Chapter 9: Premeditated
Seeing the flashy gameplay in the comments, Chi Jing chuckled.
“Brother Feng, you made them feel good.”
Hearing the address “Brother Feng,” Qi Feng was slightly stunned, his thoughts drifting far away.
“Little Feng Gege, I want candy!”
A pale face appeared in his mind. The child’s arms and legs were chubby, face round. The tender voice gradually drifted away in his mind.
Qi Feng lowered his eyes. The chubby little boy from his childhood… meeting again after so many years, he was much thinner and hadn’t remembered him. He didn’t know if Chi Jing just didn’t recognize him or simply hadn’t remembered him at all.
The more he thought, the more irritable he became. He simply greeted the others, said he was going to the restroom, and told them to start another game or chat first. He ran to the balcony and closed the door.
When lighting a cigarette, his eyes habitually narrowed slightly. The blue flame of the lighter danced across his handsome face for an instant. When the fire went out, he took the cigarette from his lips, a mouthful of white smoke slowly blurring his cold profile.
Mo Jingchun had followed Qi Feng when he left. Seeing him smoking on the balcony wasn’t surprising. He pushed the door open and asked, “What’s wrong now?”
Qi Feng glanced at him sideways without answering, simply taking the cigarette pack from his pocket and tossing it to him. Mo Jingchun smiled, leaned against the balcony railing, and lit a cigarette too. His long fingers held the cigarette, and neither spoke.
The atmosphere was silent for a while before Qi Feng spoke first.
“What do you plan to do about him?”
Who “he” was went without saying. Mo Jingchun was silent for a while. What to do? He didn’t know either.
“It’s fine as it is now.”
Qi Feng chuckled lightly and said, “Can you ensure he won’t discover your feelings one day? Or can you ensure he won’t develop feelings for you? Just keep escaping like this?”
His fingers unconsciously tapped on the railingâa rhythm of anxiety. Along with the sound of breathing in the room, time seemed to become exceptionally slow at this moment, every second filled with heavy waiting.
Mo Jingchun forced a helpless, bitter smile. His suppressed emotions had been pricked open, and he didn’t even have the strength to force a smile and deny it. The smoke in his mouth stung his eyes.
He opened his mouth to say something, but swallowed the words back down. His eyes were full of pain and helplessness. He couldn’t admit he had fallen in love with Song Qi, whom he treated like a younger brother. He couldn’t admit he had filthy thoughts about him. Now that someone had pointed it out, he didn’t know where to start answering, so he could only ask back:
“What about you? You went against the consensus to bring Chi Jing to our team. Did you have no selfish motives? Two people with zero prior interaction, yet now everyone can see your intentions clearly. Have you thought about what to do in the future?”
Qi Feng hid a smile in his eyes, flicking the ash off his cigarette, and answered without hesitation:
“From the very beginning, it was premeditated. Not a clichĂ© love at first sight, nor the old-fashioned growing love over time, but the throbbing of reuniting with an old friend.”
Mo Jingchun was stunned in place. He blinked, saying nothing, just silently listening to Qi Feng.
“Actually, it’s quite clichĂ© too. To be honest, I even held him when he was first born. Until he was fourteen… after I turned eighteen, I went to play pro and never saw him again. The first time we met, he didn’t seem to recognize me. Thinking about it, it makes sense; he only called me ‘Little Feng Gege.’ He probably doesn’t even know what my name is.”
Mo Jingchun chuckled lightly. “It is quite clichĂ©. And quite beastly.”
Qi Feng laughed and cursed him, then slowly continued, “Until later, when he joined Team CK. Looking at their team’s official announcement photo, my whole brain was dazed. It was like fate playing a joke. The mole on his jaw, his family situation… everything was exactly the same as the person I knew. I confirmed his face again and again until late at night, when it gradually merged with that face from the past.”
Burning to the end, the cigarette filter was hot. Qi Feng extinguished it in the makeshift ashtray and looked at the night scenery outside.
“The story of the rebellious kid and the cheerful younger brother is still clichĂ©, but undeniably, the moment he appeared before my eyes again, my gaze was locked tightly on him. Even if fate toys with people, luckily, I brought him to my side. It doesn’t matter if he doesn’t remember me; we’ll just treat it as a fresh start. So, you ask me what to do in the future? My answer is: I’m going to pursue him.”
Mo Jingchun seemed to have expected this answer. There wasn’t much surprise in his expression, only a flat comment: “Your skill at counseling people is as bad as your skill at playing Shooter.”
Qi Feng raised an eyebrow. “Just say, what are your feelings right now?”
Mo Jingchun replied, “What answer do you want me to give? That I’ll pursue him and get him? Setting aside age, will his family agree? Setting aside all reality issues, two esports players datingâdo you think he can withstand the overwhelming towering threads of abuse?”
Qi Feng was left speechless. This person was too stubborn. Unless Song Qi realized the feelings between them himself and communicated with him, anything anyone else said was useless.
Qi Feng felt his temples throbbing. But at least he was willing to admit his feelings; it wasn’t a fruitless trip. This gave him a bit of comfort. After all, watching his teammate’s slow emotional development made him anxious. But since he had said as much, saying more would be impolite. Afraid Wu Cheng would see them, he disposed of the contents of the ashtray and returned to the training room to continue helping Chi Jing with marketing.
[Don’t want to watch you play games anymore. Streamer, turn on the camera and chat, begging you.]
[I agree with the person above. Watching him crush noobs makes my liver hurt.]

Chi Jing looked at the chat with some helplessness. He closed the game interface and turned on the webcam. A handsome face was instantly magnified before the audience’s eyesâtruly pleasing to the eye.
[Let’s see God Feng.]
[Show us God Feng.]
“You want to see Lord Captain? wish granted!”
Chi Jing grabbed Qi Feng’s hand and shoved his face right in front of the camera, illuminating his beauty from 360 degrees without a blind spot.
Qi Feng stumbled slightly. His hand was gripped in Chi Jing’s; the warm touch of his fingertips made his heart race. He freed his other hand to pull a chair over and sat down right next to Chi Jing.
User [ET Team – Lin Chen] sent a Crying Kitten.
A fluffy fat cat bloomed in a magnificent special effect on the screen.
“Thank you, Lin Chen, for the gift.”
The youth’s clear voice rang right by Qi Feng’s ear. His heartbeat lost its rhythm, pausing briefly before beating violently. He couldn’t control the throbbing in his heart.
[ET-Lin Chen: Want to challenge you to a 1v1. Coming after you go offline?]
Chi Jing was slightly confused. Seeing this comment, Mo Jingchun’s brow twitched, and he explained:
“This is Team ET’s Mid Laner. When you just started streaming, he called me saying he wanted to challenge you to a solo. I originally thought we’d talk about it after you went offline, but this kid is too noisy.”
Chi Jing looked at the comment and spoke directly: “Sure. Ask Brother Chun for my contact info. I’m about to go offline. Let’s match up then.”
Chi Jing checked his phone; it was past nine. He cleared his throat and began reciting his usual sign-off lines.
“This handsome guy’s energy is depleted today and needs to recharge. Goodnight, everyone.”
Then, he ruthlessly turned off the stream. A flurry of operations, fierce as a tigerâchecking the revenue: 1.7 million.
It made Song Qi and Yuan Jibai turn red with envy on the spot.
