Part 2
The Jungler subconsciously thought Wen Ran was going to throw the game and that he had to rely on himself to carry. With both hands busy operating, he didn’t have the hand speed to type.
Wen Ran knew some teammates liked to complain. Since this Jungler stopped talking, he didn’t take it to heart.
The opposing Ice Rabbit knew how to play. Wen Ran felt it just from laning against her at the start. Whether it was last-hitting minions or using the passive to deal extra damage, everything was used just right. Gui Wa was a scaling hero; her power spike came slowly with levels, unlike Ice Rabbit who had early-game advantage.
He was watched tightly and had no way to roam for support.
When the first river crab spawned in the mid lane, Wen Ran saw the opposing Jungler show his face and immediately signaled his own Jungler.
But less than thirty seconds after the signal, his own Jungler was killed, giving away First Blood.
[Jungler: Gui Wa, what are you doing?]
[Jungler: Can’t see I’m being invaded? Don’t know to come support?]
Wen Ran still had some patience now and explained to him:
[Gui Wa: Signaled you. Ice Rabbit was zoning, couldn’t get past.]
But he didn’t expect this Jungler to be relentless:
[Jungler: I knew it. People who play this kind of trash hero have low awareness too. How did you get to this rank?]
Wen Ran remembered there was a clause in the contract about watching his language, but registration hadn’t come through yet. Wen Ran typed furiously on the keyboard:
[Gui Wa: Of course, your Daddy climbed up using hands.]
[Gui Wa: Today, you’ve really opened my eyes. No way, no way? Is there really someone who gets solo killed playing Ling in the early game?]
[Gui Wa: Trash but talks a lot. What, do you get ten points of damage for every extra word you say?]
His hand speed was extremely fast. Typing didn’t affect his gameplay at all. He even simultaneously maneuvered his hero to support the bottom lane and got a double kill.
The Jungler was taking the dragon, but ended up letting the enemy take both him and the dragon away.
[Jungler: I’m really convinced. Are you guys blind and can’t see I’m taking dragon?]
[Jungler: Really don’t know what a bunch of people are gathering in the bot lane for.]
[Jungler: Especially the Mid Laner, can’t bear to use the global ult, 6.]
[Gui Wa: ?]
He clearly used his ult just now to catch people.
[Gui Wa: If you don’t understand support and skill cooldowns, why are you still playing games?]
[Gui Wa: Listen to Daddy’s advice. If you’re really bored, go to the jungle and communicate with those two boars. Maybe you’re even related to them.]
[Gui Wa: Save yourself from opening your mouth and letting everyone know you’re an idiot.]
Jungler: “…”
This person was probably a Gatling gun in his past life, otherwise I can’t imagine how he can flame so well.
—
Only ten minutes had passed in the match. Wen Ran could feel that the strongest player was Ice Rabbit. Both hand speed and reaction were fast. His own dumbass Jungler went to gank her three times and ended up dying in the mid lane three times.
Yexin didn’t take this game seriously at all. With his level, it should be a stomp against them. This Jungler was now 0-5 and already useless. He thought he would drive the rhythm a few more times and end the game directly.
But before he could put it into practice, he was camped to death twice in the mid lane by Gui Wa and the Support.
How can they guess where I’m going every time? Is it a coincidence?
Thinking this, Yexin walked to the Blue Zone. Before checking the bush, a targeted skill stunned him directly. Immediately after, Gui Wa’s full combo greeted him. His health bar hit zero, taken away instantly!
He wanted to start a rhythm but had his rhythm taken by the opponent instead.
When the crystal was finally pushed down, Yexin’s score was 6-5-4. Although he was the MVP of the losing side, his rating wasn’t very high.
He hadn’t expected to lose.
In Peak Tournament, IDs were not displayed during the match, only on the settlement screen after it ended.
Therefore, Wen Ran only discovered after the game ended that the opposing Ice Rabbit’s ID was DS.Yexin.
He didn’t think much of it. It wasn’t like he hadn’t beaten Yexin before. But Yexin looked at that familiar “My Mechanics Are Better Than Yours” and realized this was his substitute, the starting Mid Laner for next season’s Autumn Split.
[Eh? This Gui Wa is actually a random?]
[Ah this, but it’s just one game, doesn’t prove anything.]
