Chapter 62 · There Was An Accident
“Arms up.”
Following Qin Huai’s voice, Duan Ke obediently raised his arms, tilting his face up and waiting.
Qin Huai helped him take off the shirt he had worn for days and put a brand new shirt on Duan Ke that still emitted a faint scent of laundry detergent.
The size fit perfectly, showing just how familiar Qin Huai was with the body measurements of the owner of these clothes.
Looking down, Qin Huai casually kneaded Duan Ke’s waist.
The kid immediately trembled lightly, but only pursed his lips, not reaching out to block, because Qin Huai didn’t tell him to put his hands down.
Qin Huai said with amusement, “Okay baby, put hands down.”
Duan Ke gave an “Oh,” lowered his raised arms, and smoothly circled the back of the man half-kneeling in front of him.
Qin Huai’s back muscles were trained tight, occasionally contracting with his movements of changing Duan Ke’s pants.
Duan Ke felt they felt good to touch, squeezing them idly, his chin resting lazily on Qin Huai’s shoulder.
Qin Huai quickly finished putting on his pants and underwear.
Duan Ke asked him why there was a full set of his clothes in the office. Qin Huai just smiled, glossing over it with a kiss.
In fact, not only were they there, but there was more than one set, placed under the cabinet in the office long ago.
Of course, Qin Huai wouldn’t tell his boyfriend this, otherwise, there would be no hope for office play next time.
He sat next to Duan Ke, unscrewing the cap of the nutrient solution in his hand; a faint sweet orange scent spilled out.
“Already found where that thing is hiding.”
Qin Huai tipped his head back to take a sip, saying, “Before entering the dream, I took a bit of that thing’s demonic energy from your body and had the Tech Department track It’s location. Results are out now.”
“Wow! Is the Tech Department so amazing?”
Duan Ke’s eyes were bright.
He remembered Heracles’ words earlier; the other party also seemed to have said this department was hard to deal with.
The little guy rolled around on the bed in the medical room. Having just been fed, his bones were tingly and numb, his tail slapping the sheets idly.
“Then are you from the Tech Department?”
Saying this, Duan Ke had completely excluded himself from the “will be caught” list, thinking Qin Huai posed no threat to him.
Qin Huai enjoyed this trust, rubbing his lower abdomen with just the right amount of force.
There was a faint bulge there, implying that Duan Ke was currently full of magic power, in a state of just having eaten his fill.
“I’m not, but every department falls under my command.”
Duan Ke gave a brief “Oh,” thinking while playing with his tail.
Since Qin Huai could manage the entire Bureau, that was approximately equal to him being able to manage the entire Bureau.
His gossipy nature made Duan Ke’s heart itch.
He thought, Someday I must follow Qin Huai to work secretly, sneak into the archives while he’s not paying attention, and read the Demon Realm Secret History thoroughly.
While having his stomach rubbed by Qin Huai, Duan Ke turned on his phone, wondering if anyone had looked for him during the days he was in a coma.
He clicked on his counselor’s WeChat with trepidation, trying hard to think of a reason to make his few days of absence seem reasonable.
Since dating Qin Huai, Duan Ke’s speed of degeneration was incredibly fast, frequently asking for leave; he didn’t even know what he had learned this semester.
After seeing the chat box clearly, Duan Ke blinked in surprise.
Qin Huai had already asked for leave for him, citing emergency medical treatment.
Duan Ke originally thought Qin Huai would use the identity of a boyfriend to ask for leave, but unexpectedly, Qin Huai referred to himself as his guardian.
The teacher seemed to mistake Qin Huai for his dad, the tone carrying respect for an elder.
Duan Ke didn’t need to waste breath explaining to the counselor. He happily switched chat boxes, replying to the condolence messages from Xu Jue, Little Black Ball, and a crowd of other succubi.
Typing, Duan Ke’s nose suddenly twitched.
He turned his head to look at Qin Huai. The man had one hand on his waist and the other holding the half-empty nutrient solution bottle, his sharp, handsome brows furrowed slightly, looking like he didn’t like drinking it very much.
“This.”
Duan Ke reached out a finger to tap the bottle, sticking out his tongue tip to quickly lick his swollen lips. “I want to drink too.”
Qin Huai raised an eyebrow. He remembered the scene in the memory fragment where Duan Ke held the nutrient solution and forcefully shoved it into his mouth.
He decided to retaliate.
So the officer took a mouthful, leaned over to pry open Duan Ke’s lips, and transferred the orange liquid in a bit fast.
Duan Ke wanted to drink not just out of curiosity.
The root of his tongue still had a lingering faint bitter fishy taste, and was ground a bit painful; he urgently needed some sweet water to comfort himself.
But halfway through Qin Huai feeding him, he regretted it. This nutrient solution smelled like sweet oranges, but drinking it tasted completely like drinking plastic mixed with water.
Duan Ke frowned tightly, whimpering two protests, pushing Qin Huai’s lips and tongue out with his tongue tip, refusing to swallow no matter what.
Qin Huai didn’t really want to let him drink it; he just gave the little rascal a taste, letting Duan Ke know that his actions many years ago were bullying.
After wiping the red corners of Duan Ke’s lips with a tissue, Qin Huai finally held the person’s hand and walked out of the medical room, heading toward the office.
Two people and one demon took the files and stayed in Qin Huai’s office, but clearly, someone was waiting impatiently.
Heracles’ tail was different from Duan Ke’s; it was much larger.
When he walked, the tail covered in emerald green scales would drag on the ground because it was too long, attracting as much attention as his personality.
When at home, Heracles liked to hang gems of various colors all over his tail.
But now this very powerful tail was slapping the ground thwack thwack in extreme irritation.
Even the Bureau’s specially made steel floor couldn’t withstand it, showing a few cracks from being overburdened.
