You Claimed You Didn’t Love Me, So Why Cry Now That I’m Engaged? Chapter 128

Chapter 128: It Must Be a Nightmare

“No!”

Gu Huaiye screamed, snapping his eyes open.

He gasped for air heavily, his clothes already soaked in sweat, his face completely drained of blood.

“Young Master, what’s wrong?” Lu Zishi, sitting in the driver’s seat, turned around, looking at him with concern. “Did you have a nightmare?”

Gu Huaiye’s consciousness hadn’t fully returned. He stared at Lu Zishi with bewildered eyes.

After a long while, he whispered, “Lu Zishi?”

Lu Zishi responded, then said, “Young Master, are you feeling unwell? You’re sweating so much. Should we go back? You look so pale.”

Gu Huaiye frowned tightly. “Why are you here?”

Lu Zishi looked stunned, then laughed helplessly. “Young Master, are you still asleep? I’m driving you to report to the university.”

“University reporting?”

Gu Huaiye immediately looked around. Only then did he realize he was sitting in a car, and outside the window was the gate of his university.

He stared blankly at the car window. After a long moment, he slapped himself hard across the face.

It hurt.

Gu Huaiye still didn’t dare believe it, so he slapped himself hard again.

Consequently, both of his cheeks swelled up.

Lu Zishi was frightened by his actions. He hurriedly unbuckled his seatbelt, leaned over, and grabbed Gu Huaiye’s arm.

“Young Master, why are you slapping yourself? Don’t hit yourself. If you’re feeling sick anywhere, let’s go to the hospital right now.”

Lu Zishi was terrified. If President Gu saw the Young Master’s face swollen like this, he would have a hard time explaining it.

But in the next second, Gu Huaiye actually laughed out loud.

He laughed until tears squeezed out of the corners of his eyes, his laughter unceasing.

Lu Zishi: “……”

It’s over. His Young Master has gone mad.

Could it be that he didn’t want to come to school but couldn’t defy Father Gu, so he was driven crazy?

“Young Master, please don’t be like this. I’m scared.”

Gu Huaiye stopped laughing, but the corners of his mouth couldn’t help curving upward.

He didn’t expect to have a chance at rebirth.

After Gu Huaiye died, it was as if he was trapped in that world, staying by Xie Miaohan’s side as a ghost.

Watching Xie Miaohan ruin his own face while being powerless to stop it, his heart ached so much he wanted to kill himself again.

Gu Huaiye thought his quiet departure would allow Xie Miaohan to let him go and start a new life.

But he didn’t know this would drive Xie Miaohan to another extreme.

If he had known Xie Miaohan still wouldn’t be able to live on, he would have rather used his remaining time to be with him properly.

That way, there would be no regrets between them.

Xie Miaohan wouldn’t carry misunderstandings, unable to rest in peace even at the very end.

“Young Master, let’s go back now.” Lu Zishi fastened his seatbelt again.

“Go back for what?” Gu Huaiye unbuckled his seatbelt and opened the rear door. “Help me get my luggage.”

Gu Huaiye’s face wore a look of excitement and nervousness.

He didn’t know if Xie Miaohan in this life had memories.

Did he have them all, only the memories of the previous two lives, or none at all?

No matter which it was, he would love him with all his might.

He would never let go of Xie Miaohan’s hand again.

His past self had truly been wrong, always running away from his own heart, presumptuously arranging his and Xie Miaohan’s lives.

He wanted to love Xie Miaohan properly, no longer agonizing over the issue of pheromones.

So what if he was an Alpha?

He loved Xie Miaohan the person, regardless of any attributes.

Gu Huaiye opened the car door and walked toward the school gate.

But halfway there, his footsteps halted.

Xie Miaohan was not in the crowd.

Gu Huaiye stared confusedly at the Student Council members welcoming the freshmen. His originally brisk steps gradually slowed down.

