Chapter 115
When Shen Xili walked into the restaurant, the food Shen Shuyu and Wen Jiafei ordered had just been served.
Wen Jiafei had been keeping an eye on the person stalking Shen Xili, but after seeing Shen Xili come over, the stalker disappeared.
Shen Xili sat down next to Shen Shuyu. “You two met up so early?”
Shen Shuyu said, “If we hadn’t met up, you’d be in a sack by now.”
Shen Shuyu turned to look across the street again. It was empty; no one there.
Shen Xili followed his gaze. “Been following me for several days.”
Shen Shuyu and Wen Jiafei both looked at him. “You knew?”
Shen Xili raised an eyebrow lightly. “However you put it, I’m from the Reserve Army. If I couldn’t even detect such clumsy stalking full of holes, what General would I be? I should just go home.”
That logic indeed held up.
Shen Shuyu asked, “Then do you know who is stalking you?”
“Don’t know.” Shen Xili sighed. “Maybe sent by some Omega who has ideas about me.”
“You…” Shen Shuyu was at a loss for words. “Unlikely.”
Wasn’t Shen Xili quite steady in the novel? But now that the plot was trending towards collapse, Shen Xili being a bit more ‘lively’ seemed normal.
Thinking this, he was just about to say let’s eat when suddenly, Shen Xili leaned in close. Shen Shuyu froze subconsciously, his breath hitching.
Shen Xili asked, “Why unlikely? Am I not good-looking?”
Shen Shuyu’s gaze fell on his face. He swallowed unconsciously. For a moment, he really couldn’t deny it.
“Eat,” Wen Jiafei said coldly.
Shen Shuyu snapped back to reality. He leaned back slightly. “Just talk; you’re too close.”
Shen Xili straightened up leisurely. “Wasn’t I afraid you didn’t see my face clearly?”
“Who wants to see clearly?” Shen Shuyu muttered. He picked up his chopsticks and asked, “It’s been so many days, you just let him follow?”
Shen Xili said, “Let him follow if he wants. Can’t beat me anyway.”
Shen Shuyu picked up a piece of fish. “Where were you going?”
“Home,” Shen Xili said. “Didn’t expect to run into you two.”
“Is your home nearby?” Shen Shuyu looked at him. Shen Xili named a place.
Shen Shuyu looked at Wen Jiafei sitting opposite them, surprised. “Wen Jiafei, isn’t the apartment you’re renting in that complex too?”
Wen Jiafei hummed a confirmation.
Shen Xili said, “So coincidental? We’ll be neighbors then. We can look out for each other if anything happens.”
Wen Jiafei hummed again.
Because they both worked part-time at the same bar and had fought side-by-side in the Survival War, their relationship was passable.
Shen Xili was used to Wen Jiafei’s reticent personality. He didn’t mind, and instead started talking about what to pay attention to when signing the contract later.
Shen Shuyu listened and remarked, “You know quite a lot.”
“Yeah, after all, I’ve rented quite a few places on my way here.” Shen Xili said casually. Hearing this, Shen Shuyu didn’t quite know what to say.
Shen Xili had told him about his past before. That seemingly light sentence carried a lot of hardship from his solo struggles.
Shen Shuyu stopped talking and ate quietly.
Fortunately, Shen Xili didn’t say more either and ate quietly. After the three finished eating, Shen Xili glanced at his watch. “Let’s go. Since it’s the same complex, just come wait at my place.”
Shen Shuyu looked at Wen Jiafei. Wen Jiafei had no objections.
But the journey was very quiet. Shen Shuyu couldn’t stand the atmosphere and asked, “Shen Xili, you’ve been to so many planets. Are there any fun ones?”
Shen Xili thought for a moment. “Actually, planets are all about the same. And now the farther planets are often harassed by interstellar bandits. If you want to visit other planets, I suggest choosing one like Pusi.”
“Interstellar bandits?” Shen Shuyu got interested. “Is it an organization?”
He liked watching such movies in his past life. Didn’t expect there to be real ones.
Shen Xili glanced at him. Seeing Shen Shuyu’s enthusiastic look, he said, “It is an organization. But their methods are much crueler than what you’ve seen.”
Shen Shuyu raised an eyebrow. “Really?”
Shen Xili seemed to think of something, his expression rarely serious. “Mn.”
