Chapter 105
Feng Xing arrived after dinner. He looked around and asked, “President Shen isn’t here, right?”
Shen Shuyu shook his head. “No. And even if my brother was here, why are you afraid? He doesn’t eat people.”
Feng Xing entered. Shen Shuyu had a point, and President Shen was usually pleasant enough to him in private, but seeing him still made Feng Xing nervous.
Shen Shuyu had asked the kitchen to prepare pastries. He asked, “Tell me, how did Chi Yanxun agree?”
Feng Xing said, “Let me drink some water first.”
After gulping down a glass of warm water, he explained slowly, “I don’t know either. Just after you left this afternoon, he came to find me. He didn’t say why, just that he wanted to join the rehearsal and asked me to assign him a role.”
Chi Yanxun sought out Feng Xing?
Shen Shuyu thought carefully. It was probably the plot force at work, but he’d have to wait until he saw Chi Yanxun to know for sure.
Feng Xing pulled the latest script from his bag. “I had someone write a new script. Take a look.”
Shen Shuyu took it. It wasn’t the messy Snow White Omega or Sleeping Beauty O anymore. It was a story about an Alpha Prince overcoming difficulties to defeat an Evil Dragon and save the Omega. Although still a fairy tale, this story was much better.
Shen Shuyu breathed a sigh of relief. This was likely the final script from the novel.
Feng Xing saw his relief and thought he was still hung up on Snow White Omega. He explained, “Shuyu, I just hadn’t found a suitable script back then. Look, as soon as I found a good one, I changed it.”
Shen Shuyu placed the script on the coffee table. “Have you cast the roles?”
Feng Xing said, “That’s why I’m here. I’m letting you pick first.”
Feng Xing added, “Am I a good bro or what?”
He opened the script to the first page, which listed the characters. There were quite a few: four main characters and three supporting ones. Shen Shuyu picked a villainous supporting role.
Feng Xing glanced at it. “I’m letting you pick from the main characters. I already cast the supporting ones.”
Shen Shuyu looked. The main characters were the Prince, the Evil Dragon, the Knight, and… the Omega Princess.
Shen Shuyu took a deep breath. “Do I have any other choice?”
Feng Xing laughed twice, then seeing Shen Shuyu’s speechless expression, he sobered up. “Come on, the Princess is fine. Princess Yu.”
“Can’t it be the Prince?” Shen Shuyu didn’t understand. It was the interstellar era; why play Princess? “If you want a Princess, go find a Princess. Doesn’t our department have female Alphas?”
Feng Xing remembered those female Alphas. Although physically female, in this world, the ABO gender ranked higher.
He took a deep breath. “Then we might have to hold my funeral before the anniversary.”
“Besides, ‘Princess’ and ‘Prince’ are just titles. In previous years, the prize money for first place was this much.” Feng Xing gestured a number.
“That much?” Shen Shuyu was shocked. “Two thousand?”
“Twenty thousand per person,” Feng Xing said. “This way, our good friend Wen Jiafei can get a huge sum too.”
Twenty thousand per person?!
Shen Shuyu barely recognized the currency anymore. The school reward for the Survival War was eighty thousand per person. A school anniversary could give twenty thousand?
He finally understood how Feng Xing convinced the Protagonist Shou and the Villain Boss. With money on the table, it was hard not to be moved.
Feng Xing said, “So, I’ve thought about it carefully. To get first place, you four must be the leads!”
Honestly, Shen Shuyu was tempted.
He said, “You can look at it from another angle.”
Feng Xing looked confused. Shen Shuyu persuaded him, “Me playing the Princess is too ordinary. Do you know what I’d really like to do?”
“What?”
Shen Shuyu pointed at the Evil Dragon. He lowered his voice, whispering like a devil, “I’ll play the Evil Dragon and beat them all up.”
Feng Xing looked at Shen Shuyu expressionlessly. Shen Shuyu raised an eyebrow. “Don’t believe me?”
“Haha!” Feng Xing gave a dry laugh. “Let’s talk about something else.”
