Streaming Earth Cuisine In The Interstellar to Raise Star Cubs chapter 50.3

Part 3

Until the heavy burden made Ning Yunyi silently put the Big Cat down.

The Big Cat still slept deeply, but unlike the uncomfortable, unconscious state from the medicine earlier, his furrowed brows relaxed. His whole body stretched out peacefully, big tail drooping to the side, looking much fluffier.

Ning Yunyi watched strangely. The anger from realizing this was a “liar cat” inexplicably dissipated.

After all, his original intention in raising the Big Cat was, firstly, that the other party was fluffy, which he couldn’t refuse; and secondly, to find a guardian for the kitten cub.

But the Big Cat being a liar was true. A half-beast pretending to be an exotic beast—did he have no cat shame?

The kitten cub’s eyes widened. “Father, Cat-Cat changed back! Father is so amazing!”

Ning Yunyi enjoyed the little guy’s admiration very much, patting his little head. “Big Cat is cured. He’ll wake up tomorrow when the medicine wears off. It’s late, go to sleep.”

But the kitten cub looked at the Big Cat, then at his father. “Father, can I become as—big as Cat-Cat too?”

Then I would definitely be super majestic and domineering. Grandpapa and Uncle would be super surprised!

Ning Yunyi looked at the little guy. “When you grow up… you should be able to learn.”

Since there was the exception of the Big Cat, it wasn’t impossible.

Coax the little guy for now. When he grows up, maybe his ideas will change.

And Cub, are you sure your Grandpapa and Uncle seeing a three-year-old giant cat, sturdier than them and capable of kicking a rattan ball into the sky, would be a surprise?

I’m afraid there would be no joy, only shock.

Ning Yunyi was truly sleepy. He had consumed a lot of spiritual power tonight and fought a battle; he was exhausted.

But lying down holding the cub who had turned back into a little milk cat, he turned his head to look at the deeply sleeping Big Cat, staring for a while.

Especially thinking that he had treated the other party as an exotic beast, when the result was someone who could turn into a human.

Most importantly, when he was drunk before, he had slept holding the other party for a whole night.

Of course, the premise was that he had dragged the other party up, but hadn’t he lain there last night too?

Ning Yunyi was really tired, and thinking this, he soon fell asleep.

On the other side, Zong Hao woke up with a start in the latter half of the night as the medicine wore off. He opened his beast eyes, feeling cold all over, with the illusion that the back of his neck was being gripped.

He didn’t remember clearly, only recalling that he had obediently lain there guarding the kitten cub as Ning Yunyi instructed.

He didn’t know how long passed before he unconsciously fell into a coma, and he knew nothing of what followed.

But he felt he had a nightmare. In the dream, his spiritual power overflowed, unable to maintain his current size, and he suddenly shrank, becoming not much bigger than the kitten cub’s beast form.

Not only did the kitten cub know, but Ning Yunyi knew too.

He lay there with his eyes open, unable to sleep anymore, unsure if he was dreaming or if it was real.

Until the sky began to brighten, Ning Yunyi’s wristband lit up.

Ning Yunyi woke up almost simultaneously. Opening his eyes, he blocked the light of the wristband so as not to wake the kitten cub, then got out of bed silently.

Then… he looked down and met a pair of beast eyes gleaming in the dark, staring right at him.

The anger Ning Yunyi had before sleeping returned. He got out of bed, and when passing by the Big Cat’s paws, he “accidentally” stepped on one.

The Big Cat stifled a groan and looked up blankly.

Ning Yunyi mouthed silently: “My bad.”

But that expression didn’t look unintentional at all; it was definitely on purpose.

Realizing something, Zong Hao’s fur stood on end: He… knows?

Ning Yunyi couldn’t be bothered to look at the Big Cat again and walked straight out.

Zong Hao hung his head guiltily, tail drooping, and followed Ning Yunyi out step by step.

He couldn’t remember last night’s events, but he had a premonition that what he thought was a dream wasn’t—he really had spiritual power overflow causing unstable beast form.

The only fortunate thing was that his identity as Zong Hao shouldn’t have been exposed. Otherwise, Ning Yunyi would probably have contacted Ichi to throw him out of the Ning house by now.

Zong Hao’s mood was complicated, his mind in a mess for a moment.

