Chapter 40: Shared Temporary Mark
A cluster of scorching fire breath was gently exhaled from between his lips. The fire wings on Hong Que’s back vibrated slightly, lifting him straight into the high sky.
In the next instant, the flames around him surged, like an out-of-control falling blazing sun, carrying the might to destroy heaven and earth, crashing down on the Insect King that issued the order.
“Sreee—”
The scorching temperature made the Insect King let out a miserable scream instantly. The Vermilion Bird fire licked frantically at its body. The silver insect body twisted and softened at a speed visible to the naked eye, like a piece of metal about to melt, curling up painfully in the flames.
This was the confidence that allowed the Vermilion Bird family to sit firmly as the head of the Imperial families. Ordinary Sentinels only had enhanced physical strength and speed; dealing with Zerg relied on pure physical output.
Only Sentinels inheriting the Vermilion Bird bloodline could use Vermilion Bird fire to deal with Zerg.
“You, can die.”
A cold sneer raised on the corner of Hong Que’s lips. Blood-colored flames ignited on his fist. With a sizzle, it directly melted through the Insect King’s hard outer shell, piercing straight through it—
On the verge of death, the Insect King let out an unwilling wail. Nearby high-level insect generals surged toward this side upon hearing the sound. Hong Que clenched his fist nonchalantly, only feeling purification power constantly generating in his abdomen. Not only did it eliminate all manic emotions, but his wounds were also healing rapidly.
“Hahaha! Refreshing! Insect Kings, Daddy is here!”
Inside the flight pod, Sen Ji breathed a sigh of relief seeing Hong Que was fine. Just as he was about to reconnect the communication to contact him, he suddenly saw Hong Que, who was chasing other Insect Kings, seem to trip and fall face-first onto the ground.
Hong Que clutched his abdomen in disbelief. His entire body was unbearably hot, and streams of numbing heat flowed to his limbs and bones. He tremblingly raised the Vermilion Bird gun aiming at the Insect King, then lowered his arms weakly. “F*ck you, messing with me?!”
Why, at a time like this, sudden binding heat?
His lips clearly didn’t touch anything, yet it felt like they were pressed against something soft. He realized belatedly that it wasn’t his sensation, but that of his brother with whom he shared senses.
What did Mo Yin do!
Before he could think deeper, Hong Que suddenly felt a pain in his cheek. The next second, his eyes rolled back, and he passed out directly.
The fire wings dissipated with a swish. A huge Vermilion Bird manifested from Hong Que’s back and flew out. Its burning long tail swept a circle, the scorching temperature forcing the nearby insect generals unable to approach.
The flight pod stopped overhead. Sen Ji jumped down. Just as he prepared to rescue Hong Que, his gaze touched the tooth mark on his right cheek, and his pupils contracted.
Almost instantly, he recognized what it was.
Temporary mark.
Why did a temporary mark suddenly appear on his face?
The Vermilion Bird let out an urgent cry, urging Sen Ji. Sen Ji didn’t have time to think carefully, so he scooped up Hong Que and threw him into the flight pod.
When closing the door, the Vermilion Bird quickly turned into a little red fat bird, squeezing through the crack of the door into the flight pod.
“Scared me to death! Angered me to death!”
The little red fat bird flew onto Hong Que’s nose bridge, stomping around in anger, leaving obvious bird claw prints. “If not for that pervert, you would be dead!”
“Per… vert?”
Hearing this, Sen Ji repeated uncertainly, “Who is the pervert?”
“Of course it’s that—” The little red fat bird stopped abruptly, then glanced warily at Sen Ji.
This Sentinel seems to be the pervert’s fiancé.
The little red fat bird turned around, aiming its bird butt at him. “Haha, I was just saying random things.”
Won’t tell him.
If he tattles, what if that pervert stuffs it into her chest again later?
It has bird dignity… oh no, Vermilion Bird dignity too!
When Mo Yin woke up, his face hurt a lot.
A large gray wolf tail was rising and falling above his eyes, slapping his face wantonly. He couldn’t help grabbing the wolf tail and throwing Tian Lang away directly.
