Chapter 106: Make You Call Me Brother (26)
Because of Xiao Ji’s overly explicit phrasing, Gu Yinnian didn’t say a word to him on the way to the gymnasium.
He really couldn’t figure out when Xiao Ji had learned to say such lewd things while wearing that cold, beautiful face.
It wasn’t until they reached the gymnasium entrance, looking at Xiao Ji in the medieval noble attire—a noble appearance that instantly reminded one of a vampire without needing makeup—that Gu Yinnian couldn’t help but ask:
“How did you say that out loud?”
Xiao Ji answered readily, “You like it.”
Gu Yinnian denied it. “I don’t.”
Xiao Ji didn’t believe him at all. “You just like it.”
Gu Yinnian’s ear tips turned red. “Where did you see that I liked it?”
Xiao Ji said, “You got hard after I said it. I saw…”
Gu Yinnian clamped his hand over Xiao Ji’s mouth.
“Alright, shut up. Don’t talk anymore. Just because people have mouths doesn’t mean they have to speak.”
Xiao Ji took the opportunity to kiss Gu Yinnian’s palm.
Gu Yinnian’s spine tingled, and he quickly retracted his hand.
“What’s wrong with you? There are so many people coming and going. What if someone sees?”
Xiao Ji lowered his eyes and said “Oh,” falling silent.
Seeing him a bit unhappy, Gu Yinnian whispered somewhat annoyedly:
“Didn’t we agree to go out tonight? Can’t you endure a little longer?”
Xiao Ji actually wasn’t unhappy, but since Gu Yinnian said that, he had to seize the opportunity to push his luck.
So he said, “Then can I bite you?”
Gu Yinnian paused. “Bite where?”
Xiao Ji didn’t speak.
But Gu Yinnian quickly understood what Xiao Ji meant.
Xiao Ji wanted to bite the back of his neck.
Like an Alpha treating an Omega.
His Adam’s apple bobbed. “I’m an Alpha.”
Xiao Ji was calm. “I know.”
Ever since Xiao Ji differentiated, Gu Yinnian and Xiao Ji had almost never released pheromones when they were together.
Setting aside the incompatibility of ice and fire, everyone knew that pheromones between Alphas were bound to repel each other.
This was the reality Gu Yinnian had been avoiding.
But his matter with Xiao Ji couldn’t be avoided forever.
The susceptibility period would eventually come.
Neither he nor Xiao Ji could lock themselves up and endure it alone for a lifetime.
And between him and Xiao Ji, one person would definitely take the relatively weaker role.
physiological structure of an Alpha meant this process would definitely be more painful before adaptation.
Xiao Ji had already suffered a lot.
Gu Yinnian couldn’t bear for him to suffer more.
So he just licked the corner of his mouth and said to Xiao Ji:
“Let’s try it.”
Many people came to the event under the pretext of Halloween.
As Gu Yinnian expected, people began arriving at the venue starting at 5:00 PM.
By 5:30 PM, the crowd reached its peak.
All sorts of costumes and makeup looks appeared commonplace here.
Xiao Ji stood by the door, straight as a ramrod, expressionless and silent.
If he didn’t blink occasionally, one might suspect he was a wax figure.
After the event officially started, Xiao Ji and Gu Yinnian entered the venue to maintain order with other Student Council members, control the lighting and music, and monitor the food and drinks.
Because there were too many people, after busying themselves for a while, Gu Yinnian and Xiao Ji were quickly separated by the crowd.
When Xu Xiaolin found Gu Yinnian, he was placing small cakes on the food stand.
“You look very handsome today.”
Xu Xiaolin helped Gu Yinnian place the cakes and spoke first.
She wore a black, low-cut, hip-hugging dress today, paired with a feather shawl and a French mesh veil hat.
The deep neckline accentuated her long neck and beautiful collarbone. The upper half of her face was obscured; only her sharp, dainty chin and glamorous red lips were visible.
She was an out-and-out beauty.
Unfortunately, Gu Yinnian’s eyes were empty at this moment; he saw nothing.
He replied perfunctorily, “Thanks. You look very pretty too.”
Xu Xiaolin was very good at conversation. Her voice was pleasant, and her words weren’t annoying. She naturally opened a topic:
“I haven’t had a chance to chat with you. Do you know what they say about us on the school forum?”
The word “us” instantly and invisibly drew their relationship closer, making it seem ambiguous.
Of course Gu Yinnian knew; Xiao Ji nagged him about the “rumored girlfriend” every day.
But at a time like this, to avoid continuing the topic, he simply said:
“I don’t pay much attention. Mouths are on other people, and so are fingers. What they say or type is their business. It’s enough that the parties involved know the truth.”
Xu Xiaolin chuckled lightly. “I didn’t care originally either, but eating melon (gossiping) and finding out it’s about myself feels quite strange. Over time, it’s easy to develop some illusions.”
Gu Yinnian clicked his tongue. “You said it yourself—illusions.”
Having been cut off by Gu Yinnian twice, Xu Xiaolin spoke more plainly:
“I haven’t seen you close to any opposite sex at school. You’re so outstanding; logically, that shouldn’t be. Is there someone you like in your heart?”
Since she was blunt, Gu Yinnian was even blunter. “Yes. That’s why I’ve been guarding my virtue like jade.”
Here, Gu Yinnian was trying to find a way to end the conversation without being awkward or rude.
On the other side, Xiao Ji’s gaze had been locked on Gu Yinnian through the crowd, watching him chat happily with Xu Xiaolin.
The urge to catch him in the act rose again.
But before he could act, he was interrupted once more.
An Jing appeared in front of Xiao Ji. His mental state didn’t look as good as before. He got straight to the point:
“You never reply to my messages. Give me a few minutes; let’s talk.”
Xiao Ji withdrew his gaze from Gu Yinnian and looked at An Jing instead.
“I differentiated. Alpha.”
An Jing nodded. “I know. Are you avoiding me because of this?”
Xiao Ji told the truth. “I’m not avoiding you. I just don’t want to deal with you.”
An Jing had seen Xiao Ji looking at Gu Yinnian.
He looked around, saw no one was paying attention to them, and frowned.
“Do you still like him?”
