Chapter 64: I Am Your Boyfriend
By the time Chen Jiamu was ready to return to the company, it was already four in the afternoon. A gentle breeze brushed past as he tilted his head back, eyes closed, and let out a long sigh.
Li Xi was really…
At lunch, Chen Jiamu had naively thought a few kisses would be the end of it. But not long after they finished eating, he was dragged straight to a hotel.
Li Xi had insisted on being called “Husband” with every breath; if he didn’t say it, Li Xi wouldn’t stop. Afraid of delaying work, Chen Jiamu had surrendered and called him that.
But even then, he was held down and pounded into the mattress for over half an hour…
“By the way, what about that cat you brought back?”
Seeing him lost in thought with his eyes closed, Li Xi asked out of curiosity. It had been a long time, and Chen Jiamu hadn’t shared any updates about the kitten.
“It’s at my house. The nanny is taking good care of it with plenty of good food and drink.”
“That auntie raises cats of her own, so leaving Xiao Qi with her is better than letting me raise it.”
After bringing Xiao Qi back from Suzhou, he had handed it over to the housekeeper. It had been a while, and he hadn’t really paid much attention to it—after all, he was busy to death himself.
I should check on it when I go back tonight, he thought.
“That’s good then.”
Hearing the cat was fine, Li Xi didn’t ask further. That little guy was a witness to their relationship; nothing could happen to it.
Chen Jiamu’s back was sore, his waist ached, and a certain area was sending waves of discomfort. He shot a resentful glare at Li Xi. Turning to look out the window, he saw they were nearing the company entrance and hurriedly called out, “Stop right here.”
“My sister asked me to bring some things up to her.”
Afraid that people from the company might see them, Chen Jiamu had him stop at a flower shop nearby.
“Alright.”
Li Xi glanced at the flower shop and didn’t say much. But after Chen Jiamu got out of the car, he suddenly remembered something and called out, “Jiamu!”
“Hm?” Chen Jiamu turned back in confusion, walking to the passenger side and leaning down to ask, “What’s wrong?”
“Nothing…”
Chen Jiamu’s eyes were bright, his long lashes trembling slightly as he stared at Li Xi with a face full of questions. He didn’t understand why Li Xi would call him back only to say nothing, but since he said it was fine, Jiamu didn’t overthink it.
“If it’s nothing, I’m going then.”
Chen Jiamu turned and walked toward the company. Li Xi stared at his retreating back, watching as he walked into a milk tea shop and subsequently emerged carrying three cups.
Jiamu peeked around, looked toward the car, and a happy smile broke across his face as he trotted over.
The autumn wind carried the scent of happiness. Chen Jiamu ran the short distance quickly, panting slightly as he raised a hand to knock on the car window. “I knew you hadn’t left yet.”
“I know you don’t like milk tea, so I ordered you a fruit tea. Drink up. It’s their signature; I heard it’s really good.”
Chen Jiamu handed the fruit tea over. Li Xi took it and found the cup wasn’t icy, just carrying a hint of coolness.
“The weather is getting cold; drinking ice makes it easy to get a stomach ache.”
Chen Jiamu’s thoughtfulness turned Li Xi’s heart into a complete puddle of mush. He couldn’t resist reaching out to ruffle Jiamu’s hair. “Next time, order me the taro milk tea. I want to learn to like the things you like.”
Chen Jiamu didn’t mind the rule-breaking touch; instead, he leaned his head in, letting him rub it to his heart’s content.
“There’s no need. You don’t have to force yourself to like what I like.”
“I don’t like people giving up things for me. I’m not willing, and I don’t wish for it.”
“You have to be yourself first, and then my boyfriend.”
Chen Jiamu actually hadn’t thought too deeply about it; he just felt Li Xi’s mindset was wrong. Why give up what you like for someone else, or wrong yourself just to cater to them?
Everyone is an independent individual; thoughts and worldviews are all different.
He knew Li Xi liked him very much, but he didn’t feel that made him superior to Li Xi. Nor did he want Li Xi to humbly ingratiate himself.
“You finally admitted I’m your boyfriend, hmm?”
Chen Jiamu had been blabbering for a while, and Li Xi hadn’t absorbed a single word—except for that specific phrase, ‘I am your boyfriend,’ which ran into his ears with exceptional clarity.
I am your boyfriend…
It was clearly a very normal sentence, but coming out of Li Xi’s mouth, it sounded exceptionally erotic…
Chen Jiamu’s ears heated up, and two patches of red quickly climbed his cheeks. Taking a fierce sip of his taro paste, he rolled his eyes with tsundere flair, threw out a parting remark, and walked away coolly with his milk tea.
“Hmph…”
Hearing his retreating words, Li Xi let out an amused chuckle. Chen Jiamu could be quite cute sometimes.
His original words had been: [I think you’re a pile of dog shit…]
Shaking his head dotingly, Li Xi opened the fruit tea, took a sip, and then started the car to leave.
Walking along the road, Chen Jiamu spent the time regulating his mood. Arriving at the company entrance, he carried the milk tea into the elevator.
Reaching the floor where Chen Cheng was, Chen Jiamu went straight to her office.
Sure enough, Chen Cheng was facing her computer, passionately venting into her microphone, cursing quite creatively. Standing right in front of her was a young man…
“You dare submit a proposal written like a pile of shit? Is the planning department empty?!”
“You even got the units wrong! A hundred-thousand-yuan advertisement written as ten yuan—did you eat the remaining zeros?!”
“None of this passes! Redo it all for me!”
Chen Cheng was so angry she slammed the file onto the desk, too lazy to even look at the young man.
She had finally wanted to rest for half a day, but come afternoon, they were pulling this nonsense on her.
Only after the scolding finished did the young man tremblingly pick up the file and scamper out of the office.
Chen Jiamu stood at the door, feeling guilty just listening to her scolding. If he made a mistake after joining the company, wouldn’t she dismantle his bones?
“What are you doing standing at the door?”
Just as he was lost in thought, Chen Cheng’s voice drifted out from the office, scaring Chen Jiamu into a full-body shiver.