[He just got lucky, that’s all.]
[Hubby don’t be sad boohoo!]
[Heartache for Hubby.]
[What’s there to have heartache about? Isn’t it just losing face because he was beaten by someone using his signature hero?]
Yexin darkened his face and banned that user, then clicked match, instantly locking in Gui Wa.
[Lingxiao is a team game anyway. Hubby just play well this round.]
[Hubby fighting!]
[Exactly, exactly. Show some haters what a real Gui Wa looks like!]
Wen Ran chose Ninja Spirit this round, a hero that fit the lineup quite standardly.
Anxious to push his rank for a while longer, he didn’t play by conventional routines at all. Instead, he played fiercely and aggressively, not even hesitating to dive towers for kills. He gave the opposing Gui Wa absolutely no chance to farm, and no late game existed.
Coupled with the Jungler’s cooperation, this game could be considered a stomp.
After coming out to the settlement screen, Wen Ran discovered that this Gui Wa was actually Yexin again.
And with a 1-7-2 score.
[What’s wrong with Hubby? Is he feeling unwell and in bad form today?]
[Hubby don’t be sad. You are already very good. Who can keep playing when targeted like that!]
[Good guys, it’s that person again. Crashing into him twice in a row, bad luck!]
[This person is so amazing. Why do I feel we can’t beat him?]
[If you are Yexin’s fan, don’t say this kind of thing, OK?]
[Yexin’s strength is obvious to everyone. Can’t deny him just because of one or two small mistakes.]
[What the hell are you being awesome about here? Isn’t it just winning twice? If he really had that level, why isn’t he playing pro?]
[Can’t say it like that. What if he really is some player who hasn’t been announced yet?]
Yexin didn’t want to see comments saying he was bad, so he simply minimized the window, ignoring the scrolling bullet screen. Feeling irritable, he opened his phone and @’ed Wen Ran in the group chat.
[Come up to the second floor to see me.]
Wen Ran had just finished the game and hadn’t started matching yet.
Maybe there’s something up?
He pushed open the door to the room. “You were looking for me?”
Yexin sat in the chair, looking at him with a cold face.
“The two Peak Tournament matches tonight, did you play them yourself?”
Hearing this, Wen Ran’s expression instantly turned cold. “What do you mean?”
“Literal meaning.” Yexin absolutely didn’t believe he could pull off those mechanics himself. If he were really that amazing, the youth training camps would have fought over him madly when he was sixteen or seventeen. How could it be his turn to come here asking for a job?
And it couldn’t be a booster either. In the League, his own Gui Wa was the absolute god-tier.
With Wen Ran’s background, it was impossible for him to know any amazing pro players.
Then there was only one possibility.
“Tell the truth, did you use cheats?”
Wen Ran: “?”
He didn’t expect Yexin could actually ask such a question.
“I know you really want to show off. A rookie, after all. But you really went a bit too far this time,” Yexin ground his teeth. “Esports speaks through competition results. You think winning against me twice in Peak Tournament means others will acknowledge you?”
Wen Ran wouldn’t indulge him just because he was a so-called “senior.” He retorted directly, “If you can’t afford to lose, you can save the replay and report it. Don’t be sarcastic and disgusting here.”
“You!” Yexin didn’t expect his thoughts to be exposed instantly. He said viciously, “I am teaching you the basics of how to be a person!”
“At any rate, we are on the same team. You admit your mistake and apologize to me, and I won’t pursue it further.”
“I did nothing wrong, why should I apologize?” Wen Ran didn’t know what Yexin’s character was like. When they first met, he only thought the other party was relatively arrogant.
But he didn’t expect he could be such a sore loser.
“Even tofu has brains, how come you don’t?”
Yexin was stunned. “What did you say?”
“I said, with this time used to be disgusting, you might as well play two more rounds of Peak Tournament.”
“After all, the one who lost points twice in a row is you, not me.”
“F*ck, what are you acting all cool for?”
Yexin didn’t expect a rookie with zero background dared to clamor against him like this. “Think being a starter for one season is amazing? You’re just my substitute. Once my penalty time is over—won’t you just be watching the water cooler?”
“Is that so?” Wen Ran sneered. “Then watch and see if I have the ability to press you to death on the bench.”
