Popular Guide: S-Class Sentinels All Want to Monopolize Me Chapter 1.2

Part 2

Mo Xiao leaned down, his well-defined fingers suddenly gripping Su Tang’s chin, forcing her to look up.

Only then did Su Tang see the man’s true face clearly. It was a face with immense visual impact.

High brow bones, a straight nose bridge, thin lips pursed tightly into a cold, hard line. His eye color was the same icy blue as the silver wolf’s—a very beautiful color originally, but now covered in red blood streaks due to pollution.

Mo Xiao’s current state was like a beast on the verge of losing control.

Her chin hurt from being pinched, but Su Tang woke up amidst the pain.

She looked at the silver wolf squatting in front of her, still rubbing its head against her body, and then looked at this Super S-Class Sentinel whose mental state was obviously extremely unstable.

A crazy idea flashed through her mind. Perhaps she had found a way to live.

In the original host’s memory, no Guide had ever been able to approach Mo Xiao, let alone make his spiritual entity so intimate.

This was her chance.

It was her only chance to survive right now.

Having made up her mind, Su Tang’s expression changed rapidly. She stripped away all the wariness and struggle in her gaze, blinked hard, and feeling the pain from her body, soon, a layer of shallow mist covered her watery eyes.

“C-Captain…”

Her voice was hoarse, sounding as if it were squeezed out of her lungs word by word, carrying a dryness from not having been moistened by water for a long time.

“I… I don’t know what happened either.”

“B-But I feel… your spiritual entity seems to like me very much.”

She carefully raised her hand. As if seizing this opportunity, the silver wolf rubbed its entire head against her fingers.

Mo Xiao’s gaze fell on her fingers, then moved back to her face. The strength gripping her chin loosened slightly, but he still didn’t let go.

Seeing that Mo Xiao’s mood had softened, Su Tang suppressed the intense nervousness welling up in her heart and forced herself to speak again.

“P-Please…”

“Take me away from here. I can help you… I can help you soothe the silver wolf…”

Su Tang blinked forcefully, turning the layer of mist in her eyes into substance. A tear flowed down her cheek, making her look incredibly pitiful.

Mo Xiao stared straight at that teardrop, watching it wash away the dirt on the woman’s face as it rolled down, revealing her original fair skin. His gaze darkened.

He knew she wasn’t lying.

He could feel the silver wolf rubbing against her body bit by bit, and the violent, uncontrollable spiritual power in his mind was also being soothed bit by bit.

Regardless, even if Su Tang hadn’t begged him, he had to take her away. He needed to figure out the cause of this phenomenon.

Mo Xiao stared at her for a full half-minute—long enough for cold sweat to break out on Su Tang’s back and for her to lose hope. Just as she was planning to let go of the hand clutching Mo Xiao’s sleeve, the man suddenly released the hand confining her neck.

“Keep up.”

Su Tang almost collapsed to the ground, forcing herself to hold onto a breath to climb up.

As soon as she touched the ground, a piercing pain came from her ankle. She had probably twisted it when rolling down just now. But she didn’t dare delay, limping as she followed behind Mo Xiao.

The silver wolf didn’t follow its master. Instead, it followed closely by her side, occasionally using its body to block the surrounding rubble for her. Su Tang’s heart warmed. Good doggy.

Along the way through the ruins, many white bones and rusted weapons could be seen.

This was the Abandoned Zone, a region filled with fighting and killing, tearing apart and being torn apart every day.

Occasionally, shadows of low-level alien creatures flashed by, but upon approaching within three meters of Mo Xiao, they were shattered by the violent spiritual power radiating from him. Only then did Su Tang truly feel the terror of a Super S-Class Sentinel.

After walking for about half an hour, a makeshift fortification appeared ahead. Several soldiers wearing the same combat uniform were guarding it.

Seeing Mo Xiao, they immediately stood straight and saluted. When their gazes landed on Su Tang following behind him, they revealed undisguised surprise.

“Captain.”

Mo Xiao gave a hum of acknowledgment, offering no further explanation as he walked straight toward the aircraft parked behind the fortification.

A man quickly caught up.

“Captain, the White Tower knows your spiritual power is fluctuating and has ordered you to return immediately.”

His gaze swept over Su Tang, filled with vigilance and scrutiny. “And this is?”

Mo Xiao didn’t look back, pointing at Su Tang.

“A Guide. Take her back.”

Subsequently, Su Tang was helped onto the aircraft by a soldier. The seat was metal, cold and hard, yet it gave her a long-lost sense of security.

The aircraft emitted a slight vibration as it started. Su Tang looked at the rapidly shrinking terrain outside the window and finally breathed a sigh of relief.

She had survived.

