Chapter 140: It Is Real

The moment the peppermint pheromones were released, Gu Huaiye’s legs turned to jelly, and he almost slid down.

It was too late to regret it now; Gu Huaiye could only brace himself and enjoy it.

In his daze, Gu Huaiye thought about how much Xie Miaohan must have loved him back then.

Speaking of strength, Xie Miaohan’s conditions were clearly superior to his, yet he was willing to become an artificial Omega for him, enduring strange looks from others for a lifetime.

He had been so stupid back then. Why did he doubt Xie Miaohan’s feelings and always do things that broke his heart?

Gu Huaiye’s tears began to flow uncontrollably. He hugged Xie Miaohan’s back and whispered into his ear.

“Miaomiao, I love you.”

Xie Miaohan froze, staring at Gu Huaiye’s face in disbelief, unable to utter a single word.

Assuming he couldn’t feel the hug, Gu Huaiye trembled anxiously, “Hold me tight.”

Xie Miaohan snapped back to reality and embraced Gu Huaiye, his tears falling onto the other man’s collarbone.

Clearly, he was the dominant one, yet he cried even harder than Gu Huaiye.

When it was over, Xie Miaohan stroked the back of Gu Huaiye’s neck helplessly and guiltily.

“I’m sorry, I should have controlled myself.”

He clearly couldn’t mark Gu Huaiye, yet he had bitten him like that. How could he be so terrible?

Gu Huaiye was already exhausted, lying on the bed. Even lifting an arm felt like a chore.

“It’s fine, it doesn’t hurt,” Gu Huaiye said boldly. “Don’t forget I’m an Alpha. I’m not that fragile. Do whatever you want to d—”

A sharp pain shot through his rear.

Gu Huaiye: “……”

“However, it would be even better if you were gentler next time,” Gu Huaiye corrected himself meekly.

Xie Miaohan leaned down and kissed the back of Gu Huaiye’s neck.

He found that the pheromones he left on Gu Huaiye had already dissipated; the scent of peppermint was barely detectable.

“Sleep. We have class tomorrow.” Gu Huaiye’s eyelids were impossibly heavy, barely able to stay open. He patted Xie Miaohan’s arm. “Lu Zishi will come to take us to school tomorrow morning. If I’m sleeping too deeply, open the door for him.”

“Okay.”

Getting a response, Gu Huaiye immediately fell asleep.

Xie Miaohan couldn’t sleep. He pressed his face against Gu Huaiye’s chest, feeling the beating of his heart.

“It is real…” Xie Miaohan murmured to himself.

The next day, while Lu Zishi drove the two to school, he kept glancing at Xie Miaohan in the rearview mirror.

He really was beautiful.

No wonder his Young Master insisted on being with him despite him being an Alpha.

“Miaomiao, go back to the hotel by yourself tonight,” Gu Huaiye said to Xie Miaohan. “I won’t join you for dinner.”

He had planned to go to the Chen house to cancel the engagement on the weekend. But Chen Xialin suddenly messaged him, asking if he was free for a date this weekend.

Gu Huaiye really couldn’t bring himself to lie to such a good person, so he decided to make time to go to the Chen house tonight.

“Where are you going?” Xie Miaohan immediately grabbed Gu Huaiye’s hand, his eyes filled with intense anxiety. “Will you come back tonight?”

Gu Huaiye wasn’t sure if he could make it back to the hotel in time. After all, canceling an engagement was a major event; his father would likely keep him at the Gu family villa for a talk.

“I’ll try my best to rush back.” Gu Huaiye coaxed Xie Miaohan softly. “If I’m not back by 1:00 AM, don’t wait for me. Go to sleep early.”

Xie Miaohan parted his lips but ultimately chose to give in.

“Okay, I understand.”

As soon as they arrived at the school gate, Lu Zishi got out to open the door for Gu Huaiye.

Seeing Gu Huaiye limping as he got out of the car, Lu Zishi immediately understood. He looked at Xie Miaohan with a hint of respect.

This Alpha looked delicate and weak, but unexpectedly, he was quite capable—able to make the Young Master willingly lie beneath him.

Or maybe the Young Master just liked this type?

Wait, no. Chen Xialin looked quite delicate too.

Lu Zishi looked at Xie Miaohan’s face again.

Maybe he likes them taller than himself?

Gu Huaiye appeared in front of Lu Zishi at some point, blocking his line of sight.

“What’s with you today?” Gu Huaiye frowned, seemingly displeased. “Why do you keep staring at him?”

Lu Zishi couldn’t help but smile.

Unexpectedly, the Young Master was quite possessive; couldn’t even handle a glance. It seemed this kid was destined to marry into the Gu family.

Lu Zishi could tell Xie Miaohan came from a poor background. Since Gu Huaiye had the Gu Corporation to inherit, he could only assume Xie Miaohan would be the one marrying in.

“Apologies, I overstepped.”

Gu Huaiye gave a grunt of acknowledgment and added, “Take him to the hotel this afternoon.”

“And you, Young Master?”

“I’m going to the Chen house with Chen Zirui.”

As soon as the words fell, Xie Miaohan looked immediately at Gu Huaiye, the hand hanging by his side quietly clenching into a fist.

Gu Huaiye noticed Xie Miaohan’s gaze and quickly explained.

“I am going to the Chen house to cancel the engagement.”

“Isn’t that a bit too rushed? Do you want to consider it?” Xie Miaohan’s eyes were calm. “Your pheromones are so compatible; only he can help you survive your rut.”

Gu Huaiye glared at him unhappily. “What? Is it your turn to push me toward someone else now?”

Xie Miaohan remained silent.

Gu Huaiye sighed helplessly. “After everything we’ve been through… do you think I still don’t know what I want?”

Seeing Xie Miaohan still silent, Gu Huaiye took the initiative to hold his hand.

“Don’t think so much. Wait for me at the hotel.”

Xie Miaohan pondered for a moment, then nodded. “Okay.”

On the way to the Chen house, Chen Zirui was even more nervous than Gu Huaiye, the person actually involved.

“When the time comes, if my brother cries, you absolutely cannot soften your heart,” Chen Zirui instructed Gu Huaiye, fidgeting in the car. “That’s just how he is. If he can’t get what he wants, he tries to solve it by crying.”

Gu Huaiye smiled. “He is an Omega, so naturally he’s prone to tears. We should be more tolerant of him.”

Chen Zirui clicked his tongue. “If you keep speaking for him like that, careful he doesn’t keep pestering you.”

“He is your brother. Don’t you resent me for doing this?”

“Sigh, what’s there to resent?” Chen Zirui had always been open-minded. “Not getting married is fine too. If you guys really got divorced one day, I’d be stuck in the middle. It would be so hard; I couldn’t exactly sneak around to hang out with you.”

Gu Huaiye smiled and didn’t answer.

They probably wouldn’t see much of each other in the future anyway; Chen Zirui was destined to go to District B.

However, as long as Chen Zirui was safe and sound, it didn’t matter if their relationship grew distant in the future.
