Chapter 39: Hong Que in Danger
“Awooo~ Awooo awooo awooo~” Hearing her call its name, Tian Lang responded excitedly. The dusty gray wolf tail wagged happily left and right behind it, almost forming a blur.
“Haha~” It was Xie Qiang’s first time seeing such a well-behaved and clingy wolf. She smiled and reached out to stroke Tian Lang’s head. When her fingertips sank into the fluffy fur, she couldn’t help but marvel at the magic of the novel world.
Although Tian Lang was formed from spiritual power, the texture was no different from a real wolf, perhaps even better. It felt like a handful of crushed clouds, lying docilely in her palm, inexplicably giving her the urge to bury her face in it and rub.
Tian Lang felt comfortable being petted. It stuck out its pink tongue and rolled over, exposing its snow-white belly, a string of satisfied “awooo” sounds spilling from its throat, acting spoiled and begging for more pets.
Pet more, pet more~
Xie Qiang cooperated fully, reaching out to rub its belly. Listening to its constant whining, she was somewhat amused. “You are completely different from Mo Yin! He speaks pitifully little, but you love to whine so much. If you could talk, you’d definitely be a chatterbox, right?”
Tian Lang swept its tail: “Awooo~”
Yes, yes!
Master is boring to death!
After getting petted enough, Tian Lang flipped back over, stuck out its tongue to lick Xie Qiang’s small hand, and curiously took it into its wolf mouth. Afraid of hurting her, it only held it loosely, blinking its dark golden wolf eyes at her.
Xie Qiang seriously touched its wolf teeth and couldn’t help giving a thumbs up, praising, “Such healthy teeth.”
Tian Lang: ⁄(⁄⁄•⁄ω⁄•⁄⁄)⁄~
After petting Tian Lang, Xie Qiang finally remembered something. She looked back at Mo Yin lying on the ground. “But, is it really okay to leave your master there?”
Tian Lang seemed to glance over casually, then quickly withdrew its gaze, barking twice.
It’s fine, it’s fine.
S-class Sentinels are durable.
“Mm, better find him a quilt…” Xie Qiang couldn’t bear it and got up to get a quilt from the bedroom.
Tian Lang immediately grabbed the hem of her dress, staring at her pitifully, its raised wolf head rubbing against the side of her thigh. “Awooo~”
Ignore him!
Pet me, pet me, continue petting me!
“Be good. He just had binding heat and is affected by Hong Que’s side; his body must be weak.” Xie Qiang patted Tian Lang’s head. “If you are bored, help me carry the quilt together.”
“Awoo~”
Tian Lang immediately let go, following Xie Qiang happily.
Xie Qiang picked up the quilt from the bed. Tian Lang immediately looked up and opened its mouth wide. “Ah—”
She couldn’t help laughing. “Haha, Tian Lang, why are you so cute?”
“Here, for you.”
She handed the corner of the quilt to Tian Lang. Tian Lang immediately held the corner in its mouth, dragging the quilt toward the door. Unexpectedly, it walked too fast, tripped over the quilt, and fell on its back.
It quickly looked back at Xie Qiang. Confirming she was arranging the bedding and didn’t see it making a fool of itself, it quickly grabbed the corner again, pretending nothing happened, and dragged the quilt to the door.
Behind it, Xie Qiang gripped the corner of the bedding hard, her shoulders trembling slightly. After holding back her laughter for a while, she rubbed her sore cheeks and followed Tian Lang with the bedding.
Spreading the bedding on the floor, Xie Qiang went to turn Mo Yin’s body. Catching a glimpse of his exposed thin muscles, her ears turned red, and she looked away, pulling his tight shirt down.
Then she tried hard to move Mo Yin onto the floor pallet. However, even using all her strength, she couldn’t flip him over. She looked at her small hands suspiciously, unsure if she was too weak or Mo Yin was too heavy.
He looks quite thin…
Tian Lang sat squatting nearby. Glancing at Xie Qiang’s small hands turning red from exertion, it raised its right front paw and placed it under Mo Yin’s chest.
