Chapter 76: “Be Good, I’ll Go Wash the Dishes.”
The paparazzi’s questions came one after another, their microphones almost shoved right into Chu Xiaoran’s face.
Before Chu Xiaoran could reach his breaking point, Fang Mo lost his patience first. He shielded Chu Xiaoran behind him and said with a cold face, “Chu Xiaoran will not be answering any questions today. Please make way, otherwise, I don’t mind taking legal action to protect our rights.”
There was nothing wrong with Fang Mo’s statement.
However, paparazzi were different from formal journalists. They didn’t hold themselves to high moral standards. For the sake of heat and traffic, they would do anything. His words didn’t scare them in the least.
If anything, his appearance was like a shot of adrenaline for them.
“Fang Mo?”
“You’re Fang Mo, right?”
“You’re just an eighteenth-tier nobody who gained some fame on This Is Love. It was also on this show that your relationship with Chu Xiaoran heated up rapidly. May I ask if you two are truly in love with each other?”
“Chu Xiaoran, did Lin Huaizhi choose to blacklist you because you got too close to Fang Mo?”
“Please answer—”
The paparazzi surged forward like a tide. Fang Mo struggled to drag Chu Xiaoran to the car door. Finally, they got in, and with a slam of the accelerator, they left the paparazzi behind.
Watching this scene, Xu Jiao ground her teeth so hard they almost shattered.
She called Chu Xiaoran, and unsurprisingly, no one answered.
“What are they doing!!”
“What exactly are these two trying to do?! Do they think the situation isn’t chaotic enough? I think Chu Xiaoran really doesn’t want to survive in the entertainment industry anymore!”
Fang Mo took the man to his own residence.
He stopped the car and looked at Chu Xiaoran with a face full of apology. “Brother Chu, I’m really sorry for forcibly taking you away.”
Chu Xiaoran smiled.
“What is there to be sorry for? After so many things happened, you’re the only one willing to get close to me. I see it now; no matter how long you’ve known someone, the feelings aren’t necessarily heavier than someone you’ve just met.”
“Fang Mo, thank you, really.”
Seeing Chu Xiaoran looking so dejected, Fang Mo felt incredibly distressed.
“Brother Chu, don’t be like this. Lin Huaizhi giving up on you is his loss; he has no vision. But I know you are gold. You will definitely shine, and you will become even more dazzling than you are now!”
Chu Xiaoran gave a bitter laugh.
“Gold or not, all my resources have been returned. Lin Huaizhi just wants to ban me so I have no roles to film.”
Fang Mo bit his lip.
“There’s still the romance variety show, Brother Chu. Lin Huaizhi didn’t cancel the show. Don’t lose heart. As long as you let everyone see your good side, they will choose to support you!”
Chu Xiaoran scoffed.
“Netizens these days are like grass on top of a wall—they sway with the wind. They are completely standing on Lin Huaizhi’s side now. No matter what I say, they won’t believe it.”
Perhaps out of urgency, or maybe heartache, Fang Mo suddenly took a step forward and grasped Chu Xiaoran’s hand.
“Brother Chu, I believe you!”
“No matter what the outside world says about you or how they spread rumors, I believe in the Brother Chu I saw at the very beginning, and the Brother Chu I see with my heart!”
“Fang Mo…”
Chu Xiaoran was terribly moved by these words. He gripped Fang Mo’s hand back. The two looked into each other’s eyes, and sparks began to fly.
Chu Xiaoran kissed him first.
The two shared a passionate kiss. Afterwards, Fang Mo leaned into Chu Xiaoran’s embrace, panting. “Brother Chu, actually, from the first moment I saw you, I was deeply attracted to you.”
Chu Xiaoran stroked his hair.
“At that time, I also thought you were very special. The first glance made me feel very comfortable and made me want to protect you. It’s just that not only did I fail to do that, but today I was protected by you instead.”
They confided in each other.
The relationship, which should have heated up during the variety show, had only now broken through to a critical stage without the catalyst of Lin Huaizhi helping it along.
“Brother Chu, it’s fine if Huameng doesn’t want you. I know many big bosses too; I’ll help you!”
Chu Xiaoran frowned.
“Little Mo, don’t do those things for me. I will break this deadlock on my own.”
“The entertainment industry isn’t decided solely by Huameng. There are other entertainment companies. I don’t believe I can’t make a name for myself without Huameng!”
Fang Mo looked at Chu Xiaoran, his eyes filled with unconcealed admiration.
“Brother Chu, I believe in you!”
Lin Huaizhi had been fooling around with Huo Chen for nearly a week.
To put it shamelessly, aside from using the bathroom, they were basically in bed. They even ate their meals in bed.
To put it even more shamelessly:
For this week, Lin Huaizhi was basically in a state where his soul had ascended from pleasure.
His legs didn’t feel like his own anymore.
His hands shook even when eating.
Anyway, he served the man well, and the man served him back in turn.
After eating two mouthfuls of green vegetables, Lin Huaizhi finally couldn’t help but complain, “Can we get something with a bit of flavor? It’s all this light and bland stuff. My mouth is so faded a bird could hatch in it.”
After saying this, Lin Huaizhi felt something was wrong. His eyes uncontrollably glanced down at Huo Chen.
Then, he met the gaze of Huo Chen, who was currently feeding him.
Lin Huaizhi: “…”
Lin Huaizhi suddenly reacted, his face turning as red as a tomato. “No! How can you twist that?! What kind of trash is filled in your head!”
Huo Chen smiled, his brows relaxing. “I didn’t say anything. You’re the one twisting it.”
Lin Huaizhi: “…”
Lin Huaizhi’s face was flushed. “So what if you didn’t say it! Don’t you know the saying ‘silence speaks louder than words at this moment’? With that look in your eyes! Do you dare say you didn’t think dirty thoughts?”
Huo Chen continued feeding him without stopping.
“I didn’t think dirty thoughts, but I did think about it.”
Lin Huaizhi: “…”
Lin Huaizhi chewed his food indignantly. “I didn’t realize before that you like to put on airs. Tear off that surface layer of skin, and privately you’re no different from a beast.”
Huo Chen wasn’t annoyed.
He reached out to wipe the corner of Lin Huaizhi’s mouth, then licked his thumb and put away the empty dishes.
“Back when you were pressing up against me, I told you. Since you insisted on provoking me, you should accept this result.”
“Accept it then. I didn’t say I wasn’t willing to accept it.”
Lin Huaizhi grinned.
“But your strength is a bit too much. I ache all over. Can you give me a kiss for comfort?”
The man, who looked cold and ruthless and was about to leave with the plates, turned back upon hearing this. He leaned down and kissed Lin Huaizhi on the lips.
“Be good. I’ll go wash the dishes.”
“Hmm?”
