Chapter 28: Everyone, My Son
Once his goal was clear, Wen Yuhuai began to rack his brain about which banquet it was. After thinking for a long time, he couldn’t remember. It wasn’t his fault; there were simply too many banquets in the Beijing wealthy circle.
Wen Yuhuai was never one to make things hard for himself. Since he couldn’t remember, he simply stopped thinking about it. Anyway, he would just tag along to whatever banquet the protagonist group went to; the heroine would always appear.
But before that, there was a major event threatening his life and survival: his brother was coming back early.
Originally, it was said he would return on Wednesday. But just now on Monday, Wen Yuzhou called again. His flight was at seven in the evening, and he named Wen Yuhuai to pick him up at the airport.
Protest was futile. At six-thirty that evening, Wen Yuhuai drove to the airport on time, with bodyguards driving another car behind him to escort him.
The forced kiss at the hotel last time left him with psychological trauma. Now, whenever he went out, bodyguards had to follow him every step of the way.
After waiting at the airport for a short while, he saw a familiar tall figure coming out of the exit. As usual, he wore sunglasses to look cool, walking with the aura of a big shot.
The difference from usual was that he was holding a child in his hand.
The child looked about three or four years old, being led along like a small pendant. He also wore sunglasses on his face. Paired with his chubby little face, he was both milky and handsome.
Wen Yuhuai’s eyes widened. He reflexively took out his phone and started taking pictures. His brother hadn’t been gone for long; how did he bring back such a big child?
After snapping shots from every angle, Wen Yuhuai opened the car door, got out, and strode straight toward the child on his long legs.
“Call me Uncle.”
The child looked up at him. Seemingly finding it hard to see clearly, he took off the sunglasses on his face and shouted in a milky voice: “Uncle.”
Wen Yuhuai loved him to bits. He bent down to pick him up and kissed his chubby cheek. “Brother, where did you abduct this kid from?”
Looking closely, this kid really looked quite like his brother. Not only like his brother, but also like him. If he carried him out, people would believe it if he said it was his own son.
Wen Yuzhou coughed twice. “Born of my own.”
Wen Yuhuai hugged the child and circled his brother several times, as if looking at an endangered animal. He even stammered, “No… No, Brother, am I ignorant? Can men give birth now? Has technology advanced this much?”
Wen Yuzhou’s face turned black instantly. “My wife gave birth to him.”
Wen Yuhuai’s look at his eldest brother changed again. “Did I lose my memory? You aren’t even married yet; where did the wife and child come from? Besides, you brought the child back; where is my sister-in-law?”
Wen Yuzhou took off his sunglasses and got straight into the car. “Why ask so much? We’ll talk about anything at home.”
Wen Yuhuai walked toward the car holding the child. “What’s my nephew’s name?”
Wen Yuzhou: “Wen Chi.”
Wen Yuhuai’s expression became a bit intriguing. He sat in the driver’s seat and started the car toward the exit. “You got a big son for free, and he even takes your surname. Did a pie fall from the sky?”
Wen Yuzhou lifted his eyelids. “Why, envious?”
Wen Yuhuai was more than envious; he was starting to get jealous. Why did no good things ever happen to him? A few days ago, he was clamoring that if his eldest brother didn’t marry, he wouldn’t marry either. Now it was great; the guy even had a son. If Ms. Jiang urged him again, he wouldn’t even have an excuse to refuse.
Forget it. His eldest brother’s son was his son, give or take. Wen Yuhuai picked a solo photo of the little guy and sent it directly to the group of five.
[Everyone, my son. Get your red envelope money ready.]
After sending it, he silenced his phone and focused on driving.
Intending to surprise the two at home, he didn’t tell them about Wen Chi. Sure enough, Jiang Jing and Wen Chenglin’s reaction to seeing the child wasn’t much better than his.
After dinner, the two directly skipped Wen Yuhuai and started a criticism meeting. The target was naturally Wen Yuzhou. Wen Yuhuai happily carried his freshly baked nephew back to his room.
Back in the room, checking his phone, he found the group had exploded.
It was mainly because the photo he picked was too deceptive. At first glance, it looked like a miniature version of him. It wasn’t strange for the group to believe it was true.
Song Xingmian: [Child? How could Brother have a child? It must be fake, right? Brother, say something.]
Lin Shiyu: [??? Didn’t you only hold hands with those ex-girlfriends of yours? Never even kissed on the mouth. Where did the child come from?]
Lin Shiyu: [Is it AI synthesized?]
Gu Yanxiu: [Ah Yu, this kind of thing isn’t suitable for joking. The child looks three or four years old. You were just twenty then, hadn’t even graduated university. Where would a child come from?]
Fu Xingjian: [Are you sure it’s your child? What if someone has ulterior motives? Did you do a DNA test?]
……
…
Wen Yuhuai scrolled for a long time before finally finishing the chat history. He nearly laughed himself crazy. After laughing for a while, he barely stopped, dragged little Wen Chi over, took a photo together, and sent it to the group.
@Lin Shiyu: [See clearly? Not AI.]
@Fu Xingjian: [Brother Jian, just looking at these two faces, you can tell it’s biological.]
No one spoke in the group for a long time. Thinking about it, Wen Yuhuai sent a few question marks over.
[?????]
[Are you guys not happy I have a child? Why is no one congratulating me?]
[Is it to avoid giving red envelope money?]
The group remained quiet as a chicken.
Behind the screens, the four men stared at the group photo with icy expressions.
If the previous solo photo had signs of AI, then this one was absolutely impossible to be AI. Looking so alike, and the other party daring to bring him to the door—it seemed undoubtedly biological.
They watched him so closely, yet a child this big could appear out of thin air. The child was here; could the mother be far behind?
A thought flashed through their minds in unison: The child can stay; we can treat him as our own in the future. But the mother absolutely cannot stay.
It would be best if she was money-grubbing and could be driven away with money. If money didn’t work—
On the other side.
Wen Yuhuai waited for a while longer. Still no one spoke in the group. He finally felt bored. Just as he was about to reveal everything that it was his brother’s child, his phone rang in succession.
This time it wasn’t group messages, but private messages.
Song Xingmian: [Brother, it doesn’t matter. I like children very much. I will learn to take care of children too. Brother, look at me, okay?~]
Wen Yuhuai frowned and exited the chat interface. What kind of nonsense was he saying? He couldn’t understand a single sentence.
He clicked on Gu Yanxiu’s. [Education is very important for a child at this age. It’s hard to get enrolled right now. I happen to have a quota for an international school here.]
This could work. It could solve his nephew’s schooling problem.
Wen Yuhuai replied with a sticker. The phone vibrated twice more in succession—Lin Shiyu and Fu Xingjian respectively.
Fu Xingjian: [I’m at your house, Ah Yu. Come out and chat if you don’t want me to go in.]
Lin Shiyu: [Arriving at your door in five minutes. Wait for me.]