Shen Shuyu wanted to ask him to elaborate, but seeing Shen Xili’s expression, he swallowed the words and switched topics. “By the way, Feng Xing said he’s ordering costumes for you guys. Don’t forget to send him your sizes.”
“Understood, Little Young Master.” Shen Xili couldn’t help reaching out to rub his head. “Don’t worry. With how much importance Feng Xing attaches to this, he told us long ago.”
Having his head rubbed, Shen Shuyu looked like a cat with blown-up fur, eyes round. “Why did you touch my head?”
Shen Xili withdrew his hand. “Nothing. Just thought you looked like Yuanyuan just now.”
Who is Yuanyuan?
Shen Shuyu was confused. Was there someone named Yuanyuan in the novel?
But soon, he knew who Yuanyuan was. It was a puppy raised by Shen Xili.
The puppy looked only two months old, very small but lively. Seeing Shen Xili return, it rubbed against his feet. Shen Shuyu was surprised. “You raise a puppy too.”
Shen Xili let them sit in the living room. Hearing Shen Shuyu’s inquiry, he replied, “Picked it up on the way back from work two weeks ago. Don’t know the breed. Looked pitiful, so I brought it back.”
Yuanyuan was a yellow puppy, looking a bit like the rural dogs from his past life.
It had four white socks on its feet, its tail wagged ceaselessly, and its eyes were round—super cute. It circled Wen Jiafei’s feet, then circled Shen Shuyu, looked up and barked milkily at him twice, then started chewing on Shen Shuyu’s pant leg.
Shen Xili brought three bottles of mineral water from the kitchen and placed them on the coffee table. “Only have this at home. Don’t mind it.”
Wen Jiafei said thanks.
Shen Xili watched Yuanyuan playing with Shen Shuyu, then looked at Wen Jiafei and asked, “Where is the apartment you’re renting?”
Wen Jiafei said slowly, “Opposite yours.”
“Huh?” Shen Xili was surprised. “You’re renting opposite me?”
Shen Shuyu, who had been playing with the puppy, couldn’t help looking up. “Such a coincidence?”
Wen Jiafei said, “I looked at other listings too. This building has better lighting, even though it costs a hundred more.”
But it was good for Wen Yue to get more sun.
Shen Xili said, “That’s true. Seems we really will be neighbors.”
“Mn.” Wen Jiafei hadn’t expected it to be so coincidental either.
Shen Shuyu bent over slightly, fingers burying into the puppy’s fur. Pretty good. The Protagonist Shou and the Villain becoming neighbors.
In other novels, wouldn’t they need to develop a love-hate entanglement to live up to such fate?
Shen Xili rented a one-bedroom apartment. Though small, he kept it very tidy. The sunlight was good today, making the room very cozy.
The three waited harmoniously until the landlord arrived. When the landlord opened the opposite door with the key, Shen Shuyu realized the opposite unit was larger—two bedrooms and a living room, with ample light.
Evidently, Shen Xili’s landlord was also this person. Hearing they were Shen Xili’s friends, he generously offered a deep cleaning for this afternoon.
Wen Jiafei signed the contract and quickly arranged a moving company. After cleaning this afternoon, he would move in tomorrow. Since he wouldn’t have much time later, getting everything done this week meant Wen Yue could come straight here after discharge.
Also, the landlord’s furniture was complete. Wen Jiafei was very satisfied. He believed Wen Yue would like it too.
The landlord left after offering the cleaning, and the cleaning staff arrived shortly after. The three returned to Shen Xili’s home.
Shen Xili said, “Play games? Boring anyway.”
Shen Shuyu asked, “Don’t you have work today?”
“Didn’t I agree to treat you to hotpot?” Shen Xili said. “Asked the boss for leave.”
This boss is really easy to talk to, Shen Shuyu thought. Both top attractions took leave.
Shen Xili dug out two game controllers from a drawer and turned on the TV. ” usually play games when bored alone at home. Finally have someone to play with today.”
Shen Shuyu took the controller. Thinking for a moment, he asked, “Isn’t your social circle pretty good? Why not ask friends to play together?”
Shen Xili gave him a meaningful look and simply said, “Not everyone can come to my house.”
…Damn! Why did that sound so ambiguous!