Then, with a slight lift of that wolf leg, Mo Yin’s entire body flipped over rapidly, landing on the floor pallet.
Xie Qiang’s eyes widened instantly: “Wow—! Tian Lang, you are so amazing!”
Her expression was full of worship and wonder. Tian Lang couldn’t help raising its right front leg and rubbing its nose, enjoying it very much.
Hmph, little kitten, you are also fascinated by this wolf, right?
Covering Mo Yin with the quilt, Xie Qiang sat next to him, prepared to watch over him tonight.
Her gaze inadvertently swept over the tooth mark on the black-clad youth’s cheek. She couldn’t help recalling that hot kiss just now, and quickly looked away, her face heating up.
That was her first kiss…
She had planned to save it for someone she liked in the future.
Shaking her head, she tried hard not to recall that kiss. While staring at her optical computer waiting for Sen Ji’s reply, she occasionally touched Mo Yin’s forehead to ensure he didn’t have a fever in the night.
Unknowingly, her eyelids grew heavier and heavier.
“Awooo…”
Tian Lang lowed softly, using its wolf body to catch the girl as she fell asleep.
“Damn it! These bastards!”
Deep in the battlefield, several massive high-level Zerg simultaneously surrounded a red figure.
They were obviously different from other Zerg. Their bodies were stainless-steel silver, reflecting blinding white light. Their irregular compound eyes stared coldly at the injured Hong Que.
Two long, sharp insect blades were currently pierced through Hong Que’s abdomen. He spat out a mouthful of blood, cold sweat soaking his body, his face terribly pale. “The Zerg Queen actually sent the Insect Kings?”
The combat power of an Insect King was comparable to an S-class, or even higher. But they usually only guarded the Zerg Queen’s side. Why did they suddenly appear on the battlefield, and six of them at once?
“What is the situation?”
In the earpiece communicator, Sen Ji’s cold voice came through intermittently.
“I’m about to die!” Hong Que endured the pain, pulling out the insect blades covered in barbs. Another mouthful of blood sprayed from his throat. “F*ck, the structure of these insect blades is truly insidious!”
It almost tore apart all the flesh in his abdominal cavity. Every nerve was pulling at the tactile sense of his whole body, magnifying all pain more than a hundred times.
Hong Que knelt on the ground in exhaustion, the Vermilion Bird gun in his hand desperately knocking away the rapidly spinning insect blades coming at him. “When will you arrive! I can’t hold on much longer!”
“I bzzzt… still need bzzzt—”
The communicator suddenly lost signal. Five or six messy, extremely piercing insect wing vibrations sounded from all directions, sharply penetrating Hong Que’s entire brain. It hurt so much he held his head and rolled on the ground—
“Ahhhhh—”
His mania level skyrocketed. Irritability and bloodlust replaced reason and consciousness. Hong Que’s golden hawk eyes were stained with terrifying bloodshot veins. His hands uncontrollably reached toward the wound in his abdomen, wanting to hollow out the entire painful abdomen directly.
“Hiss—”
One of the Insect Kings gave an order. All Insect Kings raised their bellies, opened a mouth, and spat dense insect blades at Hong Que!
Hong Que, in a state of near-mania, was unaware of the danger. His back was exposed nakedly in the air, forced to welcome these fatal dangers.
In the distance, on a small flight pod, Sen Ji quickly pulled up the feed ahead. Seeing this scene, his pupils contracted instantly.
Damn it, too late!
Just as the red-haired youth was about to be pierced into a sieve by the insect blades, at the critical moment, a raging fire suddenly ignited on Hong Que’s back.
The fire split in two, forming a magnificent blood-red arc in the dance, like the wings of a Vermilion Bird brushing across the sky, instantly burning all the insect blades to ashes.
The red-haired youth, who had lost his reason, slowly stood up from the ground. His brilliant golden pupils were like burning sun particles, making it impossible to look directly at their brilliance.
