Chapter 54: Speaking of Kissing
Huo Chen didn’t think leaving a scar was a big deal.
Girls might love beauty and not want scars, and some boys might not want them either, which is understandable. But he didn’t care. A scar wouldn’t have any impact on him.
But seeing that Lin Huaizhi looked very different from when he drove him out earlier, he was silent for a moment before resuming the previous topic.
“I didn’t say you were ugly.”
Lin Huaizhi was stunned. He let go of Huo Chen’s hand, sounding like he didn’t care. “Ugly or not, I can only look like this anyway.”
Huo Chen didn’t reply immediately but looked at the gauze wrapped around the young man’s right eye.
“The gauze is ugly.”
Seeing the bouquet of roses, Lin Huaizhi’s anger had already dissipated by more than half. Seeing Huo Chen’s wound, only heartache remained. Now hearing this explanation, he looked amazed.
He paused. “So you didn’t dislike me for being ugly, you felt… the gauze wrapping was ugly?”
To be honest, although Huo Chen didn’t understand what liking was, nor did he understand love, he was still hooked by Lin Huaizhi.
Whatever he wanted to say or do, he never needed to look at anyone’s expression, let alone care about the impact on others. The moment Lin Huaizhi shut the door on him, he could have just walked away.
Even with his current status, he didn’t need to look Lin Huaizhi in the eye.
But when Lin Huaizhi called and acted spoiled saying he had a cold, he came with medicine. Lin Huaizhi pushed him out and slammed the door in his face; not only did he not leave, but he also wanted to buy things Lin Huaizhi liked to coax him.
President Wang had stuffed a bunch of people at him; his answer was that he had a boyfriend.
Being able to say this proved he accepted Lin Huaizhi’s pursuit and was willing to develop a romantic relationship with him, but Huo Chen himself felt this was just an excuse for rejection.
Huo Chen was unaware of all this.
Or rather, he was aware, but he was unwilling to dig deeper.
So at this moment, facing Lin Huaizhi’s inquiry, he just looked at Lin Huaizhi’s face, nodded, and spoke what he believed to be the truth. “You are very beautiful. At least among the vast majority of people I have seen, few can compare to you.”
The corners of Lin Huaizhi’s lips curled up slightly. “I’ll take it that you are praising me.”
“No need to ‘take it’; I am indeed praising you.”
Huo Chen didn’t know how to flirt.
He didn’t say this to flirt with Lin Huaizhi, but that didn’t stop Lin Huaizhi’s heartbeat from picking up speed.
“I know a few ophthalmology experts who are quite accomplished. I can recommend them to you.”
Lin Huaizhi suddenly realized that from the injury until now, he hadn’t told Huo Chen where he was hurt. It seemed Zhou Ning had only told Huo Chen about the injury and hadn’t mentioned the details.
So…
“You thought I injured my eye?”
A trace of confusion appeared on Huo Chen’s face. “Is that not the case?”
Lin Huaizhi couldn’t help laughing out loud. “Of course not. If my eye were really injured, do you think I would let Chu Xiaoran off so easily?”
Learning that Lin Huaizhi’s eyes were fine, Huo Chen unconsciously relaxed a little. But hearing Chu Xiaoran’s name, that face quickly turned cold again.
“So when will you ban him?”
Lin Huaizhi’s gaze was burning. “Pressing me to ban Chu Xiaoran every day—those who don’t know better would think you’re jealous of him.”
Huo Chen countered, “Since you want to pursue me, shouldn’t you clean up the people around you?”
“Yes, yes, yes, I should clean them up. But may I ask, in what capacity does Chu Xiaoran count as ‘someone around me’?” Lin Huaizhi held back his laughter. “Just because he stands beside me and is an artist in my company? I once wanted to be friends with him, but now I’ve cut ties. You can’t say he’s ‘someone around me’ just because of that, right?”
Huo Chen frowned. “He has those kinds of thoughts about you.”
Huo Chen didn’t understand romance himself, but he was accurate in reading Chu Xiaoran. Chu Xiaoran perhaps didn’t even realize it himself, but hidden within his targeting and utilization of Lin Huaizhi was a trace of admiration.
Thinking of this, hostility bred in the man’s eyes.
“Regardless of whether he does or not, in my eyes, he is trash. I can’t look at him highly.”
Mentioning Chu Xiaoran, Lin Huaizhi’s smile faded a bit. “Wait a little longer. I’ve already cut most of his resources. Once this romance variety show wraps up, he basically won’t be able to make any waves.”
Hearing this, Huo Chen’s brow didn’t unfurl much. “How much is ‘most’?”
Lin Huaizhi enjoyed the man’s persistent questioning very much. Pressing for answers was a subconscious manifestation of caring. This man was far less difficult to chase than he appeared.
“‘Most’ means everything I can control, I have controlled. The remaining bits are things I can’t control.”
“For example?”
Lin Huaizhi explained, “For example, those brand endorsements he has. Although there aren’t many big brands, if I really pull him down, the one who loses the most isn’t him, but me.”
Huo Chen wanted to say more, but was directly interrupted by Lin Huaizhi. “Can we not talk about him?”
Huo Chen looked at him. “Then talk about what?”
Lin Huaizhi smiled, looking obedient and harmless, but his words were like a rogue’s. “Talk about kissing? I kind of want to French kiss you.”
Huo Chen: “…”
Huo Chen didn’t take up the conversation but put the chopsticks into his hand. “Eat first.”
If one wanted dignity, one shouldn’t talk about chasing men. Lin Huaizhi was obviously very shameless in this regard, so he moved closer with his chopsticks. “Does that mean after eating, I can kiss you? The kind with tongue?”
The tips of Huo Chen’s ears turned red. “Can you be a little more reserved?”
Lin Huaizhi shook his head, continuing to tease. “Obviously not. And to be honest, as soon as I see you, I want to do intimate things with you. Like kissing, holding hands, hugging, and negative distance contact or something.”
The first three were easy to understand. The last one touched Huo Chen’s blind spot. “What is negative distance contact?”
Lin Huaizhi really didn’t expect Huo Chen to ask this question. His smile became even more brilliant, looking exactly like a hunter watching prey step into a trap.
In an instant, Huo Chen suddenly understood. However, before he could stop him, the young man leaned close to his ear and whispered softly, “It’s… ah.”
Just a few words successfully made Huo Chen’s entire ears turn red. He gritted his teeth. “Lin Huaizhi, can you have some shame?”
“Of course not,” Lin Huaizhi answered very neatly. “If I had shame, how could I still chase you?”
Huo Chen being silent didn’t mean he couldn’t speak. It was just that the man who could be eloquent when discussing business was always easily rendered speechless in front of Lin Huaizhi.
He really didn’t know what to say, and finally could only squeeze out a sentence: “Eat your food properly!”
Lin Huaizhi quit while he was ahead, but didn’t quit too thoroughly.
“Since we can’t French kiss now, and I don’t know when we can, I’ll collect some interest first. That shouldn’t be too much, right?”
Huo Chen really didn’t want to pay attention to him, but couldn’t help scolding, “How can you collect interest on this kind of thing! Can you stop fooling around!”
“Not fooling around. Collecting interest on this kind of thing is very simple. I’ll teach you…”
As Lin Huaizhi spoke, he propped his hand on the coffee table and leaned directly toward the man’s lips. The remaining words spilled out from between their joined lips.
“Just collect it like this.”