But how could he explain that he was Zong Hao? He had done so many stupid things and lost face so many times in front of Ning Yunyi.

Most importantly, if Ning Yunyi knew he was Zong Hao, he would absolutely not let him stay in the Ning house anymore.

Thinking of this possibility, Zong Hao felt his whole head buzzing and hurting, feeling very uncomfortable.

Because he was walking with his head down following the footsteps, when Ning Yunyi stopped, his big head bumped into Ning Yunyi’s leg.

He looked up and subconsciously wrapped his tail around it, looking like he was obediently waiting to be petted.

The corner of Ning Yunyi’s mouth twitched. “No matter how cute you act, it can’t hide the fact that you are a half-beast capable of turning into a human.”

Zong Hao hung his head, his claws gently hooking the corner of Ning Yunyi’s clothes.

Ning Yunyi, however, stepped into the study and cruelly… left him outside the door.

He had business now. He would settle accounts with him properly after resolving Mother Ning’s matter.

Ning Yunyi entered the study and opened his wristband. Sure enough, it was a message from Yuth.

[Yuth: Can’t find more news. Since Madam Ning entered the palace a few months ago, very few people have seen her. However, there is one good news and one bad news. Which one do you want to hear?]

[Bai Yanyu: Bad news.]

[Yuth: For months, even the Crown Prince hasn’t been able to see her, let alone an outsider entering the palace to see her. However, I heard the palace has approved Professor Ning to enter in three days. Waiting until then is actually the best option currently.]

[Bai Yanyu: Can’t wait. Good news?]

[Yuth: The current Empress is not from the Herman family. She keeps a low profile and is just a commoner with no family backing. It took a lot of effort for her and His Majesty to come together back then. The late Emperor had three Empresses successively. The first was the biological mother of the current Emperor. After she passed away, the late Emperor married a second Empress, who gave birth to a son and a daughter. This son is Madam Ning’s biological father. The second Empress also passed away quickly, and the late Emperor married a third. The third Empress of the late Emperor, who is still alive today, is from the Herman family and is considered my Great-Aunt. She left no offspring and rarely shows her face. The good news is, it is said that after entering the palace, Madam Ning has been staying in her palace.]

The reason Yuth explained in such detail was also out of worry that Mr. Bai, being new to the Capital Star, didn’t understand these past events and might offend this Great-Aunt—who was from the Herman family but had a bad temper—when entering the palace.

After all, coming from the Herman family, the late Emperor had no affection for her; it was purely a political marriage.

If it were him, his temper would be even worse than his Great-Aunt’s.

Ning Yunyi was indeed surprised to read this. He really didn’t know these old stories.

Father and Mother Ning rarely mentioned Mother Ning’s affairs in the palace. Although she was from the Royal Family and His Majesty’s niece, their relationship was bad.

As for how bad, it was never mentioned. Now it seemed that as the child of a half-brother born to a different mother, the relationship indeed wouldn’t be very close.

Not to mention that Mother Ning’s biological father—the original host’s maternal grandfather—might have fought for the throne with His Majesty.

Since Mother Ning never mentioned this grandfather, it was likely he lost back then and wasn’t in the Capital Star.

[Bai Yanyu: You want to take me into the palace under the pretext of visiting your Great-Aunt, to see if we can encounter Madam Ning in the palace?]

[Yuth: That’s the idea, but we need a reason. I haven’t entered the palace to pay respects to this Great-Aunt. Going suddenly would easily arouse suspicion.]

[Bai Yanyu: Understood. We need a valid reason. Do you think the excuse of ‘Nourishing Health Soup’ beneficial for the elderly’s longevity and sleep would work? You can just say you discovered a soup stewed with an ancient Blue Star secret method and wanted to present it to Great-Aunt.]

[Yuth: … Do you really have it, or is it just an excuse?]

If it were anyone else, Yuth would definitely think it was an excuse, a fake.

But thinking of Mr. Bai’s skewers and braised meat that just exploded in popularity in the Fourth Underground City, he suddenly wasn’t sure.

[Bai Yanyu: Naturally, it’s real. I won’t make things difficult for the Young Master.]

[Yuth: Not necessary. You saved me. Even if you don’t have it, I’ll cover for you. Great-Aunt comes from the same lineage as me; even if she notices something wrong, she won’t really say much.]
