Chapter 15: Spilled Water Cannot Be Gathered, Deep Love Does Not Last

A loud noise exploded in the quiet room. Glass shards flew, and crimson wine splashed out, looking like a blooming blood-colored flower under the pale lights.
“Trash! A bunch of trash!” The man’s furious voice echoed in the room. He ripped the gold-rimmed glasses off his nose and smashed them ruthlessly onto the desk. The lenses shattered instantly, but he seemed not to feel the pain.
The medical doctor standing opposite him, a thin figure, trembled slightly. Wine stains dripped down his white coat, shocking to the eye like tainted blood.
He didn’t dare breathe loudly, only watching helplessly as the fragments of the expensive red wine glass shattered at his feet.
“I spent so much money, and this is what you show me?” The man slammed the document in his hand onto the table with a loud bang, making the doctor flinch. He pointed at the data in the file, roaring with uncontrollable rage, “Look! This is your research result?!”
The man seemed to feel this wasn’t enough to vent the anger in his heart. He grabbed the file from the table and flung it ruthlessly into the doctor’s face. The stinging pain of paper slicing across his cheek made the doctor suck in a breath of cold air. “A bunch of useless rice buckets! What is the use of me feeding you? “Sir, please calm down…” The doctor spoke tremblingly, trying to explain, but was rudely interrupted by the man.
“Calm down? How do you expect me to calm down?!” The man kicked over the chair beside him, making a deafening noise. “I spent a fortune, fed you well, and provided you with the most advanced equipment. In the end, this is what you show me?”
He pointed at the data in the file, gritting his teeth. “The experimental subject escaped. You actually tell me the experimental subject escaped?!”
The eyes behind the lenses seemed to burn with two clusters of ghostly blue flames, his tone cold as ice. “Are you telling me that merman grew wings and flew away?!”
Nurse Lily’s face was pale, her heart beating wildly.
She had witnessed Mr. K’s rage too many times, and each time it made her shudder.

“I don’t want you to find me. You’d best forget me,” Gu Yunsheng muttered to himself as he watched Sailuo leap into the sea, his tone carrying a trace of imperceptible bitterness. “Even Ling Xi had best forget me. Heh, I never belonged here anyway.”