His heart inexplicably grew uneasy, as if something terrible was waiting for him.

Why was it different from the previous lives?

Was it because Xie Miaohan had memories and wanted to escape him after being reborn?

Shortly after, several Alphas surrounded Gu Huaiye, hitting on him with ridiculous opening lines.

Gu Huaiye was in no mood to deal with them. He spoke coldly, “I am an Alpha, and I already have a lover.”

This sentence was effective; the people blocking him gradually dispersed.

Gu Huaiye, his breathing heavy, walked up to a few upperclassmen.

His voice couldn’t stop trembling. “Where is Xie Miaohan? Where is he?”

The expressions of the group changed slightly, and they looked at each other.

Gu Huaiye repeated, “Where is Xie Miaohan? I have business with him.”

An Omega standing in the middle spoke up first, “Are you his friend?”

Gu Huaiye pursed his lips, then nodded.

The Omega sighed. “You came too late. Did you not hear the news? Xie Miaohan passed away the day before yesterday.”

Gu Huaiye’s pupils constricted. “What!”

“I don’t know what happened to him suddenly, but he went and jumped into the river alone. When they fished him out, he had already stopped breathing. They say he was bloated from the water, his features unrecognizable.”

“Actually, that river is quite shallow. If he had just stood up… sigh… why couldn’t he think it through?”

Gu Huaiye’s brain buzzed, and his body couldn’t stop shivering.

What were they saying?

How could Xie Miaohan jump into a river?

It must be a nightmare.

He hadn’t been reborn; this was just a nightmare in his dying moments.

Perhaps having opened up the topic, another Alpha couldn’t help but say, “Actually, I can understand him. If this hadn’t happened, none of us would have known Xie Miaohan’s family situation was so terrible. Yesterday, Xie Miaohan’s uncle came making a scene holding his ashes, trying to demand compensation from the school. When he couldn’t get the money, he cursed Xie Miaohan with filthy language.”

“Oh my god, how can such a relative exist?” The Omega said indignantly. “No wonder Xie Miaohan didn’t want to live. Stuck with relatives like that, anyone would find it impossible to go on.”

Gu Huaiye suppressed his agony and gritted his teeth. “Are Xie Miaohan’s ashes with his uncle?”

The group shook their heads simultaneously.

Before Gu Huaiye could ask, one of them pointed to the garbage sorting station not far away.

“His uncle couldn’t get the money, so in a fit of rage, he scattered the ashes there.”

Gu Huaiye snapped his head around, staring in disbelief at the garbage sorting station.

The group didn’t notice Gu Huaiye’s strangeness and continued discussing the topic.

“Some parents heard the news and ran to the school to complain, saying it was too ominous. The sanitation department arranged for a garbage truck to come this morning, and they removed the bins along with the trash.”

They were still chattering, but Gu Huaiye could no longer hear them.

In his mind, an image surfaced of a seven-year-old Xie Miaohan lying over a trash can, digging for food others had left behind.

“You can’t…” Gu Huaiye’s eyes turned crimson as he muttered to himself. “You can’t treat him like this.”

But no matter how unwilling he was to accept it.

He couldn’t change the fact that Xie Miaohan’s ashes, mixed with filth, had disappeared from this world forever.

No!

Don’t punish Miaomiao like this.

Even if it’s a nightmare, don’t do this to him.

Gu Huaiye clutched his chest. Under the immense pain, a sweet metallic taste surged in his throat.

A moment later, he fainted.

Lu Zishi dropped the luggage and rushed up.

“Young Master!”

Author’s Note:

There will be no Xie Miaohan in this life. Those who can’t accept this can skip the chapters. Those who want to see Gu Huaiye suffer are in for a treat.

Xie Miaohan was reborn first. To avoid causing trouble in Gu Huaiye’s life, he chose to leave first.

Later, I will likely write from Miaomiao’s perspective.

It is not a BE (Bad Ending).
