Chapter 46: Sleeping Pills
This villa really lacked the breath of life.
The decoration was cold, items placed overly neatly, as if every type of thing could be completely organized in a certain place.
The dining room was the same.
A long table. Pei Zhouye often sat opposite Wen Yan, rarely speaking or making noise during the meal.
He had never seen Pei Zhouye express liking or dislike for any dish. It seemed that for Pei Zhouye, eating was only to maintain physiological survival needs.
Wen Yan always felt there was no human touch here. Perhaps the air conditioning was too strong in summer, or perhaps such a big place only had the two of them.
Pei Zhouye hadn’t said what this villa was used for before. Listening to Auntie Chun, he had lived here for a period in the past.
Today, many bottles of wine were placed on the dining table.
Wen Yan suppressed his nervousness, his heart beating fast in his chest.
He asked, “Do you hate today’s wine?”
Pei Zhouye stopped the action of eating, put down the chopsticks casually, and then raised his eyes to look at him.
He asked back, “Do you want me to drink?”
Wen Yan held his breath: “Yes.”
He couldn’t gauge Pei Zhouye’s preferences at all. Testing for so many days, every time he poured wine Pei Zhouye would drink, with almost no likes or dislikes.
Today was the only time Pei Zhouye didn’t drink the wine he poured.
There was no expression on Pei Zhouye’s face, voice listless and cold: “You come over, kiss me once, I drink one glass.”
Silence for a few seconds.
Wen Yan stood up, walked around the table, and sat beside Pei Zhouye.
Pei Zhouye leaned against the back of the chair, careless and indifferent, attitude lukewarm towards him.
Wen Yan suddenly remembered Pei Zhouye at the return banquet. At that time, he was also like this, arrogant and superior, hostility and coldness unreserved.
His hand trembled as he cupped the man’s face and kissed him very lightly on the corner of his lips.
He seemed to hear a light laugh.
Pei Zhouye didn’t hesitate, picked up the glass containing red wine, and drank it in one go.
“Continue.”
Wen Yan wanted to kiss the corner of his lips again. The other party moved slightly, and it landed right on the lips.
He froze in fright, moving away quickly after reacting.
Pei Zhouye had no excessive reaction, poured himself a glass of wine, and drank it in one go again.
Eight glasses of wine, full two bottles of red wine.
Wen Yan was already blushing and heart-racing just getting some wine on him. Pei Zhouye drank eight glasses.
The kisses became longer and longer, the time apart shorter and shorter.
After Wen Yan struggled free dizzily again, Pei Zhouye’s strength was very light.
He closed his eyes quietly, hand resting weakly on the chair, as if napping.
“Pei Zhouye…” Wen Yan called out tentatively and softly.
He didn’t react.
Wen Yan adjusted his breathing quickly, supported himself on the table to stand up, and looked back one last time before leaving.
Under the light, the shadow of the man’s brow bone fell. There was no sign of waking up. The usual pressing sharpness softened a lot.
The effect of sleeping pills and red wine could at least make Pei Zhouye sleep until tomorrow morning.
Wen Yan didn’t hesitate, straightened his clothes, unlocked the door, and stepped out.
Having not walked on the outside road for a long time, Wen Yan quickened his pace.
The villa area was too big. He was fumigated dizzy by the alcohol fumes, finding the exit according to the route Auntie Chun led him in.
Apartment.
Knocking sound. Three knocks. The phone ringtone began to ring.
Cheng Shangshi pressed hang up and got up to open the door.
Manager Wang pushed the door open carelessly, threw a thick notebook on the sofa, and then lay down on the sofa.
“What’s wrong?” Cheng Shangshi didn’t care about this, walked slowly to the sofa side, and picked up the notebook.
Manager Wang: “Took a script for you. Look at the script these two days, go prepare makeup on Monday.”
Cheng Shangshi’s expression was neither surprised nor happy, but rather confused: “Didn’t they say I was banned?”
Manager Wang was so angry he sat up straight from the sofa: “Do you really not want to act anymore? Banned what banned? If you are banned, who will support my family young and old? Our company only has you as a presentable one…”
Their company only had Cheng Shangshi as a slightly popular artist. He had elders above and children below, and a mortgage for a school district house pressing on him. Having signed a black-hearted contract, he couldn’t change jobs; otherwise, he wouldn’t fight tooth and nail against his conscience to protect Cheng Shangshi, this money tree.
Cheng Shangshi didn’t make a sound, silently flipping through the script.
It was a good script. No matter what, it shouldn’t have fallen on his head.
Cheng Shangshi: “Where did this script come from?”
Manager Wang sighed with relief: “President Pei gave it. You must not cause trouble again in the future! Detour when you see Lin Seran and Wen Yan, understand? I won’t be able to save you next time!”
Cheng Shangshi frowned, thinking of the last time Wen Yan got out of the car with Manager Wang at the back gate of A University.
“Brother Wang, last time you went to accompany Wen Yan to exchange cash, why did you come back so fast?”
Manager Wang’s expression was stiff and guilty.
Cheng Shangshi remembered that Manager Wang seemed to have taken a photo in the car, expression turning cold: “Who did you send the photo to before?”
Manager Wang didn’t reply.
The news that Pei Zhouye arranged a drama for Cheng Shangshi spread quickly. After all, everyone thought Cheng Shangshi offended Lin Seran and would definitely be frozen in the industry.
Lin Seran heard this news after finishing the night shoot, furious, throwing the prop in his hand onto the ground fiercely.
The assistant was scared and hurriedly picked it up to check: “Brother Ran, this is a key prop, still need to use it…”
“Shut up!” Lin Seran looked at the message popping up on the phone, angry enough to cry.
He called Shen Yao. Pei Zhouye stuffing resources must have gone through Shen Yao.
“What is it again, big star?” Shen Yao’s tone was impatient; he was playing a game happily.
“Why did Brother Zhouye stuff resources for Cheng Shangshi again? Clearly knowing he bullied me!” Lin Seran asked righteously.
Shen Yao perfunctorily said: “It was arranged after your birthday banquet, just that the company only arranged it today. For the sake of our friendship for so many years, Brother sincerely advises you, manage less of what Brother Pei does. Hanging up.”
Lin Seran looked at the hung-up phone interface, angry red rims around his eyes.
If they didn’t tell him, fine. He would find out in other ways!
It got dark late in summer. On a sunny day, the moonlight was bright.
Wen Yan’s escape was overly smooth.
Getting Pei Zhouye drunk, drugging him, opening the villa door, coming out from the community gate, walking for a long time encountering a taxi, using cash to take a taxi.
Uneasiness was heavy in his heart.
“Handsome guy, where to?”
The taxi driver asked Wen Yan in the back seat with a pure Nan City accent.
Wen Yan took a deep breath to soothe himself. “First People’s Hospital. Master, drive faster.”
“Alright.”
The car drove smoothly on the road.
Wen Yan opened the car window. The hot wind of summer poured in, slowly smoothing the wildly beating heart.