Lin Jiangli and Ji Qing sat together, staring at him with complicated expressions, but daring not to say anything.
The atmosphere in the office was awkward enough to make one faint just by taking a sniff.
Qin Huai pulled Duan Ke along and opened the office door.
Never feeling that this person appeared so timely before, Ji Qing and Lin Jiangli exchanged glances, heaving a huge sigh of relief.
Heracles stood up the very first second Duan Ke appeared in the room, walked up to the two, and gave Qin Huai a very unfriendly look.
Heracles still didn’t think this person was any good.
He could smell the scent representing greed and possessiveness on the human. From the moment Qin Huai entered this room, Heracles wanted to pinch his nose in dissatisfaction and warn him to get out.
Duan Ke called out “Heracles” in surprise, hehe-ed twice, and followed the person to sit on the sofa on the side.
He didn’t see Qin Huai behind him; the Inquisitor’s eyes changed instantly, the already dark color becoming dim again.
But Qin Huai didn’t stop Duan Ke.
He believed that as Duan Ke’s marriage partner in the near future, he should learn to be a magnanimous husband. For the sake of relationship harmony, at least in front of his simple and ignorant wife, he should try his best to wear the human skin properly.
Two monsters sat on the leather sofa on one side, while three humans sat by the desk. The decoration-sparse room was instantly divided clearly.
Leaving that unpleasant smell on Qin Huai, Heracles felt the world became much cleaner.
He took a deep breath, using those beautiful emerald eyes to scrutinize the person in uniform critically.
This was his first time seeing the Inquisitor himself.
Heracles himself wasn’t short, standing at 179cm, but Qin Huai looked even taller than him by quite a bit.
When Duan Ke stood beside him, his already slender and weak figure appeared even more breakable—clean and simple, looking easy to crush.
With such a terrifying size difference, would Duan Ke really not faint from being done in bed?!
And likely completely without strength to resist, only fit to be suppressed by this person!
Heracles had a complicated expression, looking down at Duan Ke. This kid had such a good temper; presumably before Qin Huai even made a move, he put himself on a plate and handed it over, saying “Thank you, Master, for tasting” when finished.
Heracles remembered the milk tea cup Duan Ke mentioned before, feeling his temples throbbing.
He turned to look at his good friend. Duan Ke still looked to be in a particularly good mood, with no self-awareness of being dragged into a cave by a beast, even though the marks on his neck couldn’t be covered, and his lips were red.
…Feels like a stupid cat that gets bagged and would自觉 (consciously/voluntarily) seal the opening itself.
Heracles was about to explode with anger, really wanting to tuck Duan Ke under his arm and run back to Europe.
…But now wasn’t the time for that. Even to run, the hidden danger had to be resolved first.
During the days Duan Ke was in a coma, the monster extremely similar to him ran to the neighboring city.
Taking advantage of the fact that the Bureau in City A couldn’t reach that far, It swallowed the magic power of many monsters, becoming even stronger than before.
“You and he can be considered… born of the same mother?”
Although this metaphor was a bit strange for monsters, Heracles still felt it was very apt.
“Can you feel your own power is very abundant?”
Duan Ke thought to himself, Indeed very abundant, I just ate once just now, how can it not be abundant.
But he was embarrassed to tell his friend such details, so he could only cough twice, nodding guiltily, that piece of cartilage in his throat starting to feel phantom pain again.
Speaking of which… how on earth did Qin Huai get it to that position.
Duan Ke had lingering fears.
Too deep. Duan Ke even felt it was deeper than the position Qin Huai gestured to him.
The cross-section of the hot weapon was almost comparable to Duan Ke’s fist. Recalling it, he didn’t know how he achieved such an astonishing feat; simply exceptionally endowed.
Clearly when Qin Huai did this thing, his throat wouldn’t have a lump protruding…
When he did it, it was as easy as eating a lollipop. How come when it was him, just…
And, and Qin Huai’s throat wouldn’t be like his current state! So hoarse…
Was it because he was too fast??
But, it’s just hard to persist! Two minutes is also very impressive…
Duan Ke bafflingly fell into deep thought over the question of “impressive or not,” holding his chin.
When Heracles patted his shoulder, Duan Ke let out an “Ee!” sound like a bristling cat, his face red as if sunburnt.
“Are you listening?”
Heracles laughed in exasperation. “No way… what are you blushing at me for?? Sick?”
At Qin Huai’s desk over there, the sound of conversation stopped eerily for an instant. The atmosphere of the entire office shifted from the living world to the netherworld.
Duan Ke was unaware, stammering “no,” temporarily throwing the eating matter out of his brain with a snap.
Heracles briefly told him the more scientific plan he and the Bureau came up with.
“Because you and he are now linked by life, you must be the one to kill him.”
Heracles said, “With your strength, killing a counterfeit is more than easy. The part needing most caution is that he might at the last moment…”
Heracles wanted to say “commit suicide.”
But before he could finish, the terrible words seemed to come true.
Duan Ke suddenly arched his back, his face instantly turning from normal to incomparably pale, gasping for breath in huge heaves.
His usually soft voice was tearing his heart out like never before, as if he were going to pour out all his internal organs, panting fast and urgently.
Heracles let out a small scream, supporting the little monster who almost rolled onto the floor.
But someone was faster than him.
Heracles didn’t know how he teleported from that far away desk.
The office chair in the distance fell to the ground, making an overburdened sound.
Qin Huai ignored it, cradling the person in his arms. The officer’s expression was relatively calm, though his movements trembled slightly.
Qin Huai held him very tight against his chest, carefully feeling the heartbeat of the person in his arms, only to find that Duan Ke’s heartbeat was weakening, becoming faint bit by bit.
