Chapter 128: It Must Be a Nightmare

“No!”

Gu Huaiye screamed, snapping his eyes open.

He gasped for air heavily, his clothes already soaked in sweat, his face completely drained of blood.

“Young Master, what’s wrong?” Lu Zishi, sitting in the driver’s seat, turned around, looking at him with concern. “Did you have a nightmare?”

Gu Huaiye’s consciousness hadn’t fully returned. He stared at Lu Zishi with bewildered eyes.

After a long while, he whispered, “Lu Zishi?”

Lu Zishi responded, then said, “Young Master, are you feeling unwell? You’re sweating so much. Should we go back? You look so pale.”

Gu Huaiye frowned tightly. “Why are you here?”

Lu Zishi looked stunned, then laughed helplessly. “Young Master, are you still asleep? I’m driving you to report to the university.”

“University reporting?”

Gu Huaiye immediately looked around. Only then did he realize he was sitting in a car, and outside the window was the gate of his university.

He stared blankly at the car window. After a long moment, he slapped himself hard across the face.

It hurt.

Gu Huaiye still didn’t dare believe it, so he slapped himself hard again.

Consequently, both of his cheeks swelled up.

Lu Zishi was frightened by his actions. He hurriedly unbuckled his seatbelt, leaned over, and grabbed Gu Huaiye’s arm.

“Young Master, why are you slapping yourself? Don’t hit yourself. If you’re feeling sick anywhere, let’s go to the hospital right now.”

Lu Zishi was terrified. If President Gu saw the Young Master’s face swollen like this, he would have a hard time explaining it.

But in the next second, Gu Huaiye actually laughed out loud.

He laughed until tears squeezed out of the corners of his eyes, his laughter unceasing.

Lu Zishi: “……”

It’s over. His Young Master has gone mad.

An Omega standing in the middle spoke up first, “Are you his friend?”

The Omega sighed. “You came too late. Did you not hear the news? Xie Miaohan passed away the day before yesterday.”

Gu Huaiye’s pupils constricted. “What!”

“I don’t know what happened to him suddenly, but he went and jumped into the river alone. When they fished him out, he had already stopped breathing. They say he was bloated from the water, his features unrecognizable.”

Gu Huaiye snapped his head around, staring in disbelief at the garbage sorting station.

The group didn’t notice Gu Huaiye’s strangeness and continued discussing the topic.

“Some parents heard the news and ran to the school to complain, saying it was too ominous. The sanitation department arranged for a garbage truck to come this morning, and they removed the bins along with the trash.”

They were still chattering, but Gu Huaiye could no longer hear them.

In his mind, an image surfaced of a seven-year-old Xie Miaohan lying over a trash can, digging for food others had left behind.

“You can’t…” Gu Huaiye’s eyes turned crimson as he muttered to himself. “You can’t treat him like this.”

But no matter how unwilling he was to accept it.

He couldn’t change the fact that Xie Miaohan’s ashes, mixed with filth, had disappeared from this world forever.

There will be no Xie Miaohan in this life. Those who can’t accept this can skip the chapters. Those who want to see Gu Huaiye suffer are in for a treat.

Xie Miaohan was reborn first. To avoid causing trouble in Gu Huaiye’s life, he chose to leave first.
