang.
“Sigh, stop mentioning him…” someone reminded in a low voice.
Yong Ming’s face was iron-green. He expressionlessly kicked away a food cart, striding out of the small private room.
It looked like he was going to cut ties with this group of peers.
As soon as he left, someone immediately asked in a low voice: “What’s the situation with Yong Ming? Is he very close with Shou Jiaxun?”
Someone chuckled awkwardly: “Impossible to be close. He lost bids twice; probably has psychological trauma.”
Director Yong left the restaurant with swift steps, but screeched to a halt by the roadside at the entrance, looking left and right, searching everywhere. His expression was so helpless, like a stray dog who had lost its owner.
Unfortunately, two minutes passed and he found nothing. In the end, he raised his hand dejectedly to hail a taxi, got in, and sped away.
While the meter on Yong Ming’s side had just started, Shou Jiaxun and his Assistant Liang walked out of the home goods store next to the restaurant carrying a stack of takeout boxes.
President Shou nodded at Liang Bo’s hand with his chin: “Why did you suddenly want to buy thermos cups?”
“Just thought they looked nice…” Student Liang had a pure and blank expression, lifting the shopping bag in his hand to shake it twice: “This one is for my dad, this one is for you.”
President Shou raised his eyebrows, making a huge surprised expression: “Is my status in your heart already this high? …Ouch, truly didn’t expect happiness to come so suddenly.
Then, out of respect, I’ll accept it, haha!”
The two walked shoulder to shoulder toward where the business car was parked. Liang Bo bent down slightly, bringing his face close to Shou Jiaxun, and questioned in a deep voice: “In your brain, are you thinking about some foul things?”
President Shou denied flatly: “No, I didn’t think anything.”
Liang Bo straightened his back and snorted coldly: “Definitely thought it.”
Shou Jiaxun laughed loudly, defending himself in a high voice: “I really didn’t think about making you call me ‘Daddy’! I am absolutely not such a boring person.”
“Oh? Hehe.” Assistant Liang sneered, clearly not believing him.
President Shou had a mischievous expression but denied firmly: “Really didn’t, believe it or not.”
[Author’s Note]: Guo Duoyu: “Don’t believe him, he is exactly such a boring person.”