At least for the time being, she had survived.

The aircraft passed through the White Tower’s defensive barrier. Through the porthole, Su Tang saw this last fortress of humanity for the first time.

The White Tower, towering into the clouds, was snow-white in its entirety, like a sharp sword piercing the firmament. Surrounding it were dark, polluted areas. This speck of white was like the last fluorescent light of human existence—so incredibly precious.

After entering the White Tower’s range, Mo Xiao’s spiritual power seemed to become unstable again. Su Tang could feel the unsettled aura radiating from him, and the silver wolf also began to circle her somewhat irritably.

Su Tang hesitated for a moment, then reached out and gently placed her hand on the silver wolf’s head, rubbing it.

“Be good. It feels awful, doesn’t it?”

Mo Xiao’s body trembled slightly. He gritted his teeth, enduring the pleasure transmitted from his body.

“Good baby, it’ll be better soon.”

Su Tang dutifully applied the cat-petting techniques she had learned from colleagues to the silver wolf, rubbing until the wolf rolled over to expose its belly, whining and refusing to leave her arms.

Feeling the gradually calming spiritual power from the silver wolf, Su Tang curled her lips, tilted her chin slightly, and looked at Mo Xiao sitting in the front row with a hint of pride.

He turned his head sideways. His gaze landed on Su Tang’s hand resting on the silver wolf’s head; his eyes were dark, his emotions unreadable.

Su Tang’s heart skipped a beat. Did I overdo it? True, what respectable wolf would be willing to be called a “good baby”? She had even filtered it through her brain; she had originally wanted to call him “good doggy”…

The aircraft landed smoothly at the First Squad’s station in the White Tower.

Mo Xiao got off the aircraft and was taken away. Before leaving, he arranged for someone to take her away.

Su Tang was taken to a temporary dormitory. Although called a dormitory, it was actually just a small room of a dozen square meters, containing only a bed and a table, but it was clean and tidy.

“You will live here for the time being.”

The man who brought her turned to leave after speaking.

“Wait!”

Su Tang hurriedly called out to him. “Excuse me… where can I find medicine? I think I twisted my foot.”

The man glanced at her swollen ankle, said nothing, and turned to leave.

“What the heck. Every single one of them is so cold-blooded.”

A few minutes later, a medical soldier walked in carrying a medicine kit. He helped her treat the injury and left some anti-inflammatory drugs.

Finally, only Su Tang was left in the room.

She slumped onto the bed, looking at the scene inside the White Tower through the window, and began to plan her next steps.

The original host’s memories told her that the hierarchy among Guides was strict. Top-tier Guides were revered as treasures, while trash Guides like her could be discarded again at any time.

Mo Xiao brought her back obviously because she could soothe his spiritual power.

But she wasn’t sure if Mo Xiao had other ways to soothe his spiritual power. If a replacement for her was found…

She needed more leverage.

Just as she was thinking, a slight noise came from outside the door. Su Tang looked up vigilantly.

She saw the silver wolf walk in. Seeing her, it ran over excitedly and circled her. It looked much more comfortable now.

Su Tang’s heart softened for a moment, and she raised her hand to pat its head.

“So good, so good.”

Just then, the door was pushed open.

Mo Xiao stood at the doorway. His combat uniform had been changed into a black casual outfit. He had lost some of the battlefield hostility but gained a cold hardness that warned strangers away.

His silver wolf was acting very strangely; its fondness for Su Tang was simply pathological.

“Your spiritual power… what exactly is the situation?”

He wasn’t asking; he was stating. It seemed he had also realized the special nature of her spiritual power regarding him.

Su Tang stopped petting the silver wolf.

“I don’t know. I was thrown there by my family. They said my spiritual power is very weak and cannot be called a Guide…”

Mo Xiao looked at the girl lowering her head in front of him, seemingly heartbroken, and pursed his lips slightly.

He didn’t know about grades or levels.

However, the girl’s spiritual power could definitely not be called trash. If the ability to easily soothe his spiritual power was called being a “trash Guide,” then did other Guides even deserve to exist in this world?

“Come with me to the Testing Center tomorrow.”

After saying this, he turned and left. The silver wolf whimpered aggrievedly and rubbed its head against the back of Su Tang’s hand, obviously reluctant to part with her.

The door closed, and the room returned to silence.

Su Tang slowly raised her head. Her eyes held none of the heartbreak Mo Xiao had imagined.

So what if her spiritual power was judged as weak and trash?

Being able to calm a Super S-Class Sentinel’s spiritual power was the only chip she currently held.

She had nothing right now; her only reliance was this uniqueness regarding Mo Xiao.

At least until the day he found a replacement, Mo Xiao would protect her.