“Awoo awoo—”
Accompanying Tian Lang’s angry howling, something seemed to have fallen beside him. Mo Yin reached out subconsciously to catch it, and his palm touched a soft cheek.
“Mm…”
The sudden weightlessness woke the sleeping Xie Qiang with a start. She rubbed her eyes and felt around, but touched nothing. “Tian Lang?”
Responding to her was Tian Lang’s abruptly halted howling. Xie Qiang opened her eyes and found Tian Lang, who was her pillow, was gone. Instead, Mo Yin was propping up her cheek with his hand.
She sat up hurriedly. “You’re awake? Still feeling bad?”
Xie Qiang’s gaze swept over Mo Yin’s abdomen, then quickly withdrew. “Any pain? If not, is Hong Que okay too?”
Mo Yin followed her gaze down and finally slowly remembered what had happened.
Last night he suddenly sensed his brother was injured. Just as he was about to faint from the shared pain, he felt spiritual power purifying him.
Then he…
Fragmented images finally flashed in his mind. Mo Yin’s gaze, like a stiff puppet, landed frame by frame on Xie Qiang.
He… binding heat.
But, body refreshed.
Did it.
His wolf eyes stared straight at Xie Qiang’s expression. Seeing her red ears and dodging eyes, the black-clad youth slowly realized a piece of information.
She doesn’t want to take responsibility.
Mo Yin lowered his head silently. “Oh.”
Oh.?
Xie Qiang tilted her head in confusion, not quite understanding the meaning of this answer. “What does ‘oh’ mean? Is Hong Que okay?”
Brother…
Mo Yin touched his abdomen. “Mm.”
Did it, definitely okay.
Just don’t know if Brother sensed it all… he fainted, didn’t feel anything.
Mo Yin glanced quickly at Xie Qiang. After struggling for a long time, he spoke cherishing words like gold. “Tired?”
He fainted; she must have done all the moving.
“Hm?” Xie Qiang thought he asked if keeping watch was tiring, so she shook her head. “Not tired.”
“…” Don’t believe it.
Guides are weak.
Brother said, to resolve an S-class Sentinel’s binding heat, the Sentinel must be active.
Looking at the dark circles under Xie Qiang’s eyes, Mo Yin got up and walked to the kitchen.
Eat, replenish.
Xie Qiang watched Mo Yin walk to the kitchen and hurriedly got up to follow. Seeing him take out a bag of flour from the cupboard as if to make something, she was surprised. “You know how to cook?”
Mo Yin shook his head.
Xie Qiang was speechless for a moment.
She really couldn’t figure out Mo Yin’s brain circuit, so she just watched from the side. She found Mo Yin skillfully starting to knead dough, ferment it, and put it into the warming oven.
“Are you making mantou?” she asked.
“Dried fish.” Mo Yin squatted down, staring straight at the countdown dial of the warming oven.
Xie Qiang also squatted down, asking curiously, “Those delicious dried fish from before, you made them?”
“No.”
“Then… did you steal someone else’s technique?”
“No.”
“Then how do you know how to make dried fish?”
“Openly and honestly, learned.”
“…”
Xie Qiang really wanted to punch him.
Silently comforting herself that this was just Mo Yin’s personality, she prepared to stand up and heat some milk when her optical computer vibrated.
She hurriedly opened it and saw Sen Ji had replied.
Sen Ji: [Hong Que is fine.]
Xie Qiang breathed a sigh of relief.
Looks like the shared senses are magical; purification on Mo Yin’s side synced to Hong Que’s side.
Sen Ji: [However, a temporary mark appeared on his face.]
Sen Ji: [His spiritual body said a pervert marked him. Do you know who it is?]
Sen Ji: [I don’t understand Guide markings well. Can you temporary mark remotely?]
Seeing these messages, Xie Qiang fell into a complicated silence.
The pervert Little Red mentioned should be me, right?
But I didn’t know shared senses twins could not only share purification but also share temporary marks!
Wait…
Xie Qiang suddenly realized a serious problem.
When Mo Yin kissed her, Hong Que wouldn’t have felt it too, right?!
