Chapter 4: Unspeakable! Simply Unspeakable!
Xie Qiang hurriedly pulled back her small hands and stumbled back two steps.
She was done for. She had just apologized to Sen Ji, and then she turned around and squeezed the man’s pecs. Would Sen Ji think she was some kind of freak with a split personality?
Just as she was thinking about how to explain, she heard Cang Jiuâs clear yet lazy teenage voice ring out from behind Sen Ji. “Since Your Highness called Commander Sen, why didn’t you say anything to me?”
Xie Qiang looked up in confusion and saw Cang Jiu walking over.
Cang Jiu looked at Sen Ji, then at Xie Qiang. His beautiful fox eyes were filled with a mischievous accusation. “Your Highness, were you planning a mĂ©nage Ă trois?”
Unspeakable! Simply unspeakable!
Xie Qiang was shocked. She wanted to stop him, but it was too late. Feeling the immediate gaze of anger from Sen Ji, she couldn’t help but look up and sigh: Canât he just talk a little less?
Did he have to make her already-precarious reputation even more scandalous?
Wiping her small face, she said to Cang Jiu, “Don’t talk nonsense. I invited Commander Sen here to purify him.”
“Is that so~” Cang Jiu dragged out his tone, then said with a beaming smile to Sen Ji, “My apologies. Her Highness asked me to come over for something related to sleeping, so I assumed you were here for the same.”
Xie Qiang: …?
Who taught you to talk like that?
“Commander Sen, don’t listen to his nonsense. This person isn’t serious.” Xie Qiang decided it was better to explain to Sen Ji. “Heâs just here to make up the numbers; heâll be leaving in a bit.”
Sen Jiâs face was cold. “I don’t care. No need to explain to me.”
Xie Qiang rubbed the tip of her nose. “Fine. Then you two come in.”
She opened the door and walked in first. Cang Jiu glanced at Sen Ji, smiled, and quickly followed Xie Qiang.
Sen Ji lowered his eyes, his emotions unreadable.
She had just… called him Commander Sen.
This was the first time Xie Qiang had addressed him by his title.
Suppressing the subtle ripple in his heart, Sen Ji lifted his military boots and stepped into the place he had never set foot in before.
…
Sen Ji and Cang Jiu sat on the sofa in the living room.
Xie Qiang stood in front of the refrigerator, stalling as she picked out drinks while secretly peeking toward the bedroom.
If Wu Zao had come, he should be hiding in the bedroom wardrobe right now.
In a bit, she would find a reason to “trick” Sen Ji and Cang Jiu into the bedroom. Then, she would “accidentally” spill water and have Sen Ji open the wardrobe to get a new quiltâexactly the moment he would see Wu Zao hiding inside.
Even if Wu Zao wasn’t in there, it wouldn’t matter, as her reason was perfectly legitimate.
Xie Qiang clenched her small fists, her eyes filled with fighting spirit: Perfect, everything is under control!
She took two ice-cold drinks from the fridge and pushed them into Sen Ji and Cang Jiuâs hands, brookng no refusal. Then she ran to the water dispenser and got herself a cup of hot water.
She tried her best to sound casual. “Commander Sen, Tactical Officer Cang, the living room is too big and has an echo. Why don’t we go to the bedroom?”
Cang Jiu hugged his cold drink, smiling in an innocent and harmless way. “I’m fine with anything, Your Highness.”
Sen Ji frowned, looking a bit repulsed. Xie Qiang hurriedly added, “Purification will probably take all night; it’s more comfortable to lie on the bed.”
“Don’t worry, thereâll be a quilt between us. I won’t touch you!” Xie Qiang promised solemnly.
Cang Jiu couldn’t help but let out a chuckle.
This is really interesting.
Before, it was clearly Xie Qiang who wanted to be eight hundred miles away from Sen Ji. Why had it flipped now?
What exactly happened at the logistics department during the day that caused Xie Qiangâs attitude toward Sen Ji to be the complete opposite of what it was before?
Cang Jiu was far too curious, so he decided to stay and find out. “Commander Sen, if youâre still worried, I can sleep in the middle of the two of you.”
Xie Qiang immediately shot a look of horror at Cang Jiu.
He’s so perverted!
No wonder the original host liked him so much; they were two of a kind!
