Chapter 22: Is He… Is He Bullying Her?!
After finishing the purification for the last Sentinel, Xie Qiang let out a long sigh of relief, standing up to stretch vigorously. “Mm, finally done.”
Like a kitten waking up and stretching.
The Sentinel thought secretly. Seeing Xie Qiang rub her stomach, he couldn’t help but ask boldly out of concern, “Is Your Highness hungry? Should I go to the cafeteria to get some food for you?”
“Mm, thanks, no need.”
Xie Qiang shook her head. “I’ll go by myself in a bit.”
Watching the Sentinel leave, she sat back in her office chair, stacking and organizing the somewhat scattered application forms on the desk.
Counting the few Sentinels from the morning, she had purified a total of 112 B-class Sentinels today.
Her mental power hadn’t been consumed much, but her body was exhausted. After all, a Guide’s physical fitness was worse than an ordinary person’s. Working from morning to night without rest was very tiring.
“Rest for a bit first.”
Xie Qiang sprawled onto the desk like a cat, narrowing her eyes, her voice soft and lazy. “Just ten minutes, mm…”
The room fell into a long-lost silence. Before long, the sound of faint, even breathing rang out over the desk.
“Hoo, hoo…”
The girl’s nose twitched lightly, her slender body rising and falling gently with her breathing. She turned her cheek; on her fair and tender face, the folds of her sleeves left faint red marks.
The lights in the room seemed to pity the girl, dimming quietly. The soft yellow light was like a pair of hands gently weaving a warm quilt, draping a layer of thin, warm halo over her.
Everything around calmed down until the office door made a soft creak, and a fluffy red head drilled in.
“Why isn’t she out yet… she didn’t die inside, did she?”
Hong Que wrapped himself in the small sheet, scanning the office suspiciously. When his gaze landed on Xie Qiang lying motionless on the desk, his vision started.
He flashed like a whoosh, standing in front of Xie Qiang in the blink of an eye. Seeing her nose breathing slightly and no smell of blood in the air, he breathed a sigh of relief. “Scared me to death, turns out she’s sleeping.”
Glaring speechlessly at the girl, Hong Que crossed his arms. Just as he was about to wake her up, his gaze swept over the fatigue between her brows, and his open mouth pursed shut again.
“Is it necessary to make yourself so tired…”
Clearly, she opened 80 slots, but ended up purifying 105 Sentinels. A full 25 B-class Sentinels had fished in troubled waters to mooch off her purification.
“Idiot, doesn’t even know to count.”
Hong Que scratched his hair irritably, his expression looking a bit like he resented iron for not becoming steel. Glancing at the girl’s thin and slender figure, he pulled off the sheet from his body and covered her messily.
“I’m not pitying you; I’m just too lazy to send the sheet back.” He silently pulled over a chair, sat next to Xie Qiang, and muttered softly, “And I don’t want to protect you up close; purely waiting for Mo Yin to bring food.”
The girl responded with the sound of sleeping breath.
Hong Que crossed his legs, leaning lazily against the back of the chair. His gaze looked forward boredly, but soon, that gaze shifted slightly, landing seemingly inadvertently on Xie Qiangโs face.
Those Sentinels who left after purification were all praising how cute and beautiful the Princess was. Hong Que had been disdainful, thinking they were simply talking nonsense with their eyes open.
He even suspected they were coerced by Xie Qiang to spread rumors that she was gentle, cute, and popular.
But now looking at the sweetly sleeping girl, Hong Que’s eyebrows trembled. Realizing something, he quickly looked away.
“What the hell…” He muttered in a low voice, carrying a bit of disbelief. “She’s actually really pretty.”
Before, he clearly felt she was repulsive, like a wild cat with a face full of fierce scars and a hulking body, not to be provoked.
“Illusion, must be an illusion.”
Hong Que quickly closed his eyes, desperately waving away the girl’s warm, sweet smile and defenseless sleeping face from his mind.
Waving and waving, his spirit relaxed. Before long, the red-haired youth’s head began to tilt back, his body relaxing against the chair, his chest rising and falling rhythmically.
He fell asleep.
One small, one big; one noble, one honored. They fell asleep amidst hunger and exhaustion, leaving only their breathing intertwined, impossible to separate.
Hong Que was suffocated awake.
He snapped his eyes open to see Mo Yin balancing two lunch boxes on his head, expressionlessly pinching his nose and lips with both hands.
Hong Que: ???
Hong Que slapped his hand away. “What took you so long!”
Xie Qiang was woken by the noise, rubbing her eyes and lifting her head. “Mm… who is it?”
She looked up at the only person appearing in the room, asking somewhat strangely, “Mo Yin? Just you? I seemed to hear Hong Queโs voice just now.”
She straightened up and discovered a sheet covering her back. She looked at Mo Yin in surprise. “Did you bring this?”
Mo Yin didn’t speak. He handed one of the lunch boxes on his head to Xie Qiang.
Xie Qiang blinked, very surprised. “You actually brought dinner for me too? Thank you, Mo Yin, you’re so thoughtful!”
So Mo Yin has the ability to think proactively. She thought Mo Yin would only listen to her orders and wouldn’t take extra care of her.
Is it because she applied medicine to him that he cares a bit more about her?
Xie Qiang couldn’t help looking at Mo Yinโs arm.
Under the dim yellow light, the youth wore a sleeveless high-collared black tight suit. His slender arm muscles were smooth and robust, with no scars visible. That layer of perfectly exercised thin muscle could be faintly seen through the sleek tight suit.
Somehow a bit sexy.
She hurriedly took back her gaze, her earlobes slightly red. “Cough, have you not eaten either? Sit down and let’s eat together!”
Mo Yinโs eyelashes fluttered slightly.
He was already full.
But orders… could not be disobeyed.
He sat down with a wooden face, mimicking Xie Qiangโs action, and placed the lunch box from his head onto the desk.
Xie Qiang opened the lunch box happily, then her small face paused: …
Why is it all small dried fish!
She couldn’t help turning to look at Mo Yin, only to find that the food in Mo Yinโs lunch box was normal.
Realizing something, Xie Qiangโs eyes went round.
Is he… is he bullying her?!
She almost forgot, the villainess tortured Mo Yin for over a month. How could Mo Yin forgive her just because she applied medicine to him once!
Just like Sen Ji said, this was what “she” owed them.
She took it for granted again, thinking a little favor could win Mo Yinโs forgiveness.
Xie Qiang lowered her head, poking the small dried fish, her mood somewhat low.
Mo Yin stared at her, his dark golden wolf eyes unmoving, observing Xie Qiangโs expression.
Why isn’t she eating?
Doesn’t like it?
Yesterday her dinner was clearly a plate of small dried fish.
Although it all went into his stomach in the end, it didn’t achieve the level of “tiding him over.”
Mo Yin lowered his eyes, his ink-feather-like eyelashes trembling slightly.
Cannot disobey orders.
But…
Being hungry feels bad.
She will lose her temper.
Then, punishment.
Mo Yin stared at Xie Qiangโs tender small body. Then, his slender, distinct fingers covered the lunch box and moved it in front of Xie Qiang.
Xie Qiang raised her eyes in surprise.
“Is this… also for me?”
Mo Yin didn’t answer, only withdrawing his gaze, looking calmly elsewhere.
He just moved the lunch box.
He didn’t say he wouldn’t eat.
If she ate it, it counted as hers, so it wouldn’t count as him actively disobeying orders.
Xie Qiang blinked. She pushed the two lunch boxes together in the middle, her eyes smiling brightly. “Thank you, let’s eat together!”
Mo Yin: …
Didn’t escape.
The opponent is one step ahead.
