The Straight Heartthrob: Ruthlessly Forced by a Madman Chapter 19

Chapter 19: Bro Hug

As the words fell, the room instantly fell silent, leaving only the sound of their breathing, one heavier than the other.

Wen Yuhuai could clearly feel their gazes landing on him in unison. The emotions contained within were incomprehensible, giving him the illusion that he wanted to flee in panic.

He stepped back unconsciously until his calves pressed against the edge of the hospital bed, leaving him no retreat.

“If you don’t want to hug, forget it—”

Before the sentence could finish, it was interrupted. They all took a step forward simultaneously, staring at him with burning eyes: “I do.”

Wen Yuhuai suddenly felt like a little fat lamb that had fallen into a pack of wolves. A group of wolves stared at him hungrily, as if they would skin him, debone him, and eat him clean in the next second.

“Who goes first?”

Wen Yuhuai widened his eyes at the speaker. No, why is there a queue now? I didn’t say I’d hug everyone one by one.

Thinking this, he said it out loud. Instantly, the atmosphere in the ward changed.

If it was barely harmonious just now, it could be described as daggers drawn now. If looks could kill, they would have stabbed each other full of holes long ago.

Song Xingmian squeezed directly to the front, opening his arms to pounce on him, acting clingy and coquettish: “Brother, hug me. We haven’t seen each other for so long. I missed you every day abroad~”

But before he could touch a finger of Wen Yuhuai, he was grabbed by the collar and hauled back.

Lin Shiyu stood beside him, closest to Wen Yuhuai. He could have hugged him just by reaching out, yet he still asked gentlemanly, “Want to hug me?”

Wen Yuhuai thought about it and opened his arms to him, adopting a “good buddies” posture. “Come on, brother, hug it out.”

He didn’t know if it was his illusion, but as these words fell, the way the others looked at him changed again. There seemed to be a bit of speechlessness, mixed with an indescribable aggressiveness.

Like beasts guarding a large piece of fresh meat but unable to bite, only able to pace anxiously nearby.

The two finally hugged. Wen Yuhuai rested his head on the other’s shoulder. Besides the scent of shampoo, he could smell the faint smell of tobacco on him.

Wen Yuhuai didn’t feel anything special. Lin Shiyu was also very well-behaved, so well-behaved he was almost stiff.

Only, perhaps it was his imagination, but he felt as if wild beasts were staring at him from the surroundings, making his heart feel fuzzy.

After hugging for a while, he felt the quota was met. He gently pushed Lin Shiyu’s shoulders twice to signal him to let go. Lin Shiyu’s body stiffened for a moment, but ultimately, he let go with restraint.

“Alright, I’m fine here. You guys go get busy. I’ll call you if anything comes up.”

Song Xingmian wasn’t happy. He turned back to glare fiercely at Gu Yanxiu, who had held him back just now, and squeezed over again. “Brother, let them go quickly. They are all very busy. I’ll stay and keep you company.”

Wen Yuhuai thought about it and felt he was right. Song Xingmian hadn’t finished his studies yet, and company matters were handled by his older brothers and sisters, so he wasn’t really needed.

Just as he was about to say something, Fu Xingjian suddenly spoke up. His voice was unhurried, yet it instantly froze Song Xingmian in place. “Barring any accidents, you should be able to get your degree next year. But the requirements over there are very strict; a moment of carelessness could lead to delayed graduation.”

Seeing Song Xingmian’s expression change, he leisurely added a fatal blow, “If you can never graduate, then you’ll have to stay abroad forever.”

The smile on Song Xingmian’s face faded completely. He looked at Wen Yuhuai on the hospital bed, who was oblivious to the situation, his eyes shifting slightly. “What does Brother Fu mean by this? Are you going to pressure my family to send me abroad and not let me come back?”

Fu Xingjian remained expressionless, his tone equally calm. “I’m purely concerned about your studies. Of course, if you insist on thinking that way, I can’t help it.”

“You—”

Wen Yuhuai didn’t know what the two were arguing about again. Seeing the atmosphere becoming increasingly tense, he decisively called a halt.

“Go, go, go, you all leave quickly. No need to come to the hospital to see me anymore. I’ll notify you when I’m discharged.”

The group was pushed and shoved out of the ward by Wen Yuhuai, then watched helplessly as the ward door slammed shut in front of them.

Someone laughed, taking pleasure in the misfortune. “Great, now everyone’s been kicked out.”

Gu Yanxiu looked at his watch and took the lead toward the elevator. “Kicked out today, so come back tomorrow. I have an important meeting at the company; I’ll be going first.”

The others had no excuse to stay, so they all got into the elevator with cold faces.

The elevator stopped at the third floor, and a middle-aged man got on—likely a patient’s family member.

The man was obviously stunned upon entering, but seeing that these people were wealthy and noble, he didn’t strike up a conversation and found a corner to stand in.

In the meantime, he couldn’t help but peek at the four people behind him through the polished, mirror-like elevator doors.

Judging by their appearance, they should be together. They looked like they belonged to the same circle; each one was incredibly handsome. At the very least, he hadn’t seen such upright young men in his daily life.

But why were they all keeping cold faces? They acted as if they were enemies. The entire elevator was terribly oppressive because of the four of them.

Afraid of being discovered, the man didn’t dare look much. The first floor arrived quickly. He rushed out the door, finally breathing a sigh of relief.

Gu Yanxiu wasn’t making excuses about the meeting; there really was one, and it was quite important.

The meeting lasted nearly two hours. When he came out of the conference room, it was just time for lunch.

The second assistant came to remind him: “Little President Lin is here. He’s been waiting in your office for half an hour.”

Gu Yanxiu nodded with a gentle expression. “Alright, I know. You go eat.”

He pushed open the office door and saw Lin Shiyu sitting on the sofa in the guest area, holding a cup of black tea and drinking slowly.

“Finished the meeting?”

Gu Yanxiu sat in his office chair, a smile on his face, looking slightly amused. “What wind blew you here? Here to discuss cooperation?”

Lin Shiyu looked at him with a faint smile. “I’ve been here more than once recently. You just weren’t in the previous times.”

Gu Yanxiu paused slightly, remembering his assistant reporting that Lin Shiyu had looked for him several times a few days ago.

Why wasn’t he at the company then?

The smile on Gu Yanxiu’s lips deepened, seemingly reminiscing.

He remembered. At that time, he had finally coaxed and tricked the person into his mouth, but he made his baby too angry and got beaten up. The fists had all landed on his face.

The marks from the beating were too obvious. He had recuperated for several days before he was barely presentable enough to go out.