Cang Jiu suddenly let out a sneeze. He rubbed his nose and looked at Xie Qiang with a knowing sense. Xie Qiang hurriedly pulled back the expression on her face and gave a light cough. “Yes, yes, with Tactical Officer Cang here, I definitely won’t do anything to you.”
Sen Ji studied the two of them with a suspicious gaze. Finally, he gave a reluctant nod. “Just the quilt is fine.”
He really didn’t have a fetish for three people sleeping in one bed.
Seeing Sen Ji relent, Xie Qiang felt a surge of relief in her heart.
She led the two into the bedroom and then, choosing the perfect moment, spilled the hot water from her cup onto the bed.
“Ah!” Xie Qiang feigned surprise. “I was too careless. Commander Sen, could you go to the wardrobe and get a new quilt?”
Sen Ji frowned but said nothing, walking straight toward the wardrobe.
Cang Jiu watched the scene with amusement, planning to see what kind of trick Xie Qiang was trying to play.
Xie Qiang held her breath slightly, watching Sen Ji step closer to the wardrobeâfive meters, four meters, three meters…
Suddenly, an image flashed through Xie Qiangâs mind.
Wait? What was that?
Xie Qiangâs face went from nervous to confused, and as the image became clear, her expression shifted to one of pure horror.
She… she remembered! That wardrobe was filled with the original hostâs sexy lingerieâlingerie so skimpy it was terrifying!
Aaaaaaaaaaaaahâ
With an internal scream, Xie Qiang rushed over, darting past Sen Ji and slamming her hand onto the wardrobe handle!
“Wait!” Xie Qiangâs voice cracked from the fright. “How could I let the busy Commander Sen do such a trivial task! Me! Iâll do it!”
Sen Ji frowned. “Xie Qiang, are you mocking me?”
When had she ever cared about him being busy or tired?
“No, didn’t I say? Iâll be better to you from now on,” Xie Qiang explained haphazardly. “Iâm just… not quite used to it yet. Yes, not quite used to it!”
“Pfft.” Beside them, Cang Jiu was laughing so hard he couldn’t stand straight. Xie Qiang couldn’t help but glare at him.
What are you laughing at, you stinky fox? Youâre just making things worse!
Sen Ji was a bit speechless and a bit stunned. He remained silent for a moment before finally turning back toward the bed, dropping a single phrase: “Whatever you want.”
But she shouldn’t think that such a small favor would make him forgive her for everything she had done in the past.
Xie Qiang breathed a sigh of relief.
She let go of the wardrobe handle and stared at it, suddenly feeling a bit of regret.
What if Wu Zao was inside, just waiting for her to open the wardrobe so he could assassinate her?
This was purely “saving face while courting death”… actually putting herself in danger just to avoid an embarrassing situation.
But it was too late to back out now…
Just as Xie Qiang was racking her brain, a shadow fell in front of her. A hand reached over her shoulder and pressed against the wardrobe door.
Xie Qiang looked up in surprise to see Cang Jiuâs exquisite and glamorous face reflected in her pupils. He was smiling, his lips parted to reveal neat, white teeth, with a sharp little tiger tooth visible on the left side. “Your Highness, let me do it.”
Xie Qiangâs heart skipped a beat.
No one could remain indifferent to a life-saving hero falling from the sky, especially one who was exceptionally beautiful and handsome. Xie Qiang clutched her racing heart and, as if possessed, stepped aside.
Seeing this, Sen Ji gave a cold snort and looked away, no longer watching the two.
Cang Jiu opened the wardrobe door and stepped closer without a change in expression. With a “creak,” he leaned down and pulled out a brand-new set of quilts from the bottom of the wardrobe.
Closing the door, he smiled at Xie Qiang. “Your Highness, itâs done.”
Seeing no strange look on his face, Xie Qiang couldn’t help but feel curious. Could it be she had remembered incorrectly, and the wardrobe full of sexy lingerie was actually a different one?
She was just about to open the door to check when Cang Jiu pressed his hand against the door, urging her, “Your Highness, don’t keep Commander Sen waiting too long.”
“Oh, right.” Xie Qiangâs attention was instantly diverted.
Since nothing had happened with Cang Jiu, it meant Wu Zao had probably seen that Sen Ji hadn’t gone manic and thus abandoned the assassination plan.
Great. She had saved her lifeâno, wait, her forearm.
