Chapter 80: Underwear Contest: “Isn’t it more exciting… if we do it secretly?” part 1
“Were you abused often as a child, which is why you grew up to have such a twisted mind?” Tang Xingye asked, half-joking.
That wasn’t the case. Everything in Lin Mo’s life had been arranged; he only needed to operate like a machine, step by step. He simply felt there was no necessity to live, like a perfect guqin placed on a stand that no one ever played.
That violet flower had twisted his fate.
He had never been attracted to anything beautiful, nor did he know the joy of life. But seeing the Beta, something struck his soul.
With that accidental encounter, Lin Mo’s thought of ending it all vanished. It was as if he had been gently touched on the brow by a willow branch of the Bodhisattva, unknowingly anointed with a drop of sweet dew, regaining life.
To become human, one must accept the joys, sorrows, anger, and happiness that come with it.
Lin Mo had almost never made a mistake, was never moved by things, and didn’t need anyone’s affirmation. But upon meeting Tang Xingye, he couldn’t accept even a bit of distance or denial. He had become the kind of extreme risk-taker he used to loathe the most.
having done these things, he had anticipated the worst ending—probably going to hell.
“Hell?” Tang Xingye naturally didn’t believe in ghosts or gods. He looked at Lin Mo with a bit of ‘hating iron for not becoming steel,’ his face showing disapproval. “With your smart brain, instead of dedicating yourself to science, you use it to think about this kind of stuff.”
“I thought it would make you a bit happier,” Lin Mo’s voice was low and hoarse, carrying a stubbornness that was almost childish.
“Hah?” Tang Xingye really wanted to open up Lin Mo’s head to see what was packed inside.
Lin Mo going crazy wasn’t just a momentary thing. Tang Xingye was a magnanimous person and didn’t hold it against him. “The thing making me happy recently is waiting for the final exams to decide the winner, using real ability to crush all of you with my GPA.”
No one could stop his name from appearing at the very top of the bulletin board!
Lin Mo hugged Tang Xingye, as if hugging the antidote to his suffering, and whispered softly, “Mn.”
…
“Where is Tang Xingye?”
Lu Zhi looked at Lin Mo, who opened the door, his eyes darting inside.
He knew Tang Xingye’s biological clock. He would wake up at six sharp. If he hadn’t gotten up by seven-thirty, he must have been worn out by this cheap prick Lin Mo.
Slut! Shameless! Putting on that calm and breezy appearance to seduce Tang Xingye.
Lin Mo loved to pretend; it wasn’t just a day or two. After dealing with him for a long time, Lu Zhi sensed a frantic impulse surging under Lin Mo’s cold shell. As long as their interests didn’t conflict, Lu Zhi didn’t care.
Now Lu Zhi felt nauseous. Lin Mo was deliberately acting as indifferent as a chrysanthemum, and Tang Xingye just happened to buy into it.
“I know you have a disorder and often can’t control your emotions. I understand you, but this isn’t a dorm room. Watch your volume,” Lin Mo said, his tone flat.
Already dissatisfied that Lin Mo had kept Tang Xingye up so late, Lu Zhi’s anger flared up instantly. “I asked you, where is he?”
Lin Mo looked at him, the corners of his mouth hooking up slightly. Lu Zhi thought he was having another episode.
“What are you arguing about?” Tang Xingye frowned, leaning out from the inner room.
Now, Lu Zhi understood Lin Mo’s scheming. Those words were meant for Tang Xingye to hear.
Lin Mo paused at just the right moment before turning to Tang Xingye. His tone remained calm and ripple-free, even carrying a hint of helpless indulgence. “It’s nothing, Lu Zhi might be a little anxious. You slept too late last night; do you want to rest a while longer?”
This slut!
Lu Zhi pressed down on his brow bone, forcing the curse words back down his throat.
“You two, stop arguing.”
Tang Xingye watched the familiar standoff before him, feeling his temples throb. He sighed, stepping forward to stand between them, trying to mediate. “We’re all in the same dorm; isn’t it better to get along amicably?”
As the words left his mouth, Tang Xingye felt a bit strange, feeling like the head of a household.
