Chapter 15 – Weird Thoughts
An Omega’s first presenting night.
It tortured not only Shen Yan, but also Gu Zhuoran, who couldn’t do anything about him.
Amidst the pain, Shen Yan felt a warm, sun-like aura constantly enveloping him.
He desperately absorbed that warm, scorching breath to alleviate the pain inside his body.
Slowly, the tearing sensation began to recede, replaced by a dense, numbing tingle surging from within.
It felt like countless tiny electric currents were stimulating every minuscule cell in his body to react.
His fingertips felt slightly sore and swollen. His mind gradually regained clarity, but his body felt lethargic and unable to move.
A wildly beating heartbeat seemed to echo constantly in his ears.
A broad, burning chest seemed to stay pressed against his cheek the entire time.
Through the thick blankets, a pair of strong arms held him tightly, never letting go.
This scent and sensation brought Shen Yan an unprecedented sense of peace and reliance.
It also gradually chased away the pain wracking his body…
Time passed very slowly, so slowly it felt unbearable.
By the time Shen Yan’s consciousness regained clarity once more, it was morning, and he felt someone pacing back and forth beside him.
The rustling footsteps indicated the person’s cautious movements.
Suddenly, the other person let out a short cry of pain after stepping on something.
“Ah—!”
“Hss…” Gu Zhuoran rubbed his ankle in pain; he had almost sprained it.
He limped to the side of the bed, rubbed his forehead in frustration, and slapped his own cheeks to stay awake.
He lowered his head and took a light sniff of the scent on Shen Yan’s body. The pheromone aroma had already faded considerably.
“Phew… I finally made it through.”
As he let out a deep sigh, Gu Zhuoran noticed Shen Yan’s eyelids flutter, and then immediately snap open.
Gu Zhuoran jumped in fright. He reflexively took a step back, instantly shifting into a defensive stance.
He was afraid that Shen Yan would disregard everything and pounce on him again like last night. He wouldn’t be able to parry it.
Even torture had to have a limit!
However, the Shen Yan who opened his eyes didn’t do what he had feared.
Shen Yan’s eyes were clear and bright; his mind was entirely lucid.
“Cough… you’re awake?” Gu Zhuoran coughed lightly and asked, forcing himself to sound calm.
Shen Yan frowned. He tried to prop himself up on his hands to sit up, only to find his arms weak and sore. After several attempts, Shen Yan collapsed back into the blankets.
Shen Yan looked at Gu Zhuoran in confusion, wanting him to provide an answer.
But Gu Zhuoran actually turned his head to avoid his questioning gaze.
His behavior inevitably made Shen Yan’s thoughts wander in the wrong direction.
After contemplating with a grave expression for a moment, Shen Yan suddenly asked, “Did I… fight you last night?”
“…” This weird train of thought forced Gu Zhuoran to turn back and glare at him.
“I lost?” Shen Yan questioned, his voice laced with even more disbelief.
Gu Zhuoran stood there grinding his teeth, holding back his temper for a long time without making a sound.
All of his previous worry and heartache were instantly tossed out the window.
What kind of Omega, after enduring such a tragically painful presentation, would actually think in this direction? It was probably only Shen Yan.
After a while, he placed the bowl of porridge to the side, walked over, helped Shen Yan sit up properly, and said through gritted teeth, “We didn’t fight. I stopped fighting with you after I presented.”
Sitting up against the headboard, Shen Yan nodded in deep agreement. “True, presenting as an Alpha only to be defeated by me again is pretty embarrassing.”
The hand Gu Zhuoran used to pick up the porridge bowl shook slightly. He steadied himself before scooping a spoonful to feed Shen Yan.
“Eat,” Gu Zhuoran said domineeringly.
Shen Yan didn’t open his mouth. He just stared quietly at Gu Zhuoran for a moment and said with deep emotion, “It’s been a long time since you spoke to me like this.”
Ever since Gu Zhuoran presented early, his personality seemed to have twisted 180 degrees overnight. He was no longer as close as before; he became gloomy, taciturn, and solitary, maintaining a certain distance even in front of Shen Yan.
But waking up today, Shen Yan found that the Gu Zhuoran from many years ago seemed to have returned to his sight.
He was dominant, gentle, and straightforward.
Unfortunately, Shen Yan hadn’t lost his memory from the pain. No matter how much he didn’t want to admit it, he couldn’t deny the truth.
For instance, with Gu Zhuoran this close to him right now, the lingering scent of Alpha pheromones was unmistakable.
Shen Yan took the bowl of porridge, holding it quietly in his hands. After a long pause, he let out a soft sneer.
“Fuck, I actually presented into an Omega!”
If you live long enough, you truly see everything!

Certain Miao: ……Why!! (Shocked~) Shen Yan: Why did you have to make presenting as an O so painful and tragic~ Couldn’t you have just glossed over it! Certain Miao: Miao Miao could gloss over it, but your pain wouldn’t just vanish in an instant. You still have to hurt when you’re supposed to hurt! Shen Yan: …..Then explain this: why did I present as an O when I have such an outstanding dad? Certain Miao: …..Who said that if the father is an outstanding A, the son must definitely be an A? I never said that! Crowd: …..Alright, author, you’re the boss~~
