Cold and Ruthless? That’s Nothing Compared to His Wife’s Broken Waist chapter 94

Chapter 94: Make You Call Me Brother (14)

After asking the question, Xiao Ji felt it was the stupidest thing he’d done in his long life—desperation makes one turn to any doctor.

With Song Zhi’s innocent look, what would he know?

The silence stretched. Just as Xiao Ji was about to say forget it, go to sleep, Song Zhi actually said something useful:

“There is a precedent. Do you know Jiang Lan?”

Xiao Ji hadn’t heard of him. “Who?”

“The Film Emperor! Whoa, you haven’t heard of Jiang Lan? Have you seen the movie The Hunt? A sci-fi masterpiece from two years ago!” Song Zhi was astonished.

Xiao Ji replied flatly, “No.”

Song Zhi was silent for a moment. “Why don’t you look up his info? His lover is also an Alpha. Going from pheromone repulsion to pheromone submission—it’s apparently an extremely rare phenomenon.”

After all that, he finally got to the point.

Xiao Ji decided Song Zhi wasn’t entirely useless. He thanked him politely:

“Thanks.”

With that, he lay back down, picked up his phone, and started searching for the information.

The next morning, Xiao Ji woke up promptly at 5:20 AM.

The camouflage uniform for freshman military training had been delivered by a student council senior while Xiao Ji and Gu Yinnian were talking downstairs the previous night.

He changed into the uniform, washed up, and slipped silently out of the dorm. He bought breakfast at the cafeteria nearest to the dorm area and called Gu Yinnian exactly at 6:00 AM.

“Five minutes to wake up, ten minutes to wash. I’ll be downstairs in fifteen minutes.”

Gu Yinnian hadn’t slept well. Hearing Xiao Ji’s voice, he yawned listlessly and pleaded in a rare soft tone:

“Can I sleep a bit longer?”

Xiao Ji: “Sure. Do you want me to give the freshman speech for you?”

Hearing that, Gu Yinnian shuddered awake. He yawned again and dragged himself out of bed with difficulty.

“Thank you. I’m up.”

Gu Yinnian was still groggy.

But the moment he saw the unread messages on his phone, he woke up completely.

Message from [Photography Club An Jing].

Sent at: 1:03 AM.

Content: A video. An Alpha sitting on a dorm balcony, strumming a guitar and singing a foreign song.

It wasn’t English; it was some niche, unintelligible tongue. The rhythm was soothing, ambiguous, and sleep-inducing.

Below the video was a short caption:

[Nice to meet you. Didn’t have time to prepare a greeting gift, so here’s a song. Goodnight.]

“F*ck.”

Gu Yinnian swore.

Gu Yinnian’s volume on the phone hadn’t disturbed the sleeping Lin Mo.

But at that curse word, though not loud, Lin Mo opened his eyes instantly.

“What’s wrong, Brother Nian?”

Gu Yinnian, face grim, tossed his phone to Lin Mo.

Lin Mo nearly got hit in the face. He fumbled to catch the phone and confusedly played the video.

“The guy who asked Xiao Ji for his contact info last night?”

Gu Yinnian grunted. “Xiao Ji obeyed and used my phone to add him.”

Lin Mo had just woken up; his brain was booting up and not fully lucid. Hearing the singing, he subconsciously commented:

“This guy’s pretty good. The singing is really…”

Before he could finish, he felt an invisible blade swinging over his head.

He glanced up at Gu Yinnian’s expression and immediately swerved:

“…What a bastard! Definitely not a good person. What kind of decent person sends this kind of lewd noise to harass people in the middle of the night?!”

Gu Yinnian’s expression softened slightly. He got out of bed, quickly changed clothes, took his phone back from Lin Mo, and typed a reply to An Jing:

[You’re celebrating too early.]

Then, he set An Jing to “Do Not Disturb” and went to the bathroom to wash up.

Because he had to prepare for his speech, Gu Yinnian didn’t leave with Lin Mo.

When he came downstairs and exited the dorm area, he saw Xiao Ji standing in the shade of a tree.

The standardized military uniforms issued by the school always had sizing discrepancies and poor material; they were actually quite ugly.

But not on Xiao Ji.

Xiao Ji stood straight as a ramrod. The cheap belt outlined the narrow waist Gu Yinnian had hugged just last night, and the black tactical boots made his legs look endlessly long.

The sunrise filtered through the leaves, dappling light across Xiao Ji’s face.

Sensing Gu Yinnian’s presence, Xiao Ji looked up slightly, his gaze landing perfectly in Gu Yinnian’s eyes.

Gu Yinnian swallowed. He walked up to Xiao Ji and looked at the breakfast in his hand.

“I told you to call me; I didn’t tell you to get up this early yourself.”

Xiao Ji handed him the breakfast. “I had nothing to do. I don’t sleep much anyway.”

Gu Yinnian took a big gulp of soy milk, opened the paper bag containing the steaming beef pastry, and stuffed it into his mouth as they walked.

On the way, he talked about his speech draft, about how Xiao Ji looked good in the uniform, and wondered if Xiao Ji would shrink a bit if he differentiated into an Omega.

If he didn’t shrink, such a huge Omega might have trouble finding a partner.

He talked about military training precautions, the class meeting tonight, and his intention to join the student council.

He chattered about countless topics, but didn’t mention An Jing.

Fortunately, Xiao Ji had long forgotten that person and didn’t bring him up.

As they neared the auditorium, Xiao Ji suddenly asked:

“Do you know Jiang Lan?”

Gu Yinnian felt the name was familiar.

But he didn’t follow the entertainment industry, so he couldn’t place it immediately. He asked instinctively:

“Did someone ask for your contact info again? Where was it this time? The cafeteria?”

Xiao Ji stared at Gu Yinnian’s profile for a moment.

“No. Jiang Lan is a celebrity.”

Gu Yinnian said “Oh” and suddenly remembered.

“I know him. Rings a bell. Ms. Chen went to see his movie with Old Gu a while back. Why?”

Xiao Ji said casually, “I heard his movie The Hunt is good. Have you seen it?”

Gu Yinnian shook his head. “Since you left, I had to carry a vocabulary book just to go to the toilet, terrified my grades would drop and you’d nag me endlessly. Where would I find time to watch movies?”

Xiao Ji fell silent.

It took Gu Yinnian a moment to realize what Xiao Ji meant.

“You want to see a movie?”

Xiao Ji hummed, lowering his eyes. “But it’s already out of theaters.”

Seeing his disappointed look, Gu Yinnian scoffed and offered:

“So what? After military training, I’ll take you to a private cinema to watch it.”

Xiao Ji achieved his goal. He curved his eyes at Gu Yinnian.

“Okay.”

Seeing that expression, Gu Yinnian couldn’t resist reaching out and pinching the tip of his nose.

“Why are you still just like when you were little?”
