Sentinel & Guide: From Pariah to Heartthrob Chapter 43

Chapter 43: Chi Wan, Give Me a Reason

Shen Xingyun put away his teasing and nodded seriously:

“An iron tree blooming, not bad.

Do you remember the Shen family motto?”

As a prominent family in the galaxy, the Shen family had a unique “ancient” style. Because the patriarch was obsessed with swords and loved studying ancient texts, their ways were quite like those of cultivation practitioners.

The Shen family’s light ability was passed down in a single line. Light possessed divinity, and the divinity in Shen Yu was most prominent, so Old Master Shen had always been strictest with his education.

Under the projection of the star screen’s blue light, the divinity in Shen Yu’s deep phoenix eyes gradually appeared. His amber eyes focused:

“Inherit the will of the gods, continue the swordsmanship…”

“Correct.”

Shen Xingyun interrupted:

“You only know the explicit ones, not the hidden last sentence.”

Shen Yu was puzzled: “The last sentence?”

“The last sentence of the Shen family motto is—

If you meet the one, all things can be abandoned.”

Shen Yu: “…”

“You just made that up, Grandpa.”

That was too much of a ‘love brain’ sentiment.

He didn’t accept it.

Exposed, Shen Xingyun didn’t change his expression. He just stroked his non-existent beard, raised his eyebrows, and pretended to be profound:

“Whether you believe it or not isn’t important. What’s important is that your mother and I were both ‘love brains’.”

“So you must be one too.”

Shen Yu closed his eyes slightly.

There’s no need to say it with such pride. It’s really not a good thing.

He shook his head in rebuttal: “I won’t become a ‘love brain’. Pollution entities in the galaxy are increasing, and humanity’s…”

Shen Xingyun took in Shen Yu’s serious expression and simply interrupted:

“I can give you an idea to make that little Guide stop being angry with you.”

The young man instantly perked up, focusing his attention:

“Grandpa, please speak.”

Chi Wan packed up her documents and personal items, planning to get off work.

She opened her optical computer and was dumbfounded seeing the 1,000,000 star coin tip from Hei Mi.

Hei Mi… was he this rich?!

No, it was too much. She felt undeserving and needed to find a chance to return the favor.

Thinking this, Chi Wan left the soothing room.

Her optical computer chimed with a message from an Alliance assistant:

“Respected Guide Chi Wan, your room transfer has been completed. Your current room address is—

Building 031, Room 0213.

If you encounter any problems, you can contact us immediately. Our logistics department is on duty 24 hours a day~”

Chi Wan was in a good mood and replied with a thank you.

Moving away from those living hells made her feel much lighter.

Beep beep—

Beep beep—

“Sister Chi Wan is off work! I’m here to pick you up!!”

Seeing the little robot she had met a few times, Chi Wan bent down and patted its small head:

“Didn’t you leave with the Federation people?”

The little robot spun around, happy:

“Manager Kui said I’m allowed to stay here with Sister Chi Wan. So happy!!”

Looking at the “> <” on the display screen, Chi Wan’s heart melted. Her voice was soft:

“What is your name?”

“0573, my name is 0573!”

“0573?”

Chi Wan stood up, instinctively rejecting this cold name.

How could a code be called a name?

She smiled and tilted her head at it:

“You always like to go ‘beep beep’ (dudu), how about I call you Dudu?”

“o·o”

The little robot froze for two seconds before realizing Chi Wan had given it a name.

It instantly became incredibly happy:

“Like it, like it!!”

One person and one machine walked toward Building 031.

“Sister Chi Wan, remember to charge Dudu!”

Dudu said, displaying its battery level on the screen—only one bar left.

“Okay.”

Seeing Chi Wan agree to charge it, the wheels under Dudu retracted, replaced by jet devices. It rose into the air and spun happily.

Chi Wan smiled and shook her head, reminding it to be careful while walking up the steps.

Dudu was so happy it forgot itself. After flying with Chi Wan for a while, it started spinning again.

Spinning while shouting:

“So happy, so happy!”

“Dudu—”

“Dudu has a name, Dudu—”

However, the smile on Chi Wan’s face froze.

At the corner of the stairs, a tall figure stood. Qi Ye, wearing a fitted combat uniform that outlined his waist, leaned against the wall, his brilliance restrained.

The moment he saw her, he straightened up and walked toward her. Backlit, his expression was unclear, but his slightly hoarse and tired voice told Chi Wan he had probably waited a long time:

“It’s really hard to see you.”

Chi Wan felt she must be tired from work, actually feeling a hint of grievance in his words.

Just as she was about to find some words to brush him off, she heard a very loud BANG!!!

Chi Wan turned back in shock.

Because it spun too fast, the little robot Dudu hit the corner handrail and smashed onto the ground.

Its round mechanical head tilted to the side, motionless.

“Dudu!”

Chi Wan rushed forward to check the situation, straightening its small mechanical head. A big “XдX” appeared on the screen.

It was over; the kid was knocked out.

“Oh my, let me handle it. I know someone in the mechanical department~”

A bewitching, mature female voice came from below. Kui An, wearing a cheongsam, walked up elegantly.

Her exquisite, charming eyes swept over Chi Wan and Qi Ye, a smile on her lips:

“Leave this little robot to me. You two continue~”

Saying this, without waiting for Chi Wan to speak, she picked up Dudu by the handle behind its head and left.

Chi Wan watched Kui An’s back, unable to ignore the approaching footsteps behind her.

She turned to look at him. His scent, cold and astringent mixed with a faint, pleasant pine fragrance, assaulted her.

Chi Wan lowered her head, avoiding his face, and just backed away.

Qi Ye approached leisurely, pacing it just right to corner her against the wall.

His tall figure overshadowed her, his voice hoarse:

“You’re afraid of me?”

Chi Wan lowered her head to avoid his mind-reading and just shook her head.

Her thick, long silver curly hair almost wrapped her small face. Under the shadow, she looked obedient and heartbreaking.

Qi Ye’s tight lips moved, almost like a sigh:

“Then you just hate me.”

Chi Wan didn’t shake her head this time.

She didn’t hate him, nor did she hold a grudge for him blocking her. She just didn’t want to have contact with these male leads anymore.

She had an ability now, and the Space-element ability orb would be delivered to the Alliance in a few days. She had the confidence to walk another path.

Seeing her just lowering her eyes and staying silent, seemingly acquiescing, Qi Ye lowered his eyelids slightly, suppressing the unhappiness in his heart. His voice became gentler, almost coaxing:

“Blocking you was my fault. I disappointed you. I can make it up to you.”

Chi Wan shook her head: “I don’t want compensation.”

She turned her head away, quite stubborn:

“I just want to stay far away from you.”

“So is this why you refused ten boxes of Ion Blaster Guns rather than seeing me?”

Chi Wan looked up at him.

What Ion Blaster Guns?

Her nominal dad only asked if she wanted to see him, not mentioning any guns at all.

But instantly remembering he could read minds, she quickly lowered her head to avoid his gaze.

“Chi Wan.”

He took a step closer, the tip of his shoe almost touching hers, drawing the distance between them even closer.

“Give me a reason.”

As he spoke, his voice deepened:

“Why won’t you even give me a chance to apologize and make amends?”