He looked at Lu Zhi, then at Lin Mo, suddenly remembering when he first wrote in his diary, “I curse them to never find an Omega to marry in their lives.” His curse had actually come true in this way; the image of them being lonely bachelors was far from reality.
Grandma said he was to become an Alpha who stood tall and upright. Well, this method of “standing tall and upright” seemed to deviate… quite a bit from what she had envisioned.
Tang Xingye took Lu Zhi’s hand, telling him to come in and talk instead of standing at the door. Lu Zhi was pleasantly surprised and cast a provocative glance at Lin Mo.
Lin Mo’s eyes dimmed, and the aura around him grew a few degrees colder. Tang Xingye took his hand with his other hand, acting as the peacemaker. “Can’t you two coexist peacefully for a bit for my sake?”
Lu Zhi immediately quit while he was ahead, reflecting first with a tone that was stiff but implied submission: “I was wrong.” His eyes, however, were glued to the hand Tang Xingye was using to hold his.
Lin Mo also started acting, his tone sincere and carrying just the right amount of self-blame: “It was my fault; I shouldn’t have woken you.”
Tang Xingye nodded in satisfaction. Just as he was about to speak, his phone vibrated.
Huo Zhe: [Senior, have you had breakfast? I brought some for you.]
Lu Zhi leaned in to look. Tang Xingye immediately blocked the screen, pushed him away, and said grumpily, “What are you looking at?”
Lu Zhi was pushed back but didn’t get angry. He just curled his lips and retracted his gaze, though his eyes still glanced at the strictly protected phone with a hint of unwillingness.
Watching him act this way, that feeling of wrongness surfaced in Tang Xingye’s heart again. Not right, too not right. Given Lu Zhi’s temper that usually ignited at the slightest spark, being pushed away like this should have caused a scene long ago.
He stared at Lu Zhi suspiciously, trying to find a flaw under that feigned obedient expression.
Lu Zhi received the signal of his suspicion almost immediately. He had been pitted by Pei Lian a few times and almost lost his standing. A fall into the pit, a gain in your wit; he wouldn’t get jealous casually in front of Tang Xingye anymore.
Lu Zhi explained with an unusually virtuous attitude, even carrying a bit of self-satisfaction: “Wife, don’t worry, I know. When Wife is playing with others, Husband must behave and step aside proactively. I absolutely cannot make things difficult for Wife. When you’re done, Husband will come in to clean the room.”
Tang Xingye: “…”
He was momentarily choked into silence by this “Head Wife Declaration.” Too lazy to deal with Lu Zhi, he quickly replied to Huo Zhe.
Tang Xingye remembered he had promised to take Huo Zhe to continue seeing the exhibition. He decided to ignore these two lunatics, leaving the two Alphas standing there, loathing each other.
Lu Zhi watched Tang Xingye’s lips, stained with specks of bright red, his lip bead swollen like a ripe berry waiting to be picked. Thinking of how Tang Xingye was hugged and encircled by Lin Mo in the video yesterday, it was naturally easy to imagine what happened last night.
“His mouth is so red.” After Tang Xingye left, Lu Zhi dropped the virtuous and magnanimous act, revealing disdain toward Lin Mo, the homewrecker. “You’re truly lewd.”
Lin Mo looked over with cold eyes. “You’re so noble? Don’t know who stands by their roommate’s bed in the dark like a pug, leaning in to sniff.”
Lu Zhi stiffened his neck. “I just looked. I wouldn’t do anything to him.”
Lin Mo sneered. “Standing silently by the bed in the middle of the night is already scary enough. Who knows what filthy things were in your mind.”
Lu Zhi widened his eyes, retorting, “You, a terminal skin hunger patient, have the nerve to lecture me?!”
Lin Mo’s thin lips moved slightly, but spotting Tang Xingye approaching with Huo Zhe, both of them tacitly put on a facade of peace. Trouble was trouble, but against an outsider like Huo Zhe, they were united.
Huo Zhe watched as another Alpha appeared behind Tang Xingye. He frowned internally, vaguely sensing another rival in love, and asked softly, “Is he your new friend?”
