Chapter 129: He Doesn’t Like You

After Gu Huaiye woke up, he locked himself in his room.

He sat on the bed, arms wrapped tightly around his knees, his eyes empty. Having barely eaten for four or five days, his face was deathly pale.

He almost didn’t recognize the person on the bed as his Brother Gu.

He had lost a whole size, dark circles under his eyes were prominent, and his clothes hung loosely on his body as if a gust of wind could knock him over.

Chen Zirui rubbed his eyes, unable to believe that the person before him was his arrogant and flamboyant Brother Gu.

A week ago, they were drinking to celebrate the start of their new university life.

Chen Zirui coughed lightly. It was too stuffy, so he went over and opened all the windows.

“Brother Gu, what exactly happened? Did someone bully you?” Chen Zirui said with a serious expression, “Don’t be afraid. Tell me, and I’ll get the brothers to mess him up.”

Gu Huaiye still didn’t react. Chen Zirui pursed his lips, preparing to get up and go downstairs to get Gu Huaiye some food.

He had to coax him into eating something first.

He was afraid that if Gu Huaiye continued fasting, he would burn a hole in his stomach.

Just as Chen Zirui stood up, a cold hand grabbed his arm.

“I hurt someone.”

Chen Zirui sat back down. “Who did you hurt? Is it serious? If it really comes to it, I’ll go with you to apologize.”

He didn’t expect that as soon as he said this, Gu Huaiye’s eyes instantly turned red, and tears burst forth.

Was it kept that much of a secret?

Was he afraid that if discovered, he’d be blamed for not honoring the engagement with Chen Xialin?

It’s not like he was unreasonable.

If they were truly that much in love, he would definitely give Gu Huaiye his blessings and help persuade Chen Xialin to give up.

Chen Zirui looked at Lu Zishi standing beside Father Gu. “Did you drive Brother Gu to see anyone?”

Lu Zishi looked equally bewildered.

But a moment later, as if recalling something, he said to Chen Zirui, “I remember on the day of registration, the Young Master kept asking about someone’s situation. It seemed to be an upperclassman from your school, someone named Miao-something.”

“At that time, the Young Master fainted. I was in a rush to get him to the hospital, so I didn’t ask too many questions. However, when I was getting the luggage, I heard what they were discussing. They said that upperclassman had committed suicide and passed away.”

Chen Zirui pondered for a moment before saying to Chen Xialin, “Don’t appear in front of him for the time being.”

“Why!” Chen Xialin was indignant.

Chen Zirui used a stern tone with Chen Xialin for the first time. “Just listen to me. Brother Gu is in a very bad state right now; he’s already on a hunger strike. Don’t go there and add frost to the snow.”

“How am I adding frost to the snow?”

Chen Zirui took a deep breath. “You know very well in your heart that he doesn’t like you. If you go there now, you will only bring him a greater burden.”

The other end of the line fell silent. After a long time, a tearful voice cursed, “Brother, I hate you!”