Shen Shuyu: …Boring.
Feng Xing stayed for nearly two hours before leaving. Shen Shuyu saw him out and was about to go upstairs to rest when he heard a car stopping outside. Shen Yisi was back.
He decided not to go up and turned back to wait for Shen Yisi.
Shen Yisi entered quickly, accompanied by Yue Cheng. Both smelled of alcohol, and Shen Yisi’s steps were a bit light.
Shen Shuyu hurried over to help support Shen Yisi. He looked at Yue Cheng in confusion. “Why did my brother drink so much?”
They helped Shen Yisi to the sofa. Yue Cheng stretched his neck. “He rarely has the next two days off, so he drank a few extra cups tonight. But it’s fine; I already gave him a sobering pill.”
As Yue Cheng spoke, his gaze rested on Shen Shuyu’s face. Shen Shuyu was focused on Shen Yisi and didn’t notice.
Shen Yisi sank into the sofa. Yue Cheng snapped out of it. “Alright, I’ve delivered him. I’m leaving.”
Shen Shuyu said, “It’s so late. Why not stay? I’ll have them prepare a guest room.”
Yue Cheng waved his hand. “No need. I have an early meeting at the hospital tomorrow. You guys live too far away; I’d have to wake up way too early. Shuyu, trust your brother: once you become a working stiff, waking up early is impossible.”
Shen Shuyu understood, so he didn’t insist.
Yue Cheng left immediately. Only Shen Yisi and Shen Shuyu remained in the living room.
Hangover soup was already cooking in the kitchen. Shen Shuyu looked at the brooch on Shen Yisi’s chest. It was the one he gave him.
Shen Shuyu felt warm inside. Since he gave it to him, Shen Yisi seemed to wear it every time he went out. He really liked it.
Actually, he knew Shen Yisi didn’t love the brooch itself—he had plenty of better accessories. He wore it simply because his little brother gave it to him.
Shen Shuyu reached out to remove the brooch for him. But just as his fingers were about to touch it, his wrist was grabbed. He jumped, looking at Shen Yisi’s face. Shen Yisi had opened his eyes at some point.
Right now, Shen Yisi was frowning, his eyes sharp and staring at him, radiating a dangerous aura.
Shen Shuyu’s wrist hurt from the grip. He called out tentatively, “Brother?”
Hearing “Brother,” Shen Yisi seemed to regain clarity for a moment, but he didn’t let go. Instead, he pulled Shen Shuyu’s hand down to his side.
caught off guard, Shen Shuyu stumbled onto him. “Brother! Brother! Wake up!”
Shen Yisi was unmoved. His other hand landed on Shen Shuyu’s back, patting him gently… as if coaxing him.
If Shen Shuyu were a child, he would understand. But he was an adult now. This was a bit weird.
Shen Shuyu struggled to get up. “Brother, you’re hurting my hand.”
As soon as he said that, Shen Yisi let go, though he didn’t open his eyes.
Shen Shuyu quickly straightened up. He let out a long breath, looking at the drunken Shen Yisi. He pursed his lips and muttered, “Where did you and Brother Yue Cheng go? Drinking this much?”
He had never seen Shen Yisi lose composure like this. In his memory, Shen Yisi was always gentle and broad-shouldered with him. Even when he drank too much last time, he was gentle.
Shen Shuyu didn’t really believe Yue Cheng’s explanation. He felt there might be another reason, but Yue Cheng wouldn’t say.
The housekeeper brought the hangover soup. Once it cooled enough, Shen Shuyu shook Shen Yisi awake again.
Shen Yisi opened his eyes. The sharpness was gone, replaced by confusion.
Shen Shuyu smiled. “Brother, drink some soup.”
He handed over the bowl. Shen Yisi looked at him, then at the soup, and drank it in one go.
Shen Shuyu was about to ask if he wanted more when Shen Yisi said hoarsely, “Little Yu.”
“Hm?” Shen Shuyu turned to look at him. The next second, he was pulled into an embrace smelling of alcohol and pine.
